Story
Toby is a 7-month-old, 26-pound dachshund mix pup who is a total sweetheart. Although Toby's story began with heartbreak when he was separated from his mom at a high kill shelter, Toby ended up getting a great foster home, where he is loved by his foster parents and his foster siblings, and if you see his video, you will see him thriving like he never was in a shelter. Toby loves playing with his foster siblings, and enjoys stretching out in the sunshine for a relaxing afternoon sunbath. He is very obedient and loves to be a lapdog with his foster mom. He has blossomed into a loyal little companion who will quietly follow you everywhere. He is playful, incredibly sweet, and completely non-confrontational. He does not resource guard and has wonderful manners around his doggie and kittie foster siblings. Toby currently lives with six dogs and one cat and gets along beautifully with all of them. He absolutely thrives in the company of other pets and looks to them for reassurance and confidence. Because of this, a happy, confident, playful dog in the home is required. Toby is a very smart puppy and a quick learner who continues to make progress every day. He spends a lot of energy observing his surroundings and making sure everything is okay, so a calm environment will help him relax and continue gaining confidence. After everything he has been through, it's understandable that Toby will thrive in the right home. For a family willing to give him patience, kindness, and time, Toby will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a bond that is truly special. Toby is fully vaccinated, neutered and heartworm negative. He is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. To meet this amazing pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Toby's adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, and harness. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.

Story
Loretta is an estimated 8-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua/Papillon mix with a gentle, easygoing personality and a story that proves just how different a dog can be once they feel safe. Loretta came to us as a stray from the Alvin shelter. She was extremely scared in the shelter environment and difficult to handle at first, so once her stray hold was over, the shelter reached out and asked us to take her. The moment Loretta got into a home, everything changed. The frightened little dog everyone had been worried about turned into an absolute sweetheart. Loretta is a quiet, affectionate girl who enjoys being close to her person. She loves curling up beside you on the couch, but she’s equally content tucked into a cozy dog bed nearby. She gets along well with other dogs and will occasionally play, although she prefers gentle interaction over rough-and-tumble puppy nonsense. She mostly ignores cats and does well with older children who understand how to carefully handle a small dog. She rides well in the car, sleeps peacefully through the night in a dog bed, and does well going outside to potty when taken out regularly. Loretta is also well behaved in the house and doesn’t tend to get into things, so while she can be crated, she generally doesn’t need to be. Loretta walks on a leash, although “walks on a leash” may be a generous description. Loretta chooses a destination and appreciates a human willing to follow along. At eight years old, she feels she has earned some decision-making authority. When Loretta arrived, she had significant dental disease and an abscessed tooth that had caused a small area beneath her eye to rupture and drain. She has since had a dental with the problem tooth removed and is doing well. She also has a Grade 3 heart murmur that will need to be monitored with her veterinarian. Loretta is fully vetted, including a full exam, spay, dental, vaccinations, and microchip. She is heartworm negative and current on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. After being so frightened in the shelter, Loretta has shown us that what she really needed was somewhere she could exhale. Now she’s ready for a quiet, loving home where she can spend the rest of her years on couches, in cozy beds, and occasionally taking her person for a walk in whatever direction she chooses. Loretta is located in Santa Fe, TX, and her adoption fee is $350. Apply to adopt at www.tpsrescue.com

Story
Meet Cookie, a Chihuahua who is every bit as sweet as her name suggests! This little lady has the kind of sweetness that makes you wonder how she ever ended up in a shelter in the first place. Cookie is ready to retire from shelter life and move on to bigger and better things—namely, a cozy home, a soft bed, and a permanent residence in the nearest lap! She’s small enough to fit just about anywhere, but we suspect Cookie’s favorite place will be wherever her person is. She’s ready to trade kennel life for comfort, companionship, and all the love that comes with being someone’s very special little dog. If you’ve been searching for a sweet little Chihuahua to add a little extra joy to your life, Cookie is ready to clock out of shelter life for good. Her bags are packed, her retirement plan is simple, and the nearest lap is calling her name!

Story
All hail King, the spry little chiweenie with the ears of a legend! At 7 years old, King has perfected the art of being completely comfortable in his own royal company. He’s independent, curious, and always ready to investigate whatever is happening around him. And if there’s a treat involved? Even better. King is a VERY enthusiastic treat connoisseur and is more than happy to demonstrate his excellent snack-detection skills. King isn’t looking to be fussed over 24/7. He’s got his own thing going on and would love a home where he can explore, settle in, enjoy some tasty rewards, and be his wonderfully quirky self. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big personality, a curious mind, an independent spirit, and absolutely spectacular ears, King is ready to meet his subjects!
