Story
*SPECIAL NEEDS - MENTALLY CHALLENGED- secure fenced yard - companion dog required* Meet Money Penny!   She's 8 yrs old, 14 lbs, Chihuahua Mix. Penny is a Special Needs Dog due to genetics. She was brought into rescue with 3 other dogs we believe were siblings.  She's fine physically . Her biggest issue is her fear, slow comprehension and super sensitive t o noises and she'll run to safe zone.   She eats well, and she will take food & treats from your fingers. She does hang sometimes with the other dogs as seen in the photos. So having another dog in home is a must for her to understand how to be a dog. She can not be handle but she will sit in the room on a dog bed or next to you on a couch if other dogs are around. She is not a lap dog. Because she is frightened quickly, she has not been taken outside because not sure how noises outside and the wide-open space would affect her and whether she will be controllable. Foster home is still working on that. She is 95% potty pad trained. Sometimes when she hears a noise and runs, she may potty just because of running. But 95% of the time she used potty pads. PENNY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOMEONE WHO WOULD JUST LET HER LIVE QUIETLY AND LEARN TO BE PART OF THE FAMILY. If you think you would like to make Penny part of your family, please fill out an Adoption Application and someone will call and talk to you about her personality.  She is a very sweet dog but not sure if she will ever adjust to loud noises. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Money’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
Stitch is a very active cuddle bug. Stitch likes to explore the outdoors and play with his toys. Stitch has mastered running up and down stairs and navigating the home to find the door for him to go out in the backyard to do his business. Stitch is good with big dogs who leave him alone. He is crate trained, house trained, and rides well in a car crated. Stitch does get possessive of his person and will bark if someone approaches that person as chihuahua do.  He is protective of his friend Rockabella as well. He can be food possessive so feeding him and Rockabella apart would be best. in typical Chi fashion He would do best in a home without small children or big dogs . He would do best with a fence since he likes to chase wildlife. Stitch is bonded with Rockabella and they must be adopted together. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Rockabella is an active tripod who loves running outdoors. She loves laying next to her person on a pile of blankets. Rockabella is the instigator of most of the ruckus between her and Stitch. She has mastered running up and down carpeted stairs. She is friendly with all dogs that leave her alone. She is house trained, crate trained, and rides well in a car crated. She will try to constantly be next to her person. She can navigate the home to find the door to go outside and do her business. Rockabella is definitely more friendly of strangers than her counterpart Stitch. Like most chis She would do best in a home without small children. She would prefer a fence since she sometimes likes to explore the neighborhood. Rockabella is bonded with Stitch and they must be adopted together.   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Meet Miss Daisy….an adorable Chihuahua mix, approx 10 years old, weighing 10 pounds. She came to our rescue group after being found abandoned in a park in rural Missouri. Daisy is a very happy and friendly little senior lady, and quite the snuggle bug! She enjoys the company of other small dogs, although, she would love to have your lap all to herself to snuggle on.  Daisy has recently been diagnosed with a medical condition that involves a Grade 4-5 heart murmur and an enlarged heart. She will need to be on several heart medications for the rest of her life. Daisy requires a quiet home, no children, no large dogs and secured fenced yard to go potty for her safety, and someone who is home a lot, as she wants to be with her people.   If you have a spot in your life for this Special Little Lady, please submit an application for review.   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Daisy’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. Story
** ADOPTER HAVING DOG SOCIALIZATION SKITTISH EXPERIENCE & PATIENCE IS PREFERRED** ** JANICE REQUIRES ANOTHER DOG IN THE HOME & FENCED YARD FOR SAFETY** QUIETER HOME & NO KIDS TO KEEP JANICE FROM DOOR DARTING ** Meet our Sweet Janice Joplin! She's a 2 yr old, 14 lb, Terrier Mix. Janice was rescued on Jan 15 from a Hoarder/Breeder situation, with very little socialization and she's been with fosters since being rescued in January, learning how to be a dog using other dogs as mentors for her. She REQUIRES another companion dog in the family and would LOVE for that dog to be a player!! She LOVES to play and run with other dogs! When she sees other dogs thru the fence, she barks a lot due to excitement! She also barks a lot when you return home and the excitement she shows to be happy to see you! She does not like you to touch or pet her yet and it will be her learning skill as she becomes part of your family. She's close to that stage but still does not understand human touch. When you're in the room, she'll lay across from you in a dog bed on the sofa watching you and the other dogs. She seems to REALLY want to be normal but is still afraid when you reach down to touch her. She's housebroken but occasionally, she will pee on a potty pad late in the night. Not sure if that's because she didn't take time to go before bed.  It's random. She will not walk on leash and will scream because you touch her. However, the foster parents were able to put her in bathtub and give her a bath and dry her off. But she does not like being on your lap. We think that if she found the perfect family who understand semi-feral dogs like her and will accommodate her needs and show her love forever, she may grow with you and let you pet her eventually.  These types of dogs seem to try really hard to be like the other dogs.   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Janice Joplin’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. Story
“Meet little Miss Jazzy…a precious 2 year old Chihuahua, weighing approx 8-1/2 pounds. She was found in a home in rural Missouri, along with several other Chihuahua’s, who were all living in deplorable conditions. Jazzy is very lovable and affectionate, and insists sleeping on your pillow snuggled right next to you at night. She is playful and energetic and would be happiest in a home with another small/young/playful dog for companionship.  Jazzy requires a family without children, and no large dogs or cats. She does not walk on a leash, therefore, she will need a home with a secure fully fenced yard to go potty. Jazzy is healthy, current on her immunizations, heartworm negative, spayed, and microchipped.” If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO.
