Story
About Me: Name: David Breed (or best guess): Dachshund type mix Approximate Age: 2 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight:  20 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: very patient adopter, fenced yard, no young children Why In Rescue:  Texas transfer Profile:  David came to us from Texas with a couple of friends.  His friends have been adopted, and we are working on trying to get David more comfortable with people to make him easier to adopt.  He is very careful with who he loves and trusts, and he bonds hard with those he loves.  But if you aren't in his circle of friends, he is very suspicious of you.  It is going to take time for him to bond with someone new, but our goal is to find him a home, not to have him live in the shelter forever.  If you are willing to love and care for a dog who probably isn't going to love you at first sight, then David may just be the guy for you.  He seems to like female dogs, male dogs not so much.  A fenced yard is for his safety as walking on a leash with a new person will be too much for him right away, although he will go for walks with the people he trusts.  Are you the one that is going to give David a chance?  Please fill out the preadoption application and we can set up a time for you to meet him. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS December 10, 2023, 5:25 pm

Story
Meet Piston! The name is Piston, and after my family put me outside because they got a new puppy, my human neighbor asked if she could take me and find a rescue for me. Since I'm a senior, I became an Albert's Dog Lounge dog! My foster mom says that since I'm just a little guy, weighing about 20 pounds, and I'm super cute, I'll find my forever home quickly. It helps that I'm a really good boy and go potty outside, and I get along with everyone I meet! Dogs, cats, humans, I love everyone. Don't let my short little legs fool you, I can do zoomies super fast, and I promise to keep you laughing when I do them! One thing I will say is that after being kept outside, I truly appreciate a soft bed in a warm house! I'll snuggle right in and sleep real good. I enjoy taking brisk walks and snuggling all the same. I could easily go on a jog with you and then come home and watch some Netflix with my favorite person. I really enjoy getting attention from my humans. Ear rubs are my favorite! I even purr like a cat because they feel so good! Now, I've made it my mission to find my forever humans who will always keep me safe and loved. I just need a little spot in your home and a little bit of love from you! Are you ready to add a handsome guy like myself to your family? Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair). Story
Meet Oni! Hey, y'all, my name is Oni! I'm a senior gal who has a little extra to love. You may think that I'm a chunk, but I assure you, I have been working very hard at getting my girlish figure back in check. I was found as a stray, overweight, and pretty unhealthy. I've lost about 6 pounds so far and am down to a svelt 18 pounds! My foster parents have really put in the work to get me healthy again. Measured meals, limited treats, and lots of walks have been had the last couple of months! Hard work really does pay off! I live with other dogs here, and I do well with all of them, though I'm not really interested in playing with any of them. There are also a couple of small humans who live here, and I like them well enough. The one cried a lot, and she's pretty new, and the other likes to run and play, but she's still respectful to me. I always try to get my pottying done while I'm outside so that my humans don't have to clean up any messes. I really enjoy going for walks, so now that I'm at a healthier weight, I'll need my new humans to keep me there and keep working with me on it because I still have a couple pounds to lose. Since I also really like dinner time and will even do a little "Oni run" to my food bowl, we have to be mindful. I never want to be unhealthy again! I recently had some mammary tumors removed and the rest of my teeth, and I'm feeling like a million bucks! My favorite pastime just happens to be napping in the soft dog beds that my foster home has and barking at those pesky, rude squirrels from the back porch! But that's about the only time you'll hear a peep out of me. My foster parents believe I'm mostly deaf. Whenever they tell me something, I don't even lift an ear. Say what, now? That's me, in a nutshell! Now I need to find my humans who will be dedicated to me and my health, who will also make sure I always have the best dog beds! Maybe that's you! Story
Dolly is truly a charming little dog; she is thought to be a Dachshund Mix, possibly Dachshund-Black Lab. She’s a great size weighing 18 lbs, and is low to the ground like a Dachshund. Dolly is fully grown, at 3 years old. Dolly has a great personality. She loves attention and affection and will constantly seek it out. On the other hand, she can occasionally be timid and shy. She is fine with other dogs but can be intimidated by larger dogs, or dogs she is not acquainted with. She is scared of small children or those who are loud or overactive. Dolly is not an apartment-dwelling dog. She’d really enjoy a secure, fenced yard of her own, to run, play, and relax whenever she wants to do so. Dolly is fully vetted, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm tested and on heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting Dolly and possibly adding her to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895 to obtain an adoption application. Note that BAARK is located in Barrington and adopts only local to the Chicago area.
