Meet Axle Axle is a 5-year-old dog with a big personality and a very specific way of doing things. He’s confident, a little particular, and definitely keeps life interesting. He enjoys affection and being close to his people—but on his terms. Sometimes that means early morning cuddles, and sometimes it means he’s off doing his own thing just as quickly. He’s expressive, communicative, and not shy about letting you know what he wants (or doesn’t want). Axle has some funny quirks—he may ask to go outside and then change his mind, or carefully inspect a treat before deciding if it meets his standards. He enjoys cozy spots like blankets, sunny windows, and anywhere he can relax and observe what’s going on around him. He can be a bit protective of his space and may give a low bark if he feels crowded, so he’ll do best with someone who understands and respects his boundaries. Axle is a loyal, affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with his people. He would thrive in an adult-only home where he can settle in at his own pace. Winnie is a 7 year old dachshund born on August 14. She is a little shy until she gets to know you, but warms up quickly. She gets along well with other dogs. She does not like young children. She wants to be the spoiled baby! Winnie loves to sit on your lap and go for car rides. Her favorite treat is peanut butter. She is a boisterous girl who thrives on love and attention. She will need a human who has lots of time for her. We prefer a home who is familiar with the breed Thank you for choosing rescue! We are volunteers with other commitments in addition to rescue. Our time is very limited. Therefore, we request a $20.00 donation through paypal in order to process and expedite your application. This shows that you are truly interested in adoption. Your application will remain on file for a year. Applications are available at www.eastcoasthumanesociety.com under forms/application. Donation should be made through Paypal at www.eastcoasthumanesociety.com. We are only available by phone after you have an approved application. All pets are located in the southeast. I adopted her over 5 years ago, and while she’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, house trained, and generally low maintenance, she carries trauma from her early life that has led to fear-based reactivity toward some people and dogs when startled or anxious. Most of the time, Duffy is cuddly, playful, and wonderfully well-behaved. She thrives with routine, patience, and someone who understands anxious dogs and can confidently manage her triggers. As our family prepares for a baby, we know she would do best in a different environment where her needs can come first. This is an incredibly difficult decision made purely out of love for her. We are hoping to find Duffy a compassionate, experienced home where she can continue to feel safe, loved, and understood, rather than face the stress and uncertainty of a shelter.
