When a new person walks in, he trots right up with his tail going, ready to make a friend. He's a cheerful 9 month old Chihuahua who spends his days playing with his dog friends and his evenings curled up with his people.Quick Facts: Breed: Chihuahua · Sex: Male · Born: December 1, 2025 (9 months old) · Weight: 2.9 kg · Location: Korea · Traits: Cheerful, social, smart, loves people · Health: Neutered, vaccinated, healthyBackground: Mayo and his brother Tongki 3 were rescued together from a puppy mill in Gimpo in December 2025. They were newborns at the time, so tiny their eyes were still closed. Since then, Mayo has been growing up at our partner shelter, with plenty of people and dogs around him. Today he's a bright, outgoing puppy who meets every new experience with curiosity.Personality: Mayo is a typical 9 month old puppy in the best way. Mornings start with him barking at the kennel door, asking to be let out as soon as someone arrives. What he loves most is running laps with his dog friends, followed closely by toys and treats. A new person, a new room, or a new object all get the same response: he hurries over to check it out. His energy is moderate. He plays hard until he runs out of steam, and more than once he's fallen asleep right in the middle of a game. When nobody's around to play with, he's happy to nap.Compatibility: Mayo loves meeting people. He goes up to strangers with a wagging tail, and it makes no difference to him whether they're men or women. He has played nicely with young children under school age. Cuddles happen on his terms. If you pick him up when he'd rather be on the floor, he'll squirm until you let him go. But when he decides he wants to be held, he'll settle in and won't budge.Mayo hasn't lived with cats before, so we can't say for certain how he'd do. Knowing his friendly nature, though, we think it's possible with a slow, gradual introduction, plenty of patience, and enough space for each of them to have their own retreat while they get used to one another.With other dogs, Mayo does best with small ones about his size, and his favorite game is chasing each other around the room. He may bark if he spots a big dog in the distance. He has a confident streak and knows what belongs to him. If another dog gets too close while he's having a treat, he'll let out a small grumble. Feeding him and handing out treats with some space between dogs helps keep everyone relaxed.Behaviours & Training: Mayo goes on an indoor pad about 80% of the time and is still getting the hang of it. He's learning to walk on a leash and harness. In the car, he rests quietly in his crate. He's easy at the vet and doesn't mind baths, brushing, or nail trims. He isn't fond of having his face handled, though, so a gentle touch around his head during grooming or checkups goes a long way. He loves chewing on his toys, and if he gets bored, he may go for a drawer handle instead, so keeping a few toys around is a good idea. He knows his name. He'll bark at a big dog outside the window or when visitors arrive, and after being asked to stop, he quiets down after a few more barks.Health & Diet: Mayo is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccinations. He takes a monthly parasite preventative. He has an overbite, which is common in small dogs and doesn't affect his eating or play. His teeth are clean and none are missing. He has no known allergies, no digestive or skin issues, and no history of additional surgeries or treatments. He has passed the veterinary screening and is healthy and ready for a forever home. He eats kibble twice a day and has not shown any food allergies or sensitivities so far. He's a good eater, though he'll notice if medicine is hidden in his food and leave it in the bowl.Ideal Home: Mayo would do best with someone who works from home or is retired, so he isn't left alone for long stretches and has company throughout the day. As a young dog still new to the world, he'll thrive with a patient adopter who can guide him gently through new experiences as he grows. He's a happy, easygoing puppy and a clever little boy. A family who loves spending time together, going on outings and making time for play every day, would be a great match. A friendly, playful dog in the home would make his days even better.
