Story
Hey there all, this is Salem. I adopted him from the APS of Durham several years ago. I’m looking for a home with a lot of love and affection for this cute little guy. He is about 10 or 11 years old but still plays like a puppy. He loves all toys and all treats! He’s extremely loyal and enjoys the simpler things in life. Hoping to find the perfect forever home. Ideally a home with him as the only pet as he doesn’t do the best with other animals unless they are bigger than him!

Story
Mel is a ~10-week-old Chihuahua (with a little something extra that gives her those long, model legs). She weighs about 4 pounds now and is expected to stay on the small side—just with extra height and extra attitude. Named after Melissa King from HBO’s The Pitt, Mel embodies her character perfectly: she’s brave, friendly, socially awkward, and sure of herself. She’s the kind of puppy who has a lot of enthusiasm for new experiences. Playtime is her favorite sport, and she brings big “spazz energy” wherever she goes. Mel also came from a hoarding situation, so she’ll need continued work on training and socialization, including things commonly seen in dogs from those environments. She’s still learning how to be a polite little citizen of the world—but she’s curious, resilient, and eager to engage, which makes her a great candidate for positive, consistent training. If you’re looking for a tiny dog with a bold personality, a playful spirit, and a heart that’s bigger than her body, Mel is ready to keep you laughing and on your toes.

Story
Meet Guinness! This sweet 9-week-old pup is on the search for his forever home. Guinness had a bit of a rocky start in life. He came to his local shelter from a hoarding situation and bravely overcame a parvo exposure, and now he’s thriving. Guinness is super soft and at his absolute happiest when he’s being held or curled up snug in your lap. He’s a total cuddle bug who soaks up all the love he can get. He’s also wonderfully curious about the world around him. Every new sight and sound feels like a new adventure, and since the moment he arrived, his little tail has been wagging nonstop, spreading joy everywhere he goes. If you’re looking for a loving, snuggly puppy with a happy heart and endless tail wags, Guinness might be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Meet Skippy! Skippy is a sweet, curious 9-year-old gentleman who proves that age is truly just a number. While he’s wonderfully calm and easygoing around the house, he still has plenty of pep in his step and enjoys getting out and about. Walks are one of his favorite activities, and he’s always up for a game of fetch or a little toy time to keep things fun. After he’s had his exercise and mental stimulation, Skippy is perfectly content to settle in for some quality relaxation. You’ll often find him lounging in a cozy dog bed or curled up on a soft blanket, soaking in the sunshine or just enjoying the calm of his surroundings. He has a naturally gentle, laid-back demeanor that makes him a lovely companion for quieter moments. Skippy is friendly and social — he does well with other dogs and is comfortable around kids, but he would also thrive as the only dog in the home if that’s the right fit. He’s adaptable, affectionate, and happiest when he’s near his people. One guaranteed way to win him over? Belly rubs. He absolutely lives for them and will gladly roll over to request more. It’s also important to know that Skippy will need a dental procedure to address his teeth, but the good news is that the rescue already has this scheduled and will cover the cost. He’ll be feeling even better in no time, ready to enjoy his golden years comfortably. Skippy would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a low-key but still playful companion — a dog who enjoys activity without needing constant stimulation, and who brings a calm, loving presence into the home. If you’re looking for a sweet senior with a big heart and the perfect balance of energy and relaxation, Skippy may be your guy 🐾

Story
🐾 Thatch - A Loyal Little Shadow with a Big Heart Meet Thatch, a 3-year-old, 24-lb Dachshund/Labrador mix with a sleek dark brown coat and an adorable white patch on his chest — and just enough personality to steal your heart. Thatch is a sensitive, thoughtful guy who likes to take a moment to size up new situations. On leash, he can be reactive toward people, but with patient handling and continued training, he’s making great progress. Give him a minute to warm up and you’ll quickly see his true self: a devoted, affectionate best friend who just wants to be near his people. Thatch absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with another friendly or playful pup to show him the ropes. He enjoys playing with toys — both with humans and his dog friends — and when he gets excited, he does the cutest little prance with both front legs that will make you smile every time. He’s fully potty trained and leash trained, sleeps well in his crate at night and when left alone, and is a dream work-from-home companion, happily lounging nearby while you tackle your day. Thatch would do best in a home: With no kids With another dog who has a calm or playful temperament With adopters who are confident, patient, and committed to slow, thoughtful introductions to new people Thatch likes to know who’s around so he feels safe — and once he does, he becomes an extreme cuddler. He loves building cozy blanket forts, exploring the backyard, rolling in the grass, and soaking up the sun. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who bonds deeply and will reward your patience with endless love, Thatch might just be your perfect match. Apply to adopt Thatch today!
