Story
Baloo is a 2.5-year-old Dalmatian mix who is very smart, and VERY goofy. He is an intense sniffer, preferring to spend most of his time with his nose glued to the ground, and if you're not careful he'll wander off while following his nose. He also has a nervous disposition, particularly in new situations, so when Baloo encounters new places or new people/dogs, he prefers to sniff everything out until he is comfortable before breaking out his charming personality. , While Baloo can be very selective with his friends, particularly his dog friends, once he has gotten to know you and accept you, he's fiercely loyal and incredibly loving. Whenever he sees an unexpected friend (dog or human), his tail wags so hard that his body wiggles all over the place and he can barely walk straight. Baloo also gets the zoomies A LOT (did I mention he has a ton of energy?) so he loves to be outside. However, since Baloo gets really attached to his human/dog friends, he doesn't particularly enjoy being out in the yard on his own. He doesn't usually get separation anxiety (although he can in some situations), and he can be left alone for long periods of time, but he generally prefers to go explore with his group of dogs/humans nearby. While Baloo does exhibit some behaviors that would be cause for concern for certain owners, we believe an experienced owner or an owner that is committed to training/has trained in the past to deal with complex dogs would be able to take great care of him. Ultimately, we love Baloo very much and want the best for him, and we know that he can be the perfect dog for someone looking a dog with a lot of love to give who needs a lot of attention and love in return. Story
PONGO is a lovely 12 month old Dalmatian with lots of energy. He is a strong boy, so is best to walk on a no-pull harness. He may have a little bit of Greyhound in him, given his larger size, as he is 62 pounds. PONGO is very intelligent, protective, is a love bug, has a huge heart, listens to commands, and is cuddly, playful, loyal, and ready to bond. He is house trained and comfortable in a crate for short periods. He is protective and careful, and may bark at new people, but then he wants to be friends. Pongo is dog friendly (as you can see in the photo with his two Dalmatian friends), but needs a few slow introductions before friendship is established. Like some Dalmatians, he can be a little nippy/reactive (no biting at all) when suddenly startled or scared by something. PONGO is healthy, neutered, vaccinated, and current on flea/tick/worm medications. Story
Meet Romeo! A spirited two-and-a-half-year-old English Pointer mix currently living in Carlsbad, CA, whose essence is a radiant bundle of devotion wrapped in a striking white coat adorned with black patches and playful spots. Romeo is a goofy, loving soul who thrives on companionship and showers his people with endless loyalty. Whether he’s trotting from room to room to keep tabs on his favorite humans or chasing his tail in pure comedic glory, Romeo lives to make his family smile! At around 40 pounds, he’s a perfectly medium-sized shadow who dreams of curling up near his caregiver’s feet after a fun round of indoor toy play. This sweet boy is house-trained, non-destructive, and knows several important commands such as sit, stay, come, heel, and leave it. His brilliance shines brightest when engaged in training sessions, especially since he comes with lifelong training support offered by his dedicated trainer within San Diego County. Romeo reacts well to positive reinforcement and truly enjoys working with people he trusts. Romeo’s protective side makes him deeply committed to his family’s safety. He is reactive to other dogs and wary of strangers, but with treats, patience, and structured introductions, he warms up – especially to women, who tend to win his trust faster. He’s done well around children aged 8-9 years old, particularly when kids understand the importance of giving him space when he needs it. He dreams of a calm, structured home with no other dogs, where his guardian will continue guiding him through his training journey. Fast-moving bicycles and unexpected dog encounters on walks can rattle him, but his training has built a strong foundation for confidence and improved focus. A secure fenced yard will help Romeo enjoy daily sniffing adventures and outdoor games safely. Romeo’s quirks, like his hilarious tail-chasing and constant need to check in with his humans, make him a truly endearing companion. Are you ready to welcome this affectionate, intelligent, and protective boy into your life and continue the joyful training journey that helps him flourish? To learn more about adopting Romeo and offering him the new loving home he needs, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com! Could he be your next loyal best friend and shadow on all life’s quiet and goofy adventures?

Story
Meet Judo! A spirited six-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed currently living in Bend, OR, whose heart is as big as his love for adventure. With his striking white coat sprinkled with black patches and a galaxy of tiny spots, Judo is as unique in appearance as he is in personality. Whether he's sprinting through the trails, keeping pace on a long run, or stretching out for a lazy day indoors, this adaptable boy is happiest when he’s with his favorite people! Judo is a true athlete—he can easily run 10+ miles or tackle a rugged hike, yet he’s just as content lounging around the house. His energy is balanced by his affectionate side, and his idea of a perfect evening involves snuggling up with his favorite humans. He has excellent house manners, is fully house-trained, and even free-feeds, maintaining a healthy weight of 51 pounds. He sleeps soundly through the night (sometimes up to 14 hours!) and greets his people with the most enthusiastic tail wag imaginable! Judo thrives in an adult-only home where he can feel secure and at ease. After a stressful experience, he has become anxious around children and is looking for a home without young ones. His sensitivity heightened after he was attacked by another dog, which led to increased wariness in certain situations. He nipped a toddler when the child became more mobile, signaling that he was uncomfortable with unpredictable movements. Additionally, he has bitten two dogs near his home when he felt threatened, though he does well with other dogs in open spaces and enjoys a good romp. With the right introduction and a calm environment, he may enjoy the companionship of another dog. He’s a sensitive soul who bonds deeply with his people, and while he’s independent in some ways, he appreciates understanding and patience when it comes to things like nail trims and long car rides. He loves playing in the rain and snow, but isn’t a fan of going out in it when it’s time for him to go. His ideal guardian is active, experienced with dogs who have some anxiety, and willing to provide him with both exercise and a calm, structured environment. To make sure that Judo has a great start with his new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation. Judo has been a cherished companion for six years, and now he’s looking for a new loving home where he can continue to thrive. Could you be the one to give him that? If so, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about this incredible dog!

Story
Meet Heineken! A lively seven-and-a-half-year-old Pointer mix currently living in Three Rivers, OR, whose zest for life is as strong as his love for a good trail run and a sunny nap. With his mostly white coat and athletic 65-pound frame, he’s a striking sight on the trail—and a loyal companion through every season of adventure and rest! Heineken is a trail-blazing athlete at heart. Long-distance runs? No problem! Lake fetch? Count him in! He’s the kind of dog who thrives on outdoor activity and brings unfiltered joy to every hike, run, and splash session. But he’s not all go-go-go—this guy knows how to chill. After a good workout, he’ll happily stretch out in a sunny patch of grass or curl up fireside, satisfied and calm. Trained in all the basics—sit, stay, come, leave it, lay down, “kennel up”—Heineken is incredibly responsive to clear direction and structure. He’s crate trained, house-trained, and comfortable being left alone for stretches of the day. But like many sensitive souls, he has his quirks. Heineken does best in a calm, predictable environment and has shown that the hustle and bustle of young children isn’t his scene. He becomes anxious around infants and toddlers, especially when there’s crying or sudden movement. In one instance, he snapped at a baby during a stressful moment—he didn’t cause harm, but it was enough to show that a kid-free home or one with older, dog-savvy children (age 10+) would suit him far better. He’s also selective with other dogs, especially off-leash. While he can be friendly and playful with the right match—typically females or mellow males—he can become territorial or threatened around unfamiliar dogs, and he tends to react strongly to huskies in particular. Positive introductions and controlled environments are key to his success. Loud vehicles like motorcycles can startle him, and he may bark or lunge out of nervous energy. He’s on a low dose of vet-prescribed Fluoxetine, which has helped ease some of that reactivity, alongside the natural maturity that comes with age. Heineken is looking for a home that embraces his active lifestyle and respects his sensitivities. Could your home be his next great chapter? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com and see if Heineken’s trail-ready heart belongs by your side!
