Story
Mina is a cute girl who is always down for some fun! Mina is estimated to be about 7 months old, and she is a smart and happy girl. She missed out on some socialization as a young puppy, so she is still learning about the world, but has blossomed in foster care and can't wait to meet her fur-ever family. Mina currently weighs about 25lbs, and we estimate that she will be around 40lbs when fully grown. Mina came to us from our partners, BONES Pet Rescue in Covelo. Mina and her sister (who has already been adopted) were found on a remote road, likely dumped by their previous owners. A friend of BONES found the puppies and brought them to the rescue. After some TLC, they were transferred to one of our foster homes, and Mina has been growing like a weed ever since. Mina is a curious and playful girl who likes to make new friends and romp around in the yard. She enjoys gentle pets and will even give you sweet kissies if you're lucky. She is still learning all the ropes of being a dog and needs a family who can be patient with her while she learns and gains confidence. One thing that really helps her feel comfortable is having dog friends. We are hoping she can be adopted by someone who has a confident dog for her to bond with and can help mentor her. Mina is going to be a great companion for someone who is committed to continuing her training and socialization. She is an active and smart girl who learns quickly, especially if yummy treats are involved. Mina has done great with dogs of all sizes, but can be a tad too playful for older dogs, so would do best with a dog who can keep up with her energetic personality. Mina has done well with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Mina has done well with being around livestock and even an extra-large tortoise. She would be a great addition to a farm! Due to her shy personality, Mina would do best in a home with kids older than 10 years old. Mina has been doing well with her housetraining and is comfortable in her crate overnight.  She has been doing well being left alone in the secure, fully fenced backyard, and is happy to keep herself amused out there during the work day. Mina is such a great little girl who has so much potential. If she sounds like the sidekick you have been looking for, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application.   Mina's adoption fee is $350.   A pply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. March 7, 2026, 9:47 pm

Story
Meet Zumi Zumi is a handsome shepherd / medium mix boy with the sweetest heart and the happiest spirit. This fun-loving guy is pure happiness — he truly loves everyone he meets! Kids, cats, dogs, and all people alike are instant friends in Zumi’s world. If you’re looking for a social butterfly with a wagging tail, he’s your guy. Zumi walks beautifully on a leash and already knows several commands, including sit, give paw, and lay down. He’s incredibly eager to learn and so motivated to please — training with him is not only easy, it’s fun! He’s the kind of smart, attentive pup who looks at you like you’re his whole world. Playtime is one of Zumi’s favorite times of day. He absolutely adores his squeaky toys, loves to run and play, and if there’s water involved, even better! Splashing around brings out his goofy side. (Leaf blowers, however, are not his favorite thing — we all have our quirks!) Zumi is also a champion cuddler. He gives the best hugs and happily leans in for one right back. After a day of play and fun, he settles in nicely and sleeps through the night like a dream. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, loyal companion who will fill your home with joy, laughter, and lots of hugs, Zumi is ready to meet you. He can’t wait to find his forever family. Please call 707-459-4900 to meet Zumi !

Story
Meet Cookie 🍪🐾 Cookie is a super sweet, people-loving girl who forms strong bonds with her humans and truly thrives on affection. She’s affection motivated, enjoys guidance, and is good with corrections, making her a rewarding companion for someone who enjoys building trust and connection. Cookie is also housetrained, which helps make her transition into a home nice and smooth. At times, Cookie can feel a little insecure and may resource guard her person from other dogs, so she will do best with an adopter who understands this behavior and can provide clear boundaries and reassurance. She prefers slow, thoughtful dog introductions and will benefit from continued training and confidence-building. Cookie has medium energy and has good leash manners. However she does show some prey drive and may pull when she’s spots a squirrel. She is not good with cats, so a cat-free home is needed. With patience, consistency, and lots of love, Cookie will be an incredibly loyal companion who just wants to be someone’s special girl. 💛🐶

Story
Say hello to Starla, a 7-month-old female Australian Cattle Dog who came to the shelter as a stray and is now looking for a home where she can truly shine. This young pup is full of personality, energy, and curiosity, the verything you’d expect from a smart working breed puppy! Starla is friendly and tolerant of handling, allowing staff to pet her all over from head to tail. She’s an affectionate girl who enjoys attention, but she’s also got that classic cattle dog enthusiasm. Starla has a playful, energetic spirit and isn’t shy about expressing herself; she can be a bit vocal, sometimes with a high-pitched “chatty” bark when she’s excited.Like many young dogs, Starla hasn’t had much formal training yet. She’ll need a home that’s ready to guide her with basic obedience training and continued socialization so she can grow into a confident, well-mannered companion. She does have some typical puppy habits—she likes to jump up and can be a bit mouthy during play, so a home without very small children may be the best fit. When meeting another dog, Starla showed interest in playing. Because every dog is different, a dog-to-dog meet is recommended to make sure everyone gets along. As a young Australian Cattle Dog, Starla will thrive in an active, experienced home that understands the needs of this intelligent and energetic breed. If you’re an active household familiar with the cattle dog breed and looking for a fun, spirited young companion to train, explore, and grow with, Starla may be your perfect match.
