Story
This spicey nugget of cuteness is Carley Bean. We believe her to be a Chi/JRT mix and 3.5 months old. She is full of energy and feisty to say the least. We suspect she was taken away from her mom and littermates too soon and due to this she is showing to be a little extra feisty when playing with and engaging other pets in the home. She would benefit being in a home with another dog that will gently correct her and recommend training classes. Due to this issue we do recommend older kiddos in the home. She loves to play with her Papillion and Husky foster siblings, and suggest no cats. Carley is crate trained and does well sleeping through the night in her crate and does well in the car. We are working on potty training. If you would like to add Carley Bean to your forever family, please put in an application for consideration at 4paws4rescue.com. St Louis and surrounding area adoptions only. September 30, 2023, 6:22 pm

Story
She’s currently placed with an adoptive family and so far it is working out well. Chili (2 pounds) was neglected as a puppy and for some reason the Humane Society thought it was a good idea to let an 80 yr old adopt her. My mom loved this dog but was unable to provide proper structure to fix any problems she already had. The dog has shown some ability to go outside but just can’t get consistent. She chews clothing and shoes. She will guard “her person” with vigor. She will choose her person as needed from whoever is in the room and pretty much hates everyone else but that person. We’re unable to keep her anymore and with all her issues we still want her to have a good life. Please don’t adopt unless you can train her or have an inside or outside sheltered environment that she won’t be able to destroy- a little bit at a time. She comes with crate and supplies. We’ve vaccinated rabies/distemper for 3 yr and have all her records . Thank you.

Good with dogs,
Story
Hi. I am Poppy, a 3-5 year old 6 pound chi mix. I was given the name Poppy because my owner lived on Poplar Street. I came into the rescue along with 3 of my sisters. You see, my owner died and there were 12 of us. The owner's sister reached out and 4 of us were lucky enough to be able to go into the rescue. We had lived in some pretty bad conditions since my owner was sick for awhile and wasn't able to properly care for us. When I arrived, I was pretty shut down. I was afraid to leave the kennel or to go outside to potty. So, foster mom sent me to the foster's house that had my 3 sisters. That was the magic that brought me out of my shell. Now, I'm cuddling with foster mom and sleeping in bed with her. I am, however, still working on the potty game as I am not comfortable going outside yet. I am also learning to walk on a leash. I am good with other small dogs and with older children but large dogs scare me and cause me to shut down. It is unknown about whether I would be good with cats since I haven't been around them. If you are interested in a bonded pair of tiny chi's who are just discovering that there is a big world out there, have your peeps call my peeps and we will be right over. Story
Meet Espresso! She loves to be carried around and snuggled on and favorite activities are sleeping and snuggling. She would be great as an only dog or with a similarly inclined friend for companionship. Essie loves being in her crate, and is quiet. She is reliably potty trained, but will use pads in the enclosure. When rescued, she had a bad case of mange so lost some of her hair. She is healthy now but may need to wear a sweater to keep warm. She is good with cats and other dogs. Essie is about 9.5 years old and weighs 8 pounds. She would love a forever home to live her best life and get all the snuggles she deserves!!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as ''Out of Town'' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.September 30, 2023, 3:26 pm
