Story
Tommy thinks he’s a big dog, given his small size. He is a chill dog and spends the majority of his time taking naps, and he snuggles next to you as well. Since he is leaning towards old age, he prefers his solitude. He will show you that he loves you by throwing himself on the floor when you call him, and he will accept belly rubs. He will also randomly boop your leg with his nose when you’re standing or sitting down, which is cute.

Story
*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE ONLY FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS *** Oscar is a sweet pup who recently came from a neglect/hoarding situation and is just beginning to learn what it means to live life as a loved pet. The progress they do make — a wagging tail, choosing to nap nearby, or trusting you enough for a little kiss — will be incredibly rewarding. With a patient, loving home and someone willing to put in the dedication, this pup will show you that every small step forward is truly worth celebrating. They do well with other dogs and would love to have another dog in their home as a companion. Oscar is still coming out of his shell and learning to trust, but he is making heart-warming progress. When he’s unsure or overstimulated, he finds comfort in having his own safe space to curl up in — and when you’re not looking, he’ll sneak out, collect toys (or slippers), and tuck them into his little den for security. It’s his version of a comfort blanket, and it’s very sweet. He currently prefers dogs over people, and he has grown so much because of the other dogs in his foster home. He needs a home with at least one friendly dog close to his size and energy level — he truly follows their lead. If the big dog goes into a crate for bed, Oscar gets up and goes into his. If the dogs head outside, he will go too. He enjoys playing tag with his foster siblings and soaking up sunshine out on the deck. He knows his name, will come when called, and will happily go into his kennel for a treat. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and during daytime naps. He prefers grass outside over pee pads, but does best if a pee pad is available for rainy middle-of-the-night trips (honestly, can’t blame him). Because he is still gaining confidence, he does not like being picked up and he’s not ready for direct petting yet — he’ll hop on the couch near you, but physical touch still feels too vulnerable. He also isn’t ready for regular walks — he is a little Houdini who can slip out of harnesses — so any leash training will need to wait until he’s further along. Oscar is a gentle, quiet little soul who wants to be part of a family — and he shows it in his own ways. In a calm home with another kind dog to show him the world is safe, this boy will continue to blossom.

*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE ONLY FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS *** Foxtrot is a sweet pup who recently came from a neglect/hoarding situation and is just beginning to learn what it means to live life as a loved pet. Foxtrot is looking for a home that will provide some extra patience and care as she learns to dance through life! She is a very timid girl who does not want to be picked up or walked on a leash. She has learned to use a potty pad in the house, and does decent in a crate where she enjoys her meals. Foxtrot gets along with most other dogs and would love an older canine companion to show her the ropes and act as her snuggle buddy. She grows to be less scared with each passing day, though will certainly require time to warm up to her new family. Head on over to Saving Grace this weekend to dance with Foxtrot!

***REQUEST APPOINTMENT WITH ADOPTIONS TEAM, please email adoptions@savinggracenc.org to schedule at least 48 hrs in advance and do not use the self-schedule*** Burlington is a sweet pup who recently came from a neglect/hoarding situation and is just beginning to learn what it means to live life as a loved pet. Burlington is a sweet, funny old soul — an old man in a dog’s body — who’s still learning to trust humans at his pace. One of his cutest quirks? When he’s not totally pleased with the situation, he quietly mumbles to himself. Not a bark, not a growl — just a little under-his-breath commentary on life. It’s absurdly charming. He prefers to do things according to his rules, but he loves being near his people; he’ll follow his foster mom around the house and has even taken to stretching out on the yoga mat during her sessions just to be part of the moment. He is highly food motivated — breakfast, supper, snacks in between, treats, the crinkle of a bag — all top tier life events for him. He also enjoys zooming around the house with his toys and playing tag with his best buddy Echo. If they could be adopted together he would be over the moon, but if not, he will definitely be happiest with another confident, friendly dog (ideally a female), who will play with him and help him continue to build trust. Burlington has a gentle nature. He can be apprehensive when you need to approach or pick him up, so he needs a person who will give him patience and space to come around in his own time. A calm, laid back home with adults or older children would be ideal. He reliably uses potty pads and never makes messes anywhere else in the house. He also loves going outside in a securely fenced yard. If he does not have access to a fenced outdoor space, he will need a home who is okay continuing potty pads until he gains enough confidence to begin learning leash walking. This stoic, lovable, mumbling gentleman is ready for a patient, caring home where he can belong — and be cherished — exactly as he is.

**AVAILABLE ON-SITE FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS** Golf is a sweet pup who recently came from a neglect/hoarding situation and is just beginning to learn what it means to live life as a loved pet. Golf is a quiet gentleman with the sweetest, most calming presence. Though he came from a neglectful, hoarding situation, he’s learning more every day about what it means to be loved — and it’s beautiful to witness. He’s growing more comfortable with each passing day, even doing short zoomies now and discovering how fun life can be! His eyes are getting brighter, and his little heart is opening up. He’s started inviting his Chihuahua foster brother to play and melts when his foster mom kisses his face and rubs his ears and paws (he secretly loves it). Golf enjoys roaming the fenced yard, but when he senses he’s alone, he’ll trot right back to the door — ready to return to the warmth and safety of his foster family. This sweet boy is already on track with potty training, always preferring to go outside, and just needs a little guidance to learn how to ask. Steady, tender, and soothing to be around, Golf is the perfect companion for a peaceful, patient home. With love, time, and encouragement, he’ll continue to blossom — reminding all of us that every small step forward is a victory worth celebrating.

***REQUEST APPOINTMENT WITH ADOPTIONS TEAM, please email adoptions@savinggracenc.org to schedule at least 48 hrs in advance and do not use the self-schedule*** Echo is a sweet pup who recently came from a neglect/hoarding situation and is just beginning to learn what it means to live life as a loved pet. Echo has a tender, caring, motherly spirit. She’s shy with people at first, but she loves the company of other dogs — especially ones close to her size — and is happiest in a home with a confident canine friend to show her the ropes. She’s making real progress in her foster home. While she doesn’t particularly want to be picked up, she’s learning to enjoy gentle pets on her terms. She will now wiggle up to her foster mom on her belly and politely ask for face rubs, ear scratches, and belly rubs — and it’s adorable. Echo is very food motivated and is the unofficial household timekeeper for breakfast and dinner. She loves a soft, warm dog bed and is comfortable settling in quietly nearby. A patient home that goes slow, stays gentle, and allows her to blossom at her pace will get to see her sweet personality continue to unfold. She has not yet learned to walk on a leash, but she reliably uses potty pads. She also loves going outside in a securely fenced yard. If she does not have access to a fenced outdoor space, she will do well with someone who is okay continuing potty pads until she gets confident enough to learn new routines. Echo would be thrilled to be adopted with her best buddy Burlington. If that’s not possible, she will do best in a home with another friendly dog about her size who can help her feel secure and show her that humans can be safe, gentle, and kind. This tender little girl is ready for a calm, patient home where she can finally exhale — and live the rest of her life as someone’s beloved family member.
