Story
Alice Modrich is a gentle soul whose name was inspired by the world of Bridgerton. This darling lady has proven herself not only to be incredibly sweet, but also a most devoted and attentive mama. Alice came to us from a hoarding situation alongside her precious babies, and her nurturing spirit has been nothing short of remarkable. She is always checking in on her little ones, ensuring they are safe and content—a true testament to her loving heart. Now that she’s beginning to settle into her new chapter, Alice is blossoming more each day. She’s growing playful, curious, and increasingly confident, all while maintaining her gentle and affectionate nature. She adores being close to her people—whether sitting beside you or softly leaning in for comfort and connection. One of her favorite pastimes? Keeping a watchful eye on the world from the window, quietly observing the neighborhood like the refined lady she is. Alice Modrich is ready to step out of her past and into a home where she can be cherished as the loving companion she truly is. If you’re seeking a sweet, loyal girl who will stay close by your side, Alice is ready to make her grand debut in your heart. Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Story
Meet Penelope Featherington—affectionately known as Penny by her foster family! She’s about 1½ years old and came to rescue alongside 29 of her housemates from a hoarding situation. Penny is just beginning to learn what it feels like to be loved and is currently working on potty and crate training. Penny can still be shy and may not be her best self around small children, but she absolutely adores other dogs and thrives on their companionship. Need a professional lap warmer? She’s your girl! She loves being near both people and dogs and is happiest snuggled up in a cozy lap or cuddling with her furry friends. Her foster family says she especially enjoys staying warm and cozy—she’s definitely not a fan of cold and windy days (can you blame her?). Penny would do best in a patient home where she can continue learning to go outside reliably, take walks, and feel confident in a crate. Older kids or adults are ideal for her, as she blossoms best with gentle guidance and calm energy. If you keep a lap open, Penny will happily fill it with love, snuggles, and devotion. She’s a very sweet, loving pup ready to find her perfect forever home.   Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Bill is a 2-3 year old male Dachshund mix who weighs in at 17 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $450.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Bill's a jolly and affectionate dog. Bill will do best in a female only home with children over age 10 if present. He's 12" tall at the withers.  He appears to be a Chihuahua Dachshund mix. Bill arrived from a shelter in Tennessee. He loves the outside and belly rubs. He will do best with a fenced yard. He has a curious nature and doesn't hesitate to squeeze through narrow gaps or try to climb over -- yard fencing and baby gates should be secure. Bill would do great with other dog(s) and/or cat(s) in the house. He likes playing with other dogs. His style of play can be a bit much for some dogs – he will benefit from work on boundaries/manners and ensuring a good match in his forever home. Bill enjoys horsing around and getting the zoomies but will also nap with you on the couch. He's housebroken, will alert when he needs to go out, and sleeps well in his crate. Bill is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! March 7, 2026, 1:30 pm
