Story
Meet Marty! Marty is looking for a rescue or adopter to help him leave the shelter. Marty weighs about 35 lbs, appears to be a Dachshund mix of some kind. Marty knows tons of tricks and is an extremely intelligent, eager to please boy. He is 5 years old. Marty did well on his temperament test, and cat/dog and dog/dog tests but was a nervous nelly. He needs a home without children as they make him very nervous and he likes his personal space. Marty is housetrained. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations and heartworm negative. If you are interested in rescuing or adopting Marty, please call or email the shelter at 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov he is looking for a very special human to help him leave the shelter. Story
Earle the Pearl: A Tale of Resilience and Joy Earle the Pearl is a delightful 20-pound bundle of energy, with a heart as big as his personality. At just two years old, Earle's journey began in November 2025 when he was found abandoned, tied to a fence outside a vet's office. Despite this rough start, Earle hasn't let it dampen his spirit. Personality and Activities Earle is the epitome of a “happy-go-lucky” pup. He loves to dive headfirst into activities, whether it's wrestling with his shepherd foster brother or snuggling on the sofa with his pittie foster sisters. Earle thrives on companionship and prefers to be in the midst of the action. Crate Training and Mischief While Earle isn't fond of being crated, it’s a necessary measure for his safety when his foster family is out. He can manage about four hours before he starts plotting his escape, accompanied by a serenade of canine tunes. When not crated, Earle is a curious explorer—checking out table tops, counters, and even attempting online shopping! Play and Exercise Earle is happiest with a playmate, whether it’s a fellow dog or an active family member. He enjoys exploring the fenced backyard and romping in the snow, especially when decked out in a cozy sweater. With his love for running and exceptional vertical leap, Earle needs space to expend his energy. Sleeping and House Training Earle sleeps comfortably in a crate in the bedroom at night, though he dreams of snuggling under the covers with humans and other dogs. He’s made significant progress with house training, but supervision is key due to his small bladder. His initial challenges were compounded by hookworms, but he's on the mend. Ideal Home Earle would flourish in a home with a yard and an active family. Older children and/or a canine sibling would be ideal companions for this lively pup. While his breed mix remains a mystery, his Dachshund-like physique and unique stature make him a distinctive member of any family. If you're ready to welcome a dog who’s “all in” with love and enthusiasm, Earle the Pearl might be your perfect match. Complete an application today to meet this extraordinary dog! www.k9ei.dog

Story
Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders. This girl was brought in with babies when her owner couldn't take care of her. She was not socialized very well so will need some work. She will need a very patient person to get her to come out of her shell. She was kept outside so she has no house manners, nor has she been with cats. She does do well with dogs her size and seems to like to play with them. She deserves a new chance to be a loved dog and companion. She will take a lot of time and investment but deserves a chance!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Bill is a 2-3 year old male Dachshund mix who weighs in at 17 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $450.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Bill's a jolly and affectionate dog. Bill will do best in a female only home with children over age 10 if present. He's 12" tall at the withers.  He appears to be a Chihuahua Dachshund mix. Bill arrived from a shelter in Tennessee. He loves the outside and belly rubs. He will do best with a fenced yard. He has a curious nature and doesn't hesitate to squeeze through narrow gaps or try to climb over -- yard fencing and baby gates should be secure. Bill would do great with other dog(s) and/or cat(s) in the house. He likes playing with other dogs. His style of play can be a bit much for some dogs – he will benefit from work on boundaries/manners and ensuring a good match in his forever home. Bill enjoys horsing around and getting the zoomies but will also nap with you on the couch. He's housebroken, will alert when he needs to go out, and sleeps well in his crate. Bill is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.
