Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This boy was dumped with siblings and is a sweetheart! He is very friendly and gets along with other dogs. He has some housetraining and also knows how to use a dog door. He has done okay on a leash and in a crate. He will need daily exercise but is not overly energetic. He is ready to get a forever home.

This baby has a magnetic personality and a lifetime of love to give. He is gentle and affectionate, and smart as a whip! He'll be solving algebra problems soon if you let him! He's: * Super sweet and kind * affectionate and cuddly * very friendly * willing to play at the drop of a hat Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. This handsome boy is fully housebroken, comfortable in a crate, and settles well when left alone. He has learned not to destroy his toys, is improving with waiting at doors, and comes when called. Murray is highly intelligent and loves to learn—he even figured out how to let himself back inside by using a lever-style doorknob! Murray thrives on attention and affection. He loves to be part of whatever his family is doing. One of his favorite things is greeting his foster mom with morning snuggles. He responds well to treats, chews, toys, and calm, consistent routines. He navigates stairs with ease and has done well with grooming after overcoming his initial fear of the high-velocity dryer. Murray gets along well with other dogs and cats. He enjoys canine companionship but is still learning appropriate play manners and can be a bit exuberant at times. A family willing to provide supervision, structure, and continued guidance will help him continue making great progress. Because Murray can be sensitive to certain sights and sounds outside of the fence, he would do best in a quieter environment with minimal outside distractions. The corner traffic made her a little nervous but it didn’t last long before zoomies took over!-Inside she was still a little nervous and cautiously explored everything. It took her awhile to settle in and relax but when she did she enjoyed laying next to me for pets and belly rubs.-She is affectionate and gives kisses-She likes treats, sits and takes them nicely-She is not currently playing with toys-Energetic youngster-She still needs work on leash still. She pulls sometimes and can also be bouncy and jumpy when her puppy energy gets the best of her-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Story
Max was a stray who had been wondering around a neighborhood since March 2026. Finally he decided he had enough and wandered right up to a lady's house and walked right in the door. He is friendly and has been staying with her friend who is fostering him. Max is a sweet, loving 1½-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) mix with a heart full of love and energy to share. He forms strong bonds with his favorite person and loves being by their side, whether he’s following them around the house or curling up next to them to relax. Max loves playing fetch, retrieving toys, going on walks, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. Like many cattle dogs, he’s happiest when he has both physical exercise and mental stimulation. He walks fairly well on a leash, though he can pick up the pace when he’s excited. Max is well-mannered both indoors and outside. He’s still learning to be comfortable in a crate and will need some patience as he continues crate training. Car rides are also something he’s still getting used to. Max appears to get along well with other dogs, although he would benefit from slow introductions as his experience with them is still somewhat limited and unknown. He seems interested in cats and other small animals, but his herding instincts provokes him want to chase them. Because of this, Max would do best in a home without cats or small pets. Max is friendly with people and enjoys meeting new friends. He may take a little extra time to warm up to unfamiliar men, but once he feels comfortable, his affectionate personality shines through. It is currently unknown how he does around young children. Max’s ideal home is with an active family or individual who can give him plenty of love, attention, daily exercise, and opportunities to play. A home with a large yard or acreage where he can safely explore would be a dream come true for him. With continued training, patience, and plenty of enrichment, Max is sure to become a loyal, devoted companion for years to come. If you’re looking for an affectionate, active best friend who’s always ready for an adventure and happiest by your side, Max may be the perfect match for you! Max weighs 48 pounds and his estimated birthdate is 7/23/25.

Royce is a wonderful dog who we are sad to have to rehome. He has been with us since he was a puppy. He is full of energy and loves getting active but is starting to slow down these days. We unfortunately have to rehome him as a result of our growing family in a small home and my husbands work schedule requires a lot of travel.Royce does well in a laid back active home. We’d prefer he goes to a family without young children. Would do best with a backyard to play fetch!
