Story
Caboose is an energetic 10 lb little boy! He is very sweet and loves his people. other dogs but is afraid of cats. He does his best to avoid them! He loves to cuddle and sleep in the bed. He is a good boy all night long! He loves to play and would love another playful dog in the household. That said...he hates the crate and will cry very shrilly if confined so he probably will not be successful in a condo or apartment. He also is not housebroken and we haven't been too successful in correcting that. He is due to be neutered soon so that could help but it might be a bad habit by now. He marks quite frequently. He is also an escape artist and will fly out the door without you realizing it. He is very quick. I can't stress that enough! So no small children unless you have the right setup to keep him safe. His safety is our main concern. He really is a love if you have the proper home for him!!! And he is adorable!!! Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
General is a little guy with a big personality! This cutie is a Dachshund/Beagle Mix, is estimated to be 5yr old, and weighs just 15lbs. General is a snuggly little guy who is dog and kid friendly. He loves to go on car rides, enjoys walks around the neighborhood, and has a blast playing with his toys! General would love a home where he can relax with his people and receive all the snuggles and affection day in and day out! General would make a great addition to a household looking for a small dog with a big dog personality! He would fit in well in any house, and does not require a fenced yard. He is house trained and crate trained. General is currently Heartworm positive, and is currently available for a foster to adopt situation until his HW treatment is complete and he is medically cleared for adoption. If you are not familiar with Heartworm disease, dogs get it from mosquitoes and it is not contagious. It is easily prevented and highly treatable, but requires extended rest during treatment. BarkVille will cover all of General&#39s medical expenses while he&#39s being fostered and receiving HW treatment. If you&#39re interested in fostering to adopt this sweet boy, please email us at info@barkvilledogrescue.org or submit an application at https://www.barkvilledogrescue.org/applications. BarkVille is located in Roswell, GA and our dogs are available for foster/adoption in the Greater Atlanta area. Applicants in surrounding states could potentially adopt a BarkVille dog if their application is approved, they live within 2-3 hours of the Greater Atlanta area, and they are able to pick up their dog from the foster home.October 2, 2024, 3:52 pm

Story
Meet Tootsie!  It’s THE GOLDEN BACHELORETTE, RMG version! Tootsie is a senior gal looking for love! This 11-12 yr old purebred dachshund might be a little grey around the muzzle but she still has some pep in her step! Tootsie great with other dogs and cats but she would easily trade those in for a soft blanket to burrow in and a lap to nap in! She’s really just a simple girl at heart looking for a tried and true dachshund person to spend her Golden Years with.  Interested in adopting Tootsie? Email adrienne@rescuemega.org or fill out an adoption application on our website- www.rmgdogs.org    ##2155994##

Story
Meet Sparky!  Sparky was part of the group of seniors that came to us several weeks ago after their human mom passed away and their human dad was forced to leave the family home - leaving no where for these poor babies to go. Since they technically would have been considered owner surrenders in a county with an extremely small shelter, they would have been euthanized immediately if a rescue didn’t step up to help them.  Sparky is about 12 years old with lots of life left to live! He’s obviously great with other dogs since he lived as part of a pack for most of his life, but he’s also adjusted quite nicely to being the King of the Castle in his foster home! He would love to join a quiet, dachshund loving home so that he can thoroughly enjoy his retirement!!  Does that sound like you? Email adrienne@rescuemega.org or fill out an adoption application on our website- www.rmgdogs.org ##2161174##

Story
I adopted Vanna from a dachshund breeder who was giving her away due to her reaching her maximum litters she could have. Vanna was 4 when I got her and she is now almost 6 years old. She is a VERY shy dog and has a lot of anxiety. She will fit best in a very small family that has a quiet atmosphere. When I received her from the breeding facility they didnt acknowledge that she had allergies or teeth issues. I have had to keep up with monthly allergy shots and she will need yearly professional teeth cleaning done. Vanna has had a prolonged cough since we’ve had her which we believe to be from her allergies or a partially collapsed trachea. Vanna is a very high maintenance dog who needs someone who can support her health. I am having to rehome her due to me being unable to financially support her at this time.
