Lilly was brought into a veterinary clinic to be euthanized because she had become "inconvenient". One of the vet techs (along with the vet) decided against that route and took her to the Carson shelter for a temporary hold until a rescue could be found. We could not say no. Lilly is sweet, even tempered and loves to take walks. She is a very good eater (and could actually stand to lose a few pounds) Medically, Lilly had some issues. She had a badly injured right eye which had to be removed. There was also the issue of an umbilical hernia and four mammary tumors. All of which have been take care of. Lilly's foster says she is an absolute delight! Having one eye doesn't slow her down and neither does her age. 12/1/25- Pepper came to us with her puppies about 2 and half months ago. Now is her time to shine. She is a wonderful . Sweet but shy pup. She loves all dogs of all sizes. She is very passive and shy. She does wiggle her cute butt like crazy but will dance around debating if she should come pick your hand. She is great with children. If you have the time and patience to give. You will never regret her. She had a very gentle spirit and lots of love to give. She rides well in thr car. She went to the vet and received her clean bill of health and shots. She is about a year and half and 15lbs. ELSA IS BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ELSA'S STORY: Elsa is a beautiful adult female Cocker Spaniel. Presumed to be a hit-by-car dog, she was rescued from the LA County Carson Shelter on 1/11/24, and taken directly to the VCA in anticipation of orthopedic surgery. Elsa was picked up by animal control with duct tape wrapped around a fractured leg. :( The shelter sent her to an outside vet for x-rays and removal of the duct-taped bandages, which were replaced with a soft cast while she awaited further treatment. Elsa saw a surgical specialist who repaired her radial ulna fracture, and she is now receiving post-op therapy in her foster home with Hershey & Violet. Elsa has been sweet and friendly with her foster siblings - as well as her care providers. What a good girl! Her age estimate* is about 7-9 years old, and she weighs about 22 pounds. Elsa exhibits some stranger danger (being disturbed by, and barking at people on the street, people she doesn't know) and also has separation anxiety. She'll need some focused training with a force-free trainer to help her with these issues. This is an absolutely adorable sweetheart of a gal. Found as a stray in the outskirts of Bakersfield, she was luckily picked up a kind women. We took over from there. Posie walks great on a leash. Is a super ez going and loving gal. We discovered that she is prone to seizures and will require daily medication. Other than that, she is AMAZING. This is a really wonderful and ridiculously cute girl. We are guesstimating she is around 3 years old. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required.
