Story
At just 6 months old and 7 pounds, little Laverne the Chiweenie is the perfect pocket-sized companion with a big personality! This adorable girl is full of playful charm and brings joy everywhere she goes. With her bright eyes and happy spirit, she’s always ready for fun, cuddles, and being your shadow. Laverne has been through more than a puppy ever should. When her previous family was deported, she and her sister Shirley suddenly found themselves without a home. Despite the change, Laverne has remained a loving, resilient, and happy pup who is ready to start her next chapter with a forever family. She has a wonderful medium energy level — playful and fun, but also happy to relax and snuggle. Laverne gets along beautifully with other dogs, cats, and kids, making her a fantastic addition to almost any home. She is pee pad trained and doing great with her puppy manners. Laverne is fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and kept on all preventatives, so she’s completely ready for her forever home. This tiny girl has so much love to give and is just waiting for someone to give her the safe, happy life she deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, and devoted little companion, Laverne is your girl. ❤️ Laverne can be adopted solo or together with her sister Shirley. They are both currently being fostered in Houston but can be transported to several states, including Canada to the right home. Send an application via savesomesouls.com as the first step to complete the process.

Story
Sweet little Shirley is a 6-month-old Chiweenie who weighs just 6 pounds, but her heart is full of quiet love. This precious girl is shy at first, but once she feels safe, her true personality shines through — gentle, loving, and deeply devoted to her person. Shirley’s world turned upside down when her parents were deported, and she and her sister Laverne suddenly found themselves in rescue. Despite everything she’s been through, Shirley remains a tender, sweet pup who simply wants a calm, loving home where she can feel secure again. She has a low energy level and would be happiest in a peaceful home. Shirley gets along well with dogs, cats, and respectful children, though because of her small size and shy nature, she would do best in a home without very young kids. She is pee pad trained, crate trained, and leash trained, and she’s a very easy little companion. Shirley is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and kept on preventatives — completely ready for her forever family. She is currently being fostered in Houston and can be transported anywhere in the United States. For adopters in Canada, pickup will need to be arranged on the U.S. side, as puppies under 8 months cannot enter Canada. Shirley may be tiny and shy, but the love she gives is enormous. She just needs someone patient and kind to show her that she’s home forever.

Story
SWEET, CALM CHIWEENIE  DOB 1/1/18, weight 11 # Hey there, everyone! I’m Campanita, a very sweet and calm chestnut-and-white Chihuahua/ Dachshund mix, which is also known as a Chiweenie. I have the upright “bat” ears of a Chi and the Doxie’s elongated torso. My name is Spanish for Tinker Bell (as in “Peter Pan”), and I’m an affectionate, lovey-dovey gal who likes nothing better than to be nestled in my foster mom’s lap. Since I particularly like to hang out with hoomans, I follow my foster mom around the house just so that I can be a gentle, quiet presence near her. I get along great with the resident cats and well-behaved dogs in my foster home. I was rescued from a heartless owner who endlessly bred me so that he could sell my Chiweenie puppies. Finally when I was eight years old and had a difficult time birthing my last litter, he realized that he couldn’t exploit me anymore. It did not take much convincing by my HOPE volunteer advocates that it was in my best interests for him to surrender me to them. Boy howdy! That was the first day in the rest of my life! How things changed when someone started loving me – no strings attached -- instead of trying to use me for personal gain. Despite my tough history, I’m resilient! Now I’m ready to get firmly ensconced in everyone’s lap in order to share my sweet disposition and calm companionship with my forever family. Could it be you who will surround me with all the love I so deeply deserve? If so, arrange to meet me today! I promise to leave tiny paw prints all over your heart – just like I will patter around as your little shadow, following you throughout the house as you go about your daily activities. HOPE ID D26-0124-0006 Campanita’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. To apply online:http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site Campanita will be this weekend, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you. Story
LOVES TO CUDDLE WITH HIS HOOMANS  DOB 8/1/25, weight 12 # Hey there, everyone! I’m Pablo, a sweet, friendly, and affectionate ball of energy who’s also a black Chihuahua mix fella with four white slippers! I do best with lots of close family contact. Wouldn’t you know that cuddling in Foster Mom’s lap is my favorite spot and where I require plenty of quality time? I adore playing with the other small dogs in my foster home, and I get along great with the resident cats and with kids. My size makes me an ideal apartment dog, but I relish my daily exercise. Nothing makes me happier than for Foster Mom to invest her time and energy into treating me like a big dog. I make it easy for her because, young as I am, I’m learning to walk on a leash and am crate-trained. True confessions: I’m still working on getting housebroken. I was found wandering the mean streets of Houston. Thank heavens a Good Samaritan scooped me up because I was much too small and young to fend for myself. I was so grateful to be welcomed into my foster home, but I’m now ready to bring my adorable puppy perkiness and loving personality to my forever home. Could that be with you? Then arrange to meet me today! I promise to leave itsy-bitsy paw prints all over your heart. HOPE ID D25-1227-0057 Pablo’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. To apply online:http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site Pablo will be this weekend, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you. Story
Pongo is a super sweet whippet/lab mix who is just about a year old. He is an incredibly adorable and loving pup with a beautiful disposition. Pongo is very friendly, well-mannered, and enjoys being around people. When he first meets you, he may jump up a little from puppy excitement — but the wonderful thing about Pongo is that he listens! As soon as you tell him “no” or ask him to settle, he immediately stops and responds well to guidance. Pongo is fully vetted, neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, microchipped, and kept on heartworm and flea prevention. He is healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home. Pongo would do great in a home that will continue his basic training, give him love, structure, and playtime, and include him as part of the family. He has so much love to give and will make a loyal, fun, and affectionate companion. Pongo is good with dogs, he is fine with cats and lives around both. He loves people and trusts them fully. He was rescued from a high kill shelter of Texas. Pongo is about 50 lb, neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and kept on heartworm and flea prevention. He is currently being fostered in Texas but can be transported to most states, and even Canada for the right home. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, and friendly young dog to add joy to your life, Pongo might be your perfect match 🐾💙 Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. To meet this amazing pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Pongo's adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness and Transport Fee to several states in the United States. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
