Story
Kevin was in a house with over 50 Chihuahuas   Meet Kevin, an approximately 5-6 year old chihuahua.  He is a sweet, smart, calm, and happy little man.  He had a rough start to life, living in a hoarding situation with over 50 chihuahuas.  Because of this, he can be a timid boy, and might become unsure in certain situations.  He will seek out a place to hide when this happens, but is completely non aggressive when afraid.    Kevin needs a home that will be patient with him as he overcomes his fears, and he has big made strides in his current foster home, having overcome his fear of the other dogs in the house to the point of ignoring them.  He absolutely loves his foster dad, and follows him everywhere, always hopping into his lap when he sits down, and even better if he has a treat, because they are SO delish!  He loves sleeping in his foster dad’s bed, because who doesn’t like a thick comfy mattress to crash on for the night!    With new people in the house, Kevin is friendly and will jump into their lap for a snuggly hello.  Given what he's been through, this adorable boy really does show a remarkable ability to trust people. He is a perfect gentleman at the vets office and loves the car ride over in his crate or using a doggie seatbelt.  After all, safety first!   Kevin prefers to be inside and does not enjoy time in the yard.  His new family will have to leash him to take him out to go to the bathroom. Speaking of which, Kevin is working hard on housetraining, and is even learning to go potty on command.  How smart is that!?!  For his own safety, Kevin is crated when left alone and should be leashed in any unfenced situation due to his fears and being a flight risk. The sound of the leash clipping on and off can be alarming to him but he is getting used to it with time, showing how brave this little chap can be with some love and patience.   Kevin comes neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Story
Layla has been with me ever since I rescued and bottle feed her as an abandoned 5 week old puppy. She is 7 now and as difficult as it is, she needs a new home. Life has taken unexpected turns for me leading me to move to the city for the first time in Layla's life. She has always been a generally anxious baby (queue in chihuahua energy). In the suburbs and in rural areas where I lived over the past decade she dealt well, only being troublesome around children and vacuum cleaners. These days she is insurmountably stressed. I have tried CBD and various types of behavioral/ reactive training to ease her anxiety about all city things but to no effect. She has prescription anxiety medication which she very rarely needed to take when her environment was peaceful. With that, I am looking for an experience dog human who lives in a calm place to offer her a forever home. I would love for her to be the only dog but she has done well with other dogs that are peaceful.

Story
Meet Minty: Your Future Best Friend! About Minty: Minty is a sweet and gentle 2-year-old Chihuahua mix who has come a long way from her days in a municipal shelter. We don’t know much about her past, but her initial fear and distrust indicate she might have had a tough start in life. When she was first rescued, she was shaking and scared, unsure of the world around her. Personality: Minty is a loving and loyal companion once she gets to know you. Although she was initially wary of both men and women, with time and patience, she has learned to trust and even show affection to her caretakers. She is a bit of a shy girl, especially around men, and may take a while to warm up to new people. However, with gentle and understanding handling, she blossoms into a loving and loyal friend. Living Situation: Minty currently lives in a kennel in Turkey, but she’s ready to find her forever home. She can coexist with cats, though she’s a bit timid around them. She would do best with a submissive and calm dog companion if there’s another dog in the home. Favorite Things: Minty absolutely loves her treats! They are the key to her heart and can help in building trust and bonding with her. Ideal Home: Minty needs a patient and understanding family who can give her the time she needs to adjust and feel safe. Because of her fear of men, she might do better in a household with women or with very gentle and patient men. A calm and peaceful environment would be perfect for her, where she can feel secure and loved. Adoption Requirements: A patient and understanding adopter A calm household Gentle handling and care Preferably a female adopter or very patient males Submissive and calm dog companions (if any) Willingness to give Minty the time she needs to trust and settle Minty can fly to Toronto or Vancouver when she finds her forever home!
