FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!!
***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form***
We would love to welcome Mary into the Fetch + Releash family April 14th (subject to change). In order for Mary to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take her home on her arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.
Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.
Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care.
During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.
Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Mary / Female / 8 months / 12 pounds / Chihuahua Mix / from Tennessee
Another day, another poor dog brought into the world without a plan for care. Thankfully, Mary was surrendered to our partners, where she found safety from a life of abandonment. Now, she's looking for her forever home, where she can experience the love and comfort she deserves.
Mary is young, still a pup and due to her current home she is not able to expel her energy. From what we know she is likely medium energy but due to not having regular routine with walks and playtime, upon arrival she may have some extra energy to burn. Her new family will need to be committed to working with her on basic training such and walking on a leash as well as potty training. She would benefit from pee pad training while learning to walk on leash if her new home doesn't have a yard. Good news though, Mary is familiar with a crate and it's safe to say she is crate trained. Her crate will likely provide her a space that she feels safe in as she decompresses and adjusts to her new environment.
Mary's small size makes her adaptable to various living situations. She would prefer a quieter neighborhood over a busy city, where she can build her confidence. Whether it's a home with a yard or a cozy apartment, Mary will be grateful to have a place to call her own.
Although she hasn't had much exposure to other dogs she does share her space with another dog she was surrendered with. Large dogs may be intimidating but it's not to say she can't adjust to life alongside a larger respectful canine companion. Mary can be shy when meeting new people but she is a sweet gal. Although she has not been tested her temperament suggest she would do well in a home with children who can be respectful of her space, giving her time to adjust to her new surroundings. Mary lives on a property where she has been exposed to cats and due to her size could possibly live along a dog savvy cat. She has not been tested but with the appropriate boundaries we expect they could live together in harmony in time.
Despite her rough start, Mary has a big heart and loads of potential. With the love and support of her new family, her life is sure to be filled with joy, laughter, and everlasting memories.
As a condition of the adoption contract Mary’s new family will be required to attend and complete a basic obedience class at their own cost (proof required).
