Weenie may be a senior at 13, but she is such an outgoing and young at heart girl! She loves nothing more than to cuddle up on your lap under a blanket. She is a bit of a couch potato, but also loves basking in the sun. She has IVDD, which means she will need help going to the bathroom, but the extra work is so worth it! She walks very well. Weenie would do best in a quiet environment, preferably no kids. Weenie doesn't mind other small dogs. She is the sweetest girl and loves forehead kisses and ear rubs!

Story
**Please read the profile in its entirety. The adoption process and their basic needs are addressed in the profile. We are an all volunteer organization and are busy caring for our foster animals so we cannot respond to emails that ask questions already addressed ** Adoption Process: Step 1:    Complete a "no obligation" application located on our website at pawprintsnky.com under Adopt.  . Step 2:    PawPrints will review the application, verifying Vet and personal references as well as landlord requirements/restrictions (if applicable) Step 3:    IF your application is approved, we will call you to schedule a meet and greet for you to meet the pet. Step 4:   If the meet and greet goes well, we will schedule the home visit. We’ve tried the more subtle approach and it’s not working, so blunt and brutal it is.   Paco needs a unicorn adopter.  He has some fear based issues so he’s horrible with new people.  His adopter will need to let Paco adjust at his own pace and ignore him for days, maybe longer, when he arrives in your home.  If you ignore our advice, he won’t hesitate to remind you that you’re moving too quickly and need to slow down, so no worries about wondering if you’re going at his speed or not.    He loves to sit on your lap and wants to be close to you all the time.  If you need a lap warmer, he’s your man.  That doesn’t in any way mean he likes to be picked up (again, he’ll remind you of his disdain if you try).   We don’t even try to bathe him because we would like to keep all of our fingers.     Don’t adopt him with the idea that he’ll someday be warm and fuzzy with visitors, it’s a nice thought but he’s probably never going to be that dog.     The good...once he trusts you he loves you and he needs your life to revolve around him.  He forms a strong attachment to one person and wants to be the love of your life   He becomes so attached that he is recommended for a single person home   More good...he likes big dogs.  He tolerates small dogs (although he can be a bit bossy) but appreciates the friendship of a bigger dog (especially if they let him run underneath them when he’s frightened).  He’s okay with dog-savvy cats but he’ll be bossy and chase (no biting) cats who won’t stand their ground. A dog experienced person who has as much of a dislike for other humans as Paco does would be a perfect match for him.  Because he doesn’t like people, walks aren’t his thing.  He does love running in a fenced in yard though, and he’ll alert you to every falling leaf, neighbors 5 houses down who has the audacity to be carrying their groceries inside and when the wind changes direction   You’ll never miss any of the neighborhood happenings with Paco around    Paco is a 6 year old Chihuahua/Dachshund who has spent entirely too much time in his foster home.   He adores his foster mom but it’s time for him to plant some permanent roots    He’s neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on vaccines. You can find an adoption application at www.pawprintsnky.com. Once the application is submitted, please expect someone to email you with questions and/or provide more information about the dog is we are unsure that the dog may be a good fit.   Most importantly, please be honest!  We have many people tell us what they think we want to read, not what's truthful.  If there are discrepancies, your application will be denied.  It's important for us to place dogs in a home that's suitable.  You may be a stellar owner but possibly not a good fit for the dog you were first interested in adopting.  We're not trying to offend anyone, we're trying to set everyone up for success.    We're a best fit rescue and will verify your vet and personal references. *Chihuahua/Dachshund *10 years old *11 lbs *Good with cats and dogs (including large dogs) *Not recommended for a home with children or one where children visit   * Best in a single person home but may adjust to a home with two people    * No homes that share walls with neighbors  * Needs a fenced in yard as he does not do well on walks *Adopters must live within 2 hours of Florence, KY *Adoption fee is $300.00    June 6, 2026, 7:59 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hiya! My name is Scooby, and I’m basically a professional happy boy. I’m a Dachshund/Chi mix with a big personality packed into a little body. My previous owner had too many dogs for the city limit, so me and some of my buddies had to find new homes. The good news? I’m ready to make someone VERY lucky!  When I first arrived I was infested with fleas, and also had a injury to my face. Suspected from a dog bite, but I've got amazing people and vet staff taking care of me with antibiotics and xrays to make sure I'm all ready for my new family.  I love people so much that I sometimes bounce up out of excitement when I meet you. I just can’t help it! I’m all about kisses, tail wags, and making new friends. I also LOVE other dogs and have a blast playing with them and sharing my toys. Toys are kind of my thing, honestly. I’m not sure about this “potty training” business yet, but I’m a smart little guy and eager to please. I’m already neutered, 4DX negative, current on vaccines, and protected with ProHeart 12 and Bravecto — so I’m all set and ready to go! My adoption fee is $400. If you think we might be a good match, you can apply for me at www.adoggie4you.org I’m currently in Texas, but I can travel to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, KY, and along the East Coast. If I need a ride, there’s an additional $225 transport fee. (I’m not able to travel to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to state rules.)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 9, 2026, 10:46 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Rock, a sweet and gentle boy who’s so ready for a second chance at life. Rock came to us from a partnered shelter where he was sadly at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space—but thankfully, he got the chance he deserved. Born around June 13, 2025, Rock is a terrier/dachshund mix with an adorable long body and a soft, submissive personality. He’s a friendly, easygoing pup who gets along with everyone he meets, making him a great fit for many types of homes. Rock would truly love a family of his own where he can feel safe and loved. He LOEVS his toy time with friends in the play yard. Rock did test positive for anaplasmosis (a tick-borne infection) and is currently undergoing treatment with doxycycline. This is a common and treatable condition, and he’s expected to do well with proper care. For more information, you can read here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=6191808 He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped, so he’s all set to start his new journey. His adoption fee is $400. Check out his video below! To apply, please visit www.adoggie4you.org and complete an application. Rock is currently in Texas but can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, KY, and locations along the East Coast. If transport is needed, an additional fee of $225 will apply. Please note that we are unable to transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to state regulations.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 9, 2026, 10:46 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Zeus — a happy, loving little guy who’s ready to steal your heart all over again. This adorable dachshund/terrier mix is searching for a forever family after being recently returned through absolutely no fault of his own. His previous family loved him deeply, but with the kids heading off to college and long work hours leaving little time at home, they made the difficult decision to help Zeus find a family who could give him the attention he deserves. Zeus is friendly, playful, affectionate, and wonderfully social. He absolutely loves playing with other dogs and has even done great around cats - his previous owner said he liked to play with them. He’s already fully vetted and ready to go home today — neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, 4DX negative, protected with ProHeart 12, and on Bravecto for flea and tick prevention. Zeus has already known what it feels like to be loved, and now he’s hoping for a forever home where he can be part of the family for good. His adoption fee is $300. This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225   . We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.
