Name: Lavender Best Guess for Breed: Corgi/Sheltie Mix Best Guess for Age: 3 years as of July 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 17 lbs as of July 2026 Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Watch Lavender explore the DMV on her Foster’s Instagram: @adoptme_arlington Special Adoption Considerations: Lavender was rescued from a hoarding situation in South Carolina. She has not been well socialized with new people and has lived her whole life with other dogs. New nosies, cars, bikes, and other things may create fear and anxiety. She will need a patient adopter who can give her time to come out of her shell and learn that the world is a wonderful and welcoming place. Lavender is Looking For: A forever family! All she asks for is some toys, treats, and maybe even a soft bed. Given her young age, she will need mental and physical stimulation and time to play with doggie friends. What My Foster Says About Me: Lavender is a super sweet 3-year-old Corgi/Sheltie mix who is slowly but surely coming out of her shell! Weighing in at a perfect 17 pounds, this gentle girl is leaving her past behind and discovering just how wonderful a loving home can be. She has been the absolute perfect co-working partner, happily snoozing on her bed all day. She also loves quietly following my two senior resident rescue dogs around the house without making a peep, taking great cues from them on how to be a brave and confident pup. Thus far, Lavender has been an incredibly easy addition to the home. She sleeps all through the night curled up in her crate and has been doing a fantastic job going to the bathroom outside on our daily walks. Best of all, it only took her one day to feel comfortable enough to start snuggling up on the couch with us! While she’s been wonderful with kids and adults at adoption events, she may need a little extra time and patience getting used to the bustle, traffic, and city noises around the D.C. and Arlington area. Every single day she is getting braver, and she would love nothing more than to snuggle with you all day long! She would make the perfect addition to any home willing to give her a little patience as she adjusts to life in the DMV! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
