Story
Mina is a cute girl who is always down for some fun! Mina is estimated to be about a year old, and she is a smart and happy girl. She missed out on some socialization as a young puppy, so she is still learning about the world, but has blossomed in foster care and can't wait to meet her fur-ever family. Mina currently weighs about 25lbs, and appears to be fully grown. Mina came to us from our partners, BONES Pet Rescue in Covelo. Mina and her sister (who has already been adopted) were found on a remote road, likely dumped by their previous owners. A friend of BONES found the puppies and brought them to the rescue. After some TLC, they were transferred to one of our foster homes. Mina is a curious and playful girl who likes to make new friends and romp around in the yard. She enjoys gentle pets and will even give you sweet kissies if you're lucky. She is still learning all the ropes of being a dog and needs a family who can be patient with her while she learns and gains confidence. One thing that really helps her feel comfortable is having dog friends. We are hoping she can be adopted by someone who has a confident dog for her to bond with and can help mentor her. Mina is going to be a great companion for someone who is committed to continuing her training and socialization. She is an active and smart girl who learns quickly, especially if yummy treats are involved. Mina has done great with dogs of all sizes, but can be a tad too playful for older dogs, so would do best with a dog who can keep up with her energetic personality. Mina has done well with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Mina has done well with being around livestock and even an extra-large tortoise. She would be a great addition to a farm! Due to her shy personality, Mina would do best in a home with kids older than 10 years old. Mina is house and crate trained.  She has been doing well being left alone in her crate and sleeping through the night in there. She knows how to climb fences, so she shouldn't be trusted in a yard alone until she has fully settled in and bonded with her new family. Mina is such a great little girl who has so much potential. If she sounds like the sidekick you have been looking for, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application.   Mina's adoption fee is $300.   A pply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
I have him since he was a puppy. Now, he’s 6 yrs old. He stays with us inside the house. He can be active, can be sit with me for hours in the couch as well. He’s still needs to walk at least once a day. He’s pretty good with other dogs, just need to introduce him slowly. He sometimes pulls during walk, especially in the beginning and when seeing other dogs, but he’s small, so it’s very easy to control. He has a lot of hair, so yeah, we have to vacuum a lot. Overall, he’s a good companion.

Story
Remi is a wonderful dog in many ways. She is a beautiful 4 year old shepherd/collie mix with a very sweet personality, eager to please, bonds with her person quickly and is very gentle and even protective of young children and her person. She walks beautifully on a leash (and off-leash right by your side) and indifferent to the presence of other dogs on walks. Energy level is on lower end. We adopted Remi in March from a family that had to relocate due to military orders. Unfortunately they didn’t disclose her challenges and moved right after. She chases/lunges/nips cats, is aggressive toward dogs in her space and very nervous toward strange men (lunges/nips at their but). We’ve worked with a private trainer who has agreed that our home is not the right place for her. We genuinely care for Remi and we believe she will thrive in the right environment. Remi’s ideal home is with a single woman (or couple) who work from or are retired, live a fairly quiet life with no cats.

Story
Possum is the quiet guardian with the softest soul. He doesn’t rush, doesn’t worry, and doesn’t do drama. He calmly strolls around, checking in on everyone like he’s making sure the world is still kind. Life wasn’t always good for him but he’s incredibly gentle and as sweet as they come. If you’re lucky, he will gently kiss you on the tip of your nose once he gets to know you. Possum is looking for a loving home where he will be the center of attention and have a place in your heart. He is a wonderful, sweet dog who deserves so much love. The best possible home for Possum will be a quiet home where he and his humans can keep each other company in his golden years. Medical / Special Needs: Possum is an old man with some arthritis in his joints. He’s got some aches and pains in his body from years of neglect, so he prefers not to be picked up.

He can be a little shy at first, but he is gaining confidence and making great progress. He loves playing with Snowy, rides well in the car, and is getting much better on leash. **Courtesy posting: this dog is not in our care, we are just trying to help them find a homeLuna is a 3 year old collie-shepherd mix. She was found pregnant as a stray. Luna was a great mom to her puppies who have all been adopted. Now it is her turn! Luna can be shy with new people and animals, but she warms up with patience and gentleness. Luna gets along with cats and dogs. She should not be around smaller animals. Luna does well with children 10 and over. She is not recommended to be with small children because she can have herding tendencies with them.

Story
** Courtesy Posting: this dog is not in our care, we are just helping him find a home ** Yeti is a 3 year old purebred Blue Heeler. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and in good health. This poor boy’s story is very sad. An older woman bought him as a young puppy for her ailing husband who loved heelers. Her husband sadly passed away, and now she is being moved to hospice and Yeti needs a good home ASAP. Because of his circumstances, poor Yeti spends most of his time alone in a dog run or a crate. So he is still learning how to play and be a dog. Despite this, Yeti is friendly and affectionate. He just needs a patient, loving home to blossom into the confident dog we know he can be. He has not met cats yet. He was around other dogs as a puppy, but he has not been around them in years, so new dogs should be introduced slowly. Please contact us if you can help Yeti.
