Story
Hannah has been found in Sacramento and we believe she was abandoned. We have been caring for her since we found her a few weeks ago. She is the KINDEST gentlest angel of a dog I’ve ever been around. An incredibly big heart- all she wants it to be loved and cuddled. She unfortunately due to her being abandoned has SIGNIFICANT separation anxiety and is terrified of being left alone. So she needs someone willing to put the time, tenderness and care into helping her heal and feel safe. She loves people and other dogs so much and thrives at the dog park running around with them. We want to keep her so badly ( we love her deeply) but just can’t due to our lives at the moment ( special needs daughter/ no yard/ etc). Hannah will be the most loving and kind dog you’ll ever have but she needs lots of love and care back to help her heal!

Story
**Courtesy posting: this dog is not in our care, we are just trying to help them find a homeLuna is a 3 year old collie-shepherd mix. She was found pregnant as a stray. Luna was a great mom to her puppies who have all been adopted. Now it is her turn! Luna can be shy with new people and animals, but she warms up with patience and gentleness. Luna gets along with cats and dogs. She should not be around smaller animals. Luna does well with children 10 and over. She is not recommended to be with small children because she can have herding tendencies with them.

Story
Dante is a STUNNING Border Collie/Shepherd mix. Need we say more? Yes, because being handsome isn't everything…so read on…(and check out his pictures below).Poor guy showed up as a 35-lb. stray, all skin and bones. He has since gained 30 lbs., developed confidence, and has shown a loyal heart. His name means `enduring and steadfast` in Italian, and it could not be more fitting. His prior life behind him, he is now eager and ready to work and learn at every training session and will sprint back to you the moment you call his name – RECALL IS HIS SUPERPOWER.Over several day trips with volunteers, he has gone from being under-socialized and nervous to an affectionate, engaging pup who clearly enjoys spending time with his people. He understands things quickly and gets more relaxed with each day trip. He loads into the car easily, rides well, and kicks things off with enthusiasm and plenty of kisses. He walks well on a leash, has gone swimming in questionable trail water, conquered sliding store doors and scary stores, and figured out that checking back in with his person is always the right move. He has shown himself to be dog-friendly and very playful. This beautiful boy will thrive with someone who will keep up his training, give him structure, consistency, and continued guidance, and maybe share an In-N-Out burger with him on road trips. In return, Dante will be a loyal, enduring, steadfast companion who will give you absolutely everything he's got. Schedule an appointment to meet Dante at yoloshelter.org/dogs or email adopt@yoloshelter.org . July 11, 2026, 11:31 pm

Story
Roy needs a new home to no fault of his own. Roy is a very lovable 11 year old dog who just wants to be everyone’s best friend. He is a little nervous when meeting new dogs but once he is properly introduced to a calm and non reactive dog he can live with another dog. He gets along best with dogs that are smaller than him and calm. Roy loves being around children because he loves to run and play with them but he does not do well cats because he tries to chase them. He is happy to be lazy with you during the day and go on long walks in the morning and evening. Even with his age he is very strong and likes to jog and play fetch. Roy is crate trained but has been sleeping out of the crate for many years without any accident or chewing/destruction. He is extremely food motivated and knows a few commands. He loves treat puzzles and chew treats. When you’re at work or school he will lay on the sofa and wait to greet you when you get home

Story
To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2026/4/18/cookie Cookie’s origin story is a bit of a mystery, but her future is bright!! After being found as a stray in Yolo County, she quickly befriended all the staff and other dogs at the shelter. Cookie is gentle, energetic, confident, playful, and sweet as can be. She’ll win you over quickly with her kisses and wiggly personality. At two years old and just 18 pounds, she is tiny but mighty! She has a lot of energy and loves to play with you and other dogs, but will also cuddle up next to you for a nap while watching a show in the evenings or look out the window from your couch (or your lap) while you work. She’s a cattle dog mix, so she is very smart and loves a job! She will be happy to keep tabs on you and will be perfect for someone with an active lifestyle or the willingness to make sure she gets a lot of play and physical/mental stimulation. A little more about Cookie: • Dog friendly and loves to play (would do well with other dogs or as a solo dog) • Not reactive on leash • Good with people • Can be left alone in the house without separation anxiety or destruction • Active, fun, affectionate personality Cookie is still learning the ropes of walking on leash, mealtimes, and going potty, but she is a quick learner and will thrive in a home that has the patience to train and love her. She is eager to please her people, and will settle into your routine quickly with consistency, love, and inclusion. She is one smart Cookie, and we can’t wait for her to find her forever home! She is currently fostered in Davis, CA. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more! Story
** Courtesy Posting: this dog is not in our care, we are just helping him find a home ** Yeti is a 3 year old purebred Blue Heeler. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and in good health. This poor boy’s story is very sad. An older woman bought him as a young puppy for her ailing husband who loved heelers. Her husband sadly passed away, and now she is being moved to hospice and Yeti needs a good home ASAP. Because of his circumstances, poor Yeti spends most of his time alone in a dog run or a crate. So he is still learning how to play and be a dog. Despite this, Yeti is friendly and affectionate. He just needs a patient, loving home to blossom into the confident dog we know he can be. He has not met cats yet. He was around other dogs as a puppy, but he has not been around them in years, so new dogs should be introduced slowly. Please contact us if you can help Yeti.

Story
To apply or learn more about Isco, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/11/2/isco Indigo is a 4 yr neutered cattle dog whippet mix (best guess) in need of a special home! Adopted as a puppy through HFP back in 2020, Indigo is looking for a quiet, calm adult home as your one and only! ✅ no separation anxiety ✅ housetrained, crate trained ✅ wonderful base of basic training ✅ smart & trainable ✅ cutest submissive grin/wiggle butt when you come home ✅ moderate activity (relaxed inside but loves to fetch and play!) ✅ doing much better at car travel He was adopted as a 4 month old puppy through HFP but sadly returned 3 years later -- he is currently in a Sacramento Foster home but is really in need of a home of his very own as his foster cannot keep him forever. More about Isco: he has a great base of training and ready to impress you with all his cues, including: Sit, Wait/Stay, Bed, Crate, Down and Off. He walks well on leash and doesn’t pull a ton. He LOVES to sniff everything during his walkies aka Sniffaris ( but doesn’t stop to mark, only sniff). He would do best in a quieter neighborhood as very busy places can make him nervous. Moderate energy -- he loves playing fetch in the backyard and a long daily walk would be ideal for Isco. In the home he is relaxed and independent. He has lived with 2 small dogs in the past and may be able to make dog acquaintances with slow intros but does not have a ton of experience with other dogs at this time. He would do best as prince of the palace as a solo dog in the home. Indigo previously lived with a cat who he loved to play with but can chase other cats, he may do well in a home with a well-matched cat friends; we ALWAYS recommend slow intros into the home/early separation for cats/dogs as they get to know one another. Indigo has the CUTEST prance and loves to play fetch. He is treat motivated which makes continued training and intros to people much more of a breeze. Housetrained, Crate Trained, around 55 lbs. Neutered, Vaccinated, Vetted, ready to be yours! Indigo adoption donation is sponsored. You might be wondering what “sponsored” means. A dog is sponsored when their foster or a donor loves them so much that they cover the adoption donation for a future adopter. This in hopes that the pup finds his or her forever family ASAP!
