Story
Meet Sandwich a.k.a Sandy!! This new mama came to us with her pup Jelly, and is an absolute delight to be around! She is around 2 years old and weighs in at a whopping 14 lbs! She is a little shy in new environments and around new people but it doesn't take long for her to cozy up in your arms and stare deeply into your eyes with all of the love she has! Sandwich is curious but needs some love and encouragement to gain a little confidence! She is house trained, crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is the cutest little cuddle bug! She gets along great with other dogs (with proper introduction of course), but also enjoys her own space. She loves being the center of your attention! If you are looking for a calm, loyal, and tiny companion then Sandwich is the one for you!

Story
Meet Archie, the wise old soul wrapped in a furry, four-legged frame, whose presence lights up any room he enters. With a twinkle in his eye and a wag in his tail and ears as expressive as his personality, Archie embodies the perfect blend of spunk and serenity. Despite his advancing years, Archie's enthusiasm for life remains undiminished, making him the embodiment of ageless charm. Archie's petite stature belies his boundless personality. Whether he's strutting confidently on a leisurely walk or nestled snugly in his favorite spot for a post-stroll nap, Archie approaches every moment with gusto. His love for exploration knows no bounds, yet he remains ever reliable and house-trained, a testament to his impeccable manners and responsible demeanor. But don't mistake his independence for aloofness - Archie is a seasoned pro at melting hearts with his affectionate snuggles. There's nothing quite like the warmth of Archie's presence as he cozies up beside you, his soft fur and gentle demeanor serving as a soothing balm for the soul. In Archie, you'll find not just a pet, but a cherished companion whose loyalty and companionship are unwavering. With each passing day, Archie reminds us that age is but a number, and that true joy can be found in the simple pleasures of a good walk, a cozy nap, and the boundless love of a furry friend. Archie needs some dental work but the rescue will be taking care of the cost of his dental care. Future adopters will have the opportunity to "foster-to-adopt" until his mouth is back to its full glory. Once his dental treatment is complete, the rescue will finalize his adoption. Does it sound like you and Archie might be a good fit for each other? Apply now!

Story
Good things do come in small packages. This little guy is lots of fun! Say hi to Toffee. Named for his beautiful coat, Toffee is a 5-year-old chihuahua mix who weighs a compact 17lbs. Tiny Toffee is a muscular, athletic guy who is definitely in his prime! He loves car rides, long walks, and encountering new wildlife. He is gentle and friendly with cats, dogs, and strangers. Toffee is also a softie - he is very affectionate, secure at your side, and ready to provide cuddles for some extra cheer. The list of Toffee's dislikes is pretty short: nail trims and marshmallows (though he gets credit for trying). A few scratches and scars remain on his head, he is otherwise perfectly healthy. Best of all, this wonderful pup's resilient spirit shines through! Toffee is beyond the drama of adolescence. This little guy is house trained and crate trained, and working on the final touches of his leash skills. Toffee loves a good nap, and after his nap he is ready to team up and explore the great outdoors! Could this affectionate adventurer find his forever home with you?!

Story
Meet Nessie, a 2-year-old 7lb brindle chihuahua that's available for adoption! Nessie was named after the mythical sea creature, the Loch Ness monster (aka Nessie), and like her namesake, she can be quite elusive when you first meet her. She prefers to have strangers at a distance and approach at her own pace. While she can be a little shy, once she gets to know you, she will be your fearless companion and shower you with love and affection. Nessie is very playful and enjoys long games of fetch more than anything else! Seriously, this girl's middle name is FUN. She likes going on walks and does pretty well on a leash, but overall prefers more of a quiet lifestyle. She'll always choose a night at home vs. out and about at a brewery. At night she sleeps in her crate without making a peep and overall does wonderful in her crate. She might whine a bit when her foster parents leave the house, but settles in after a few minutes. She would do equally as good in a home where her parent(s) works from home or goes into the office for work. She also does great in the bath - must be the whole sea monster thing! She does well with other dogs, and think she would be ok with mature kids who are willing to give her some space in first few days in her new home. She hasn't been around any cats, so we aren't sure about them yet. She's healthy, spayed, and up to date on shots/preventatives. Overall, Nessie is a wonderful and sweet girl, but will likely just need a day to come around in her new home. If you're willing to put in this little bit of effort upfront, you'll be rewarded with having an amazing ride-or-die companion. If you're interested in adopting this magical girl, fill out an application at hopeanimals.org!

Story
Meet Cocoa, a sweet little chihuahua mix! She is quite tiny at 3-4 months old so we expect her to stay small when she is full grown. With her beautiful black and brown coat, she's sure to melt your heart! She is a spunky girl who is brave, adventurous, and loves to dance on her hind legs with excitement. We're still learning more about her personality, but like any puppy she will benefit from continued training and socialization. She is doing well with crate training and will need some help with leash training! One thing's for sure, though: she's a bundle of joy just waiting to find her forever home.

Story
ROXIE - COURTESY POSTING Roxie is a middle aged (7-9 year old) chihuahua mix that weighs in at 13 lbs. Roxie was among the 50 that were rescued alive from a hoarding situation in GA, of about 150 dogs. She is spayed now, but has been over bred in the past.  Roxie faces a few challenges; she has exhibited some neurological damage, and her back end doesn’t work as well as it should. Her stride wobbles in the rear and she has a tendency to slide her back feet on the floor. She has occasional accidents that she doesn’t know is happening. She has less feeling back there and tends to bite her feet.  She doesn’t appear to like other dogs, and would enjoy being an only dog. We have not observed her with other pets so we can’t speak to her inter-specie behavior.  Roxie is a very sweet and very loving girl, she is a true lap dog. Her favorite toys are squeaky toys that she will squeak until they stop. Roxie doesn’t bark a lot, but she does have an adorable snore. She is crate trained. Roxie would perfectly fit in a home with lots of patience, love and attention. She is truly a delightful girl.  She is spayed, UTD on shots, HW neg and on HW prevention. Her adoption donation is $250.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
