Story
Hola Osita! This 6-yr old lady was adopted from us, along with her brother Oso, as a young pup. Sadly, they've both found their back to the shelter as their current owner no longer has time for them. Like typical small breeds, Osita and Oso aren't fans of the water, but they LOVE snuggling up against their humans in bed or on the couch (preferably in your lap). They're not fans of cats but do well with children and use their biggest and most ferocious sounding barks to defend their yard from any delivery drivers, passersby, or any other canines out for a walk - never fear! Osita and Oso have only ever known life together and need to be adopted as a pair, but that just means you get double the love! Call to meet Osita and her brother Oso and fill your home with two tiny amigos today!

Story
Time on the streets took a heavy toll on Holler and his buddy Hoot. Neither were in the best shape when they arrived at GIHS. And though Hoot has begun to heal physically, it's his heart that needs the most doctoring now. He's a timid guy, prone to hiding behind people he's uncertain about as he shivers and hunches. But we can see it in his eyes, Holler wants to want affection. He's not reactive in the form of snarling or snapping, he's simply afraid and needs slow, consistent reassurance. Holler would do best with a family willing to offer him patience and the space to learn to love again, who won't take it personally that Holler has a history he's still working to put behind him. If you think that could be you, we encourage you to come and meet him for yourself!

Story
Say hello to Hoot, but not too loud, it may scare him. Hoot wasn't in the best health when he arrived here with his street companion, Holler. While his body has been healing nicely, Hoot still struggles with some emotional scars. He's a nervous guy who isn't too sure about people, but from what we've seen, it's clear that Hoot WANTS to learn to love again. He tries his very best, taking cautious sniffs of those who come near, and accepting being held so long as there's a blanket between his skin and yours. Healing takes time, of course. What Hoot could really use is a family who is willing to give that to him, along with patience and understanding that he has quite a bit of distrust to unlearn. With the right people, we have no doubt that Hoot will get there. Could you be the one to help him do it?

Story
I found Scout on the street last March. Apparently she had been dumped, according to people in the area. I had never planned to keep her but couldn't bring myself to take her to a shelter. I work multiple jobs and am going back to school soon as well, and I simply don't have time to give her the attention she deserves. I believe she is mostly, if not completely deaf. This is the sweetest dog. She loves everyone. I will only let her go to an excellent, loving home.

Story
Rudy is an approximately 9-year-old, 15-pound sweetheart with the kind of gentle soul that makes you want to sit down and stay awhile. He came to rescue after being found running loose, and despite posters and social media posts, no one ever came forward to claim him. Their loss is truly someone else’s gain. Rudy is a total couch potato who loves cuddling and being close. He is calm, affectionate, and incredibly easy to have around. He does well with pottying outside as long as he’s taken out regularly and settles into a routine with no fuss. He gets along well with other dogs, ignores cats, and travels beautifully in the car. He walks on leash and enjoys taking his time to explore the world at his own pace. Rudy has limited vision in his right eye, but it does not slow him down or impact his quality of life. He navigates just fine and goes about his day happily. Rudy is a good eater, especially when treats are involved, and has a preference for canned food. Overall, he is a low-maintenance, loving companion who truly just wants a warm lap, a comfy couch, and someone to share snacks with. Rudy is fully vetted, including a full exam, neuter, dental, vaccinations, deworming, and fecal testing. He is current on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Rudy is located in Santa Fe, TX, and his adoption fee is $450. Apply to adopt at www.tpsrescue.com

Story
Dexter is an older guy, somewhere around 8–10 years old, about 13 pounds, and honestly just an easy dog to love. He was found as a stray and never reclaimed, which is hard to understand once you meet him because he’s friendly, sweet, and seems happy to be wherever his people are. Dexter is the kind of dog who fits right into your life without needing much from you. He walks nicely on a leash, rides great in the car, and loves tagging along for errands or trips. At home, he’s quiet and content, perfectly happy lounging nearby and keeping you company. He’s affectionate without being demanding and has that calm, steady presence that makes everything feel a little more relaxed. He came into rescue heartworm positive, went through fast kill treatment like a champ, and is now fully cleared. He’s also had an extensive dental and is feeling really good. Overall, he’s in great shape and ready to enjoy a comfortable, loved life. Dexter is fully vetted, including a full exam, neuter, dental, vaccinations, deworming, and fecal testing. He is current on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. If you’re looking for a dog who doesn’t need training marathons or constant entertainment, just a couch, a few walks, and someone to sit near, Dexter might be your guy. Dexter is located in Houston, TX, and his adoption fee is $300. Apply to adopt at www.tpsrescue.com

Story
Da Vinci is a 4-year-old, 10-pound orange and white parti Pomeranian with a gentle soul and a sweetness that shows the moment he settles into your arms. He arrives a bit timid, but once he feels safe he becomes the most devoted little snuggle buddy. He loves being close, cuddling in bed, and following his person from room to room with quiet affection. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and does well with cats too. His personality is soft, calm, and easygoing, and he fits into a home without any fuss. Da Vinci is still learning about life outside of a breeder environment, so patience and routine will help him continue building confidence. Like many dogs new to home life, he is working on leash manners and potty training. He does best with structure, gentle encouragement, and a predictable routine. With time, he will thrive under the care of someone who enjoys offering steady guidance and lots of love. If you are looking for a snuggly companion who warms up into a loyal little shadow, Da Vinci is your boy. Da Vinci is fully vetted, including a full exam, neuter, dental, vaccinations, deworming, and fecal testing. He is current on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Da Vinci is fostered in College Station, TX, and his adoption fee is $550. Apply to adopt at www.tpsrescue.com .
