Story
A synonym for grace is kindness... and our Gracie is the very definition of both. On April 20th, we reached out for help for three severely neglected Collies—Gracie, Solomon, and Sam—as well as a bottle feeder for two precious newborn puppies. Despite dedicated veterinary care and the unwavering commitment of their foster, the puppies sadly did not survive. Their sweet mama, Gracie, did. Now this kind-hearted girl is ready to find the forever home she has always deserved. At 7 years old, Gracie's life hasn't been an easy one. She spent years living outdoors in filthy conditions, knowing very little human kindness. Today, she's discovering the simple joys every dog should have—a warm bed, a full belly, gentle hands, and people who love her. And she absolutely blossoms with human connection. When asked to describe Gracie in one word, her foster didn't hesitate: "Kind." Gracie gets along well with other dogs, though she still carries a bit of her mama personality and may gently correct bad behavior when she sees it. She is crate trained, leash trained, and eager to please. Because she has had limited exposure to the world outside her previous environment, she is still learning about new sounds, places, and experiences. Her ideal home is one that will continue showing her patience, love, and guidance as she discovers how wonderful life can be. Gracie isn't the kind of dog who demands endless games of fetch. Instead, she's looking for something much more meaningful—a companion to share life's quiet moments with. Whether as a friend to another dog or as someone's cherished princess, Gracie is ready to give her whole heart to the people who give her a chance. After everything she's endured, we think it's finally Gracie's turn to be loved. Could you be the happy ending she's been waiting for? Story
Meet Kaillie! DOB: April 2020Weight: 56 lbsDisposition: Playful, Friendly, HappyHistory: Found stray with her bestie, Kaysha, and impounded at an LA shelter (where her records show she'd been at previously). Rescued by TBL when she was at risk of euthanasia bue to not having been adopted quickly enough.Looking for a dog who can slide right into your family and become your new best friend? Meet Kaillie — a beautiful 6-year-old Collie mix with the perfect blend of intelligence, affection, and adventure spirit.Kaillie already knows all of her basic commands and absolutely loves showing them off. She’s friendly with people, great with other dogs, and has moved beyond the chaotic puppy phase while still having plenty of energy for hikes, jogs, beach days, or any adventure you want to share together.Like many herding breeds, Kaillie is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and deeply loyal. She has some classic Collie herding instincts, but what shines most is her happy personality and that bright, joyful smile that lights up every room she walks into. ❤️ Kaillie and her friend Kaysha were owner-surrendered and found themselves at immediate risk in an overcrowded LA shelter. Thankfully, we were able to rescue them in time. Kaysha has already found her forever family — and now it’s Kaillie’s turn. She would thrive in an active, loving home ready for a loyal companion and adventure buddy. If you're interested in meeting Kaillie, please visit our website to fill out an adoption application: www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptOur dogs are located in San Diego County, CA. We will happily consider out of town applications and can conduct virtual play dates with interested adopters.
