Story
Between May 1st and 15th, part of my adoption fee is sponsored! Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters campaign, my new family can take me home for $25! Meet Capri! Capri is a playful energetic and social 1 year old Collie/Terrier/Pit Bull mix! Capri loves to play outside with her four fur-foster siblings. She LOVES playtime, so furry companions who can keep up with her playful puppy nature are preferred! Other than that, Capri has been the perfect house guest! She's crate trained, house trained, and sleeps through the night, but is an excellent watchdog. She will bark to alert you if a person or another pup is approaching. Exercise is a must for this little lady! She is completely leash trained and loves going on walks with her foster family. As far as new friends go, Capri warms up quickly and absolutely loves to be pet endlessly. Capri would make an excellent companion for just about any family or household! She can't wait to meet you! Capri is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY. Her adoption fee is $425. All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Gresham! Gresham is a 5 year old, female Collie/Hound. This animal is coming up on a transport to the NYC Area THIS Saturday, May 11th and is looking for a foster home to go into. There are multiple shelters down south that are overcrowded and Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue partners with these shelters to move the animals into foster homes in the North East before they are adopted into their forever family homes. What does it mean to be a foster? The first, and most important, responsibility is to provide a caring and safe home environment. There are some very specific guidelines that we will share with you that will keep everyone safe and healthy. From basic food and water, quarantine periods, and where you can or cannot take your foster, our Foster Handbook and Foster Mentors are fantastic resources. Depending on what type of animal you're fostering, you'll need some things in advance. These items may include a crate, puppy pads, or food and water bowls but we have a large foster network that helps share supplies! Louie's Legacy will pay for full vetting, spay or neuter surgery, and all approved medical or behavioral treatments. By fostering a dog or cat...YOU are MAKING a DIFFERENCE! Every pet deserves saving! Let's not leave any behind! Apply to foster today! https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/LOUE/Dog *Please note that the pet you are interested in may not be available by the time we receive your application. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible and to be open to helping other animals in need.

Story
Allegra!  What a beautiful sounding name!  And what does it mean? And why did her foster give her the name Allegra?  Because it describes this beautiful pup so well!  Joyful, Happy, Active!!!  Our Allegra is a Collie/Lab mix who wears her short black and white coat so well that people stop just to look at her!  Allegra is around 4 months old and, although she presently weighs between 20 and 25 pounds now, she’ll mature to between 50 and 60 pounds.  She gets along well with other dogs, kids, and her foster’s cat! Allegra!  What a wonderful girl!  (posted 1/23/24, TN)  **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $395 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  May 8, 2024, 5:04 pm
