Maggie came to us very pregnant with puppies . She is so glad to be done with having puppies ! Maggie is a very devoted loving dog to her person now that she does not have a family to protect. She does struggle with change and needs some grace when adjusting . This gal loves to snuggle and is a velcro dog . She is good with other dogs and respectful to cats. This pair of lap lovers are new to us and we just think they are the best ! Both boys are 8 years old and are so much fun to have in your home . Milo ( Black) and Oliver are good with other pets , cats included but would not be good in a home with small children . They are well leash trained and love to cuddle up together . Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ** SPECIAL NEEDS ** Level 4 Heart Murmur ** **REQUIRES FENCED YARD ** NEEDS A COMPANION DOG * Meet 'Beans', an 8-1/2 yr old, 12 lb, Chihuahua Mix . He's considered 'Special Needs' due to his Level 4 Heart Murmur, however, he's not on medication. He's housebroken and seems to ride well in a car curled up in a bed in the passenger seat. Not leash trained so he requires a Secure Fence Yard. Beans is a "climber" using rocks/boards to jump up on. As some other dogs, he's a Good Escape Artist and Door Darter whenever door is open. He will need a companion dog in the home to help him continue to thrive to be a great dog. He also has a 'cloudy eye' but still sees okay. Beans came from a very bad situation that included bitten by tons of fleas and ticks losing all his hair and he would love to find a family to give him a better life. If you are interested, complete the Adoption Application on our website at www.NeedyPaws.org and we will contact you. Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Bean’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.
