Story
Toby is a 7-month-old, 26-pound dachshund mix pup who is a total sweetheart. Although Toby's story began with heartbreak when he was separated from his mom at a high kill shelter, Toby ended up getting a great foster home, where he is loved by his foster parents and his foster siblings, and if you see his video, you will see him thriving like he never was in a shelter. Toby loves playing with his foster siblings, and enjoys stretching out in the sunshine for a relaxing afternoon sunbath. He is very obedient and loves to be a lapdog with his foster mom. He has blossomed into a loyal little companion who will quietly follow you everywhere. He is playful, incredibly sweet, and completely non-confrontational. He does not resource guard and has wonderful manners around his doggie and kittie foster siblings. Toby currently lives with six dogs and one cat and gets along beautifully with all of them. He absolutely thrives in the company of other pets and looks to them for reassurance and confidence. Because of this, a happy, confident, playful dog in the home is required. Toby is a very smart puppy and a quick learner who continues to make progress every day. He spends a lot of energy observing his surroundings and making sure everything is okay, so a calm environment will help him relax and continue gaining confidence. After everything he has been through, it's understandable that Toby will thrive in the right home. For a family willing to give him patience, kindness, and time, Toby will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a bond that is truly special. Toby is fully vaccinated, neutered and heartworm negative. He is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. To meet this amazing pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Toby's adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, and harness. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.

Story
Carmen was my mother's dog and lived with us while I was her caregiver the last few years of her life. She is a very sweet, gentle, playful and loving girl. She is very well-behaved and loves to just be near you and cuddle. She loves walks and being outside. Carmen has a very sweet and calm demeanor. She gets playful when she goes outside and loves to play fetch with her toys. Carmen gets to know the household routines and enjoys a morning and evening treat and has dinner around 6:00pm. She loves to play with small plushy toys. Carmen is very easygoing and loves all people. She would do well with a single owner, or a family as well. She gets along very well with other dogs and cats. She would love to have a yard to explore, but as long as she gets walks outside she is happy. Carmen is puppy pad trained, so can live with an owner that is out of the house for work during the day. She's an easy dog to love!

Story
I’ve had royalty since she was born, but unfortunately with my busy work schedule I’m not able to play or do much with her. She’s very energetic and loves to be rubbed! Royalty is very shy, but once she’s warmed up to you she’s a ball of energy. She’s about 8 years old (in human years) but loves to play just like a puppy! In her new home she’ll need someone willing to be patient and give her the playfulness, love and attention she deserves!
