Meet Bear!This handsome fella is a three-year-old Dachshund mix, and he is currently looking for his forever home! Bear was owner released to the shelter because of landlord refusal. This sweet boy enjoys the company of cats, but he does not like other dogs, we also offer trial adoptions and meet and greets to ensure he finds his pawfect home! Bear is a loving boy that does great with kiddos. As far as we know Bear is not yet house or crate trained, but given a chance he could learn. Bear is HW NEGATIVE, UTD on vaccinations, weighs 19 pounds, and is ready to be adopted today!Bear's adoption fee is $79.50 plus tax!Dogs are $115 and puppies are $110 unless otherwise noted. All cats and kittens are $75.00 unless otherwise noted. Our system automatically updates adoptable websites every two hours. Feel free to email or call us with any questions you may have. Our contact number is 270-887-4175. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30-4 and is closed daily for lunch from 12:30-1. Adoptions are done on a first come first serve basis for owner releases. Strays have a wait list.

Little dog alert! Gus came in pretty grumpy (hence the name), but he has done a total 180 and decided The Humane Society of Oldham County is much better than the hoarding situation he came from. This teeny little 12-pound Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) is around 8 years old. His age certainly doesn’t stop him from getting the zoomies or getting around just fine, and he still has plenty of good years ahead of him. Gus is down for whatever. Want him to lay on the bed? Sure. Want him to run around outside while you work on something? Sure. How about a nice lap companion? Absolutely! Gus is a man of many talents and is ready to be your new buddy. We’re unsure how Gus feels about playing with larger dogs, but he doesn’t seem to mind walking past them or hearing them bark. He could likely live with other small dogs easily, but to be sure, we require a meet-and-greet to make sure any household pups can get along with Mr. Gus. Gus is ready to say hello! Submit an application with The Humane Society of Oldham County to meet our sweet little man.

BELLA is a cute lil dachshund ( long hair) with those short stubby legs but a chihuahua face...She's an adorable lil girl but has the " little dog attitude". If you are the one who feeds then you're her favorite person...Bella must be fed alone ( separate room) because she would sneak another pets food and complain lowdly that its hers....She is bonded to Kylo but we have let her spend her day with another male dog and she seems happy...as long as shes the only female...She has no known health issues...just attitude...Shes friendly, takes her time to assess newcomers....Independent but adventurous...She likes to go outside when its warm...and does not mind snow either....housetrained.
