Story
(DOB 11/13/2023) Petite Sissy is an absolutely adorable little girl with a heart full of sweetness. She’s the perfect blend of playful energy and cozy cuddles; happy to be active and then just as content curling up for some quality snuggle time. Sissy is happy to jump on the sofa or chair to be with her people or other pups; no invitation necessary. With her gentle personality and bright eyes, Sissy is the kind of dog who quickly steals hearts. Her ideal home includes someone who is around much of the day and truly excited to invest in training, routine, and continued confidence building. A younger, playful dog of a similar size is a must for Sissy; she loves having a canine sibling to play with, learn from, and follow household cues. Because of her small size, she’ll also need a secure 4–5 ft fenced yard with solid panels or very narrow spacing, along with careful monitoring of doors and gates, as she can be a bit of a flight risk.  Sissy is very smart and eager to learn, especially when given patience, consistency, and encouragement. Right now, her confidence-building journey is underway, and she’s making progress with leash training and crate training. New people can make her a bit nervous at first, so she may bark briefly to let you know she’s unsure, but with a little time and reassurance, she warms up nicely. She may also alert bark when she hears someone approaching the home/yard, something to keep in mind for townhome living. These are all opportunities for positive training that will help Sissy blossom into a more confident companion. Sissy hasn’t yet had the chance to meet kids or cats, so those would be new experiences for her. With the right match, patience, and love, this sweet, cuddly, and charming girl is going to thrive. Ready, really ready, to welcome a special little soul into your life? Let’s make the perfect match for Sissy! FYI, Sissy will require UTI prescription food which our rescue will provide her fur-ever family the brand she is currently on so it can be maintained by her family going forward. As part of Sissy’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Sissy, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2601249##

Story
Tito may only weigh 5.5 pounds, but he carries himself like he owns the place. At around 7 years old, he’s a chihuahua with all the classic traits: bold, expressive, energetic, and absolutely certain he deserves attention. Found as a stray with rotted teeth and skin issues from parasites, Tito bounced back with impressive attitude. He’s had a full dental cleaning with 18 extractions and is feeling dramatically better. His skin and sleek brown and white coat are now healed, and his ears are nearly there, too. Otherwise, Tito is healthy and active! Tito is what we’ll lovingly call a "firestarter". At home, he always wants attention, but also on his terms. He loves other pets and tries to initiate play constantly… unless it’s nap time, in which case he expects peace and quiet. Adding to Tito's mystique, he comes off as mellow and reserved outside of the home, whether it be for a vet appointment or socialization. He’s a tiny dog with big character: energetic, social, enigmatic, opinionated and happiest in a home that appreciates the unique allure, and occasional chaos, of chihuahuas. Tito's ideal home has other playful pets and no little kids. If you’re a chi lover who appreciates a dog that knows what he wants, and understands the balance of boundaries and spoiling, Tito will fit right in. Tito doesn’t just want a home — he wants an audience. And honestly? He deserves one.

Story
Meet Skippy! Skippy is a sweet, curious 9-year-old gentleman who proves that age is truly just a number. While he’s wonderfully calm and easygoing around the house, he still has plenty of pep in his step and enjoys getting out and about. Walks are one of his favorite activities, and he’s always up for a game of fetch or a little toy time to keep things fun. After he’s had his exercise and mental stimulation, Skippy is perfectly content to settle in for some quality relaxation. You’ll often find him lounging in a cozy dog bed or curled up on a soft blanket, soaking in the sunshine or just enjoying the calm of his surroundings. He has a naturally gentle, laid-back demeanor that makes him a lovely companion for quieter moments. Skippy is friendly and social — he does well with other dogs and is comfortable around kids, but he would also thrive as the only dog in the home if that’s the right fit. He’s adaptable, affectionate, and happiest when he’s near his people. One guaranteed way to win him over? Belly rubs. He absolutely lives for them and will gladly roll over to request more. It’s also important to know that Skippy will need a dental procedure to address his teeth, but the good news is that the rescue already has this scheduled and will cover the cost. He’ll be feeling even better in no time, ready to enjoy his golden years comfortably. Skippy would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a low-key but still playful companion — a dog who enjoys activity without needing constant stimulation, and who brings a calm, loving presence into the home. If you’re looking for a sweet senior with a big heart and the perfect balance of energy and relaxation, Skippy may be your guy 🐾

Story
Name / Breed / Age: Ludwig, Chihuahua, Senior Personality Traits: The Velcro Pup, Curious, Loveable Likes / Dislikes:  Likes: butt scratches, French fries. Dislikes: jam bands (hard to keep up with the beat) pen- he needs freedom to explore! Health and behavior history:  Up to date on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and neutered. Clean bill of health from the PIPs Vet!   If you’ve ever dreamed of living with a tiny, determined old man who navigates life entirely by commitment and vibes — Ludwig is your guy.   Before Ludwig was surrendered to a local shelter with his siblings, he spent far too long living in a cramped little crate. Now that he finally has space in a foster home, he’s exploring like he’s training for a very small, very adorable expedition. Walls? Interesting. Furniture legs? Intriguing. Your shins? His preferred landmark.   Despite not seeing or hearing a thing, Ludwig is wildly curious and surprisingly confident. He conquered the stairs almost instantly and now struts around like a miniature landlord checking his property. It is likely Ludwig has always been blind, but we are unsure if he has always been deaf.    Ludwig is obsessed with being scratched and he LOVES playing with his humans. Toys? No interest. Other dogs? Sure. But humans? You’re the main event. He snores with the confidence of a full-grown bear, despite being roughly the size of a sandwich.   Potty training is going well as long as he sticks to his schedule, and he’s working on basic training with a level of enthusiasm that makes up for the whole “can’t hear commands” situation. He’s smart, he’s spirited, and he’s powered entirely by determination, an amazing sniffer, and touch.   If you want a senior pup with the enthusiasm of a puppy, the determination of a tiny explorer, and the comedic timing of a seasoned entertainer, Ludwig is your guy. Be prepared to laugh a lot — this little man is pure joy on four legs. ##2588517##

Story
Meet Nori: Tiny, Spicy, and Loyal to Her Chosen One Looking for a tiny shadow who will idolize you (and only you)? Allow us to present Nori, a Chihuahua with a heart full of love, a dash of drama, and just a sprinkle of diva. Nori currently lives with her foster mom, foster dad, and two teenagers. She worships foster mom like she’s Beyoncé, tolerates the teenagers like a polite celebrity on a press tour, and… well… foster dad is still waiting for his meet-and-greet pass to be approved, he mostly get bounced. But don’t worry—she loves other dogs (big, small, fluffy, bald, questionable fashion sense—no judgment). She absolutely beams at mealtime, thrives in the fresh outdoor air, treasures her tiny toys, and treats comfy pillows like five-star resorts. Now, let’s talk first impressions. Nori will not greet you like you’re long-lost soulmates. She won’t leap joyously into your arms. She will likely give you the side-eye, assess your life choices, and maybe file a silent Yelp review. New humans are… well, complicated. But give her time. As soon as her walls melt and her spicy façade softens, her true self emerges—sweet, quirky, goofy, and hilariously loyal. She transforms from cautious guest to clingy lovebug, personal comedian, and official life companion. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without her. Her ideal home? Calm, peaceful, no young kids. Another friendly dog would be a major plus. Someone patient, kind, and ready to be adored at a legendary level. Because when Nori gives her heart, she gives it completely. She is the icon of unconditional love—the kind that’s earned, cherished, and beautifully deep. Apply to adopt Nori, and prepare to become someone’s entire universe. ##2516279##
