Story
Dexter is a 4-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund (chi-weenie) mix weighing approximately 26 pounds. He came to us when his owner died and he was being kept in a tiny cage. He is timid but has come a long way. He loves to play tug of war and he is very strong. He gets along with the other dogs but has not been cat or kid-tested. He is friendly and lovable when he gets to know you. His adoption donation is $250 which includes his neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. He is heartworm-negative and on monthly prevention. He is still grieving for the loss of his owner and home so please help him heal. https://www.aforeverhomeanimalrescue.org/store/p42/Dexter.html We are only able to adopt within the state of Florida. We have a page on our website that explains our adoption process, and contains a link to our adoption application. Here is the link: https://www.aforeverhomeanimalrescue.org/adoption-information.html

Story
Poor little Tater. He was surrendered to a shelter in North Florida an transported to our rescue. He was adopted for less than a month until her adopter injured her leg causing her to be unable to care for him so she recently returned him. Now Tater Tot is afraid that he'll be abandoned so he follows his foster mom everywhere. This little 10 lb, 10 year old dog a ts like a puppy when leashed for a walk so his "pulling on the leash" is something that we're working on. Due to cataracts, he has some vision loss. Tater Tot has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. He's current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Tater's adoption fee is $50. Applications to adopt are at kathisk9s.org Meet greets are scheduled only for approved applicants

Story
Kennedy is a unique and resilient pup who’s still figuring out how to trust. He’s had a rough start, but underneath his uncertainty is a dog who truly wants love—he just needs patience and the right approach. This guy is house-trained (no accidents here!) and crate-trained, settling in without complaint at night. He also does well in a playpen when left alone for short periods. He loves his toys, especially Nylabones and balls, but can be a little possessive with them. Kennedy enjoys being near his people - he follows them from room to room, wags his tail to show his feelings, and even gives kisses. He may ask for affection by bumping against you or jumping in your lap but then growl or nip when actually petted. Kennedy knows "come" and "sit", but treats (especially chicken!) help him stay engaged. He’s leash-reactive when it comes to putting it on or taking it off, especially around his neck, but once he’s walking, he does well - though 15 minutes is his max before he’s exhausted. He clearly has a history of being fed from the table and will wait at mealtime for a better offer- but don’t fall for it! Kennedy needs an experienced, patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. His ideal home is one where: He can continue learning boundaries in a structured environment, touch and handling are approached with patience and care, he has a predictable routine and a safe space to retreat when needed, and he’s allowed to bond at his own pace - on his terms PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $150 and you can adopt me at www.polkadogz.org. ##2510665##

Cracker Jack is a blind male Dachshund with a joyful spirit and a personality that shines brighter than the sun. Though he can’t see the world around him, he experiences it with confidence, curiosity, and a whole lot of heart. This sweet, loving boy navigates life with ease and enthusiasm, proving every day that blindness doesn’t slow down his happiness or his zest for fun. Playful and affectionate, Cracker Jack adores being near his people. He’ll happily trot toward the sound of your voice, wagging his tail with excitement, ready for cuddles or a game of gentle play. His charming personality shows in everything he does—from the way he snuggles close to the way he perks up when he hears you coming. Story
This little ~6 year old man definitely has mannerisms of a Chi and Min Pin, as well as some cat tendencies. He will let you know when he is done being pet. He does not have to be the center of attention, but if he’s trying to get your attention, he will make himself known either by making raptor noises, barking, or planting himself right on your lap. He is a little cautious at first, but does not choose a single person, he is an equal opportunity love receiver. He loves to run around and take in his surroundings but does prefer to keep a small comfy circle. Places he goes back to to sleep, places he relaxes, even enjoys relaxing in his crate. He loves to give dog kisses and will be a perfect couch partner for his human .He’s still figuring out toys… if they make noise, then he’s not fan, he’s scared. He’s also not sure what to do yet with sticks. Great with Dogs, but def no cats, or if you wish to introduce, the cat needs to be dog savvy (would introduce on leash only). PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good.
