Lainey is about 7 weeks old and weighs around 10-11 lbs. We were told Lainey's mom was a Dalmatian, but we have no idea on the dad. Lainey is a sweet, playful and adorable puppy who loves to hang out with the resident adult dogs. Lainey is also respectful of the resident cat. Lainey enjoys playing, tug a war, exploring the backyard and snuggling with her foster family. Lainey is working on her house and training and doing a great job. Because this is a young puppy, the adopter must be home during the day to continue training and socialization and help the puppy grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog. This puppy has age-appropriate vaccines, is microchipped and will need to be spayed/neuter at 6 months of age. 🎓 FREE Post-Adoption Training Support! All of our adoptions include 30 days of FREE training support, including: Unlimited 1:1 access via text message to certified, positive reinforcement-based trainers. Name:  Randy      Best Guess for Breed: Pointer and shepherd mix     Best Guess for Age:   5 years as of July 2026       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:   42 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats  but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!  We do not recommend Randy for a home with children under the age of 12.     Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.  Get to know Randy! Randy is Looking For:  This handsome guy landed in the shelter through no fault of his own. He is eagerly looking ahead to his new one. The one where he gets his own humans for long sniffy walks and romps and all the adventures they can dream up. He's well out of the puppy yips and is in his prime as an adult dog, so he knows what's most important in life: being safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:  Randy is a wonderful house guest!  His house training and crate training are excellent, he doesn’t bark in the apartment, sleeps through the night, and loves all people!  He entertains himself by playing with dog toys, sniffing under the couch, or putting himself in his crate to get in some chill time. When he wants some attention, he will gently offer to place his head in your lap for some ear scratches and when he’s gotten his fill, return to sniffing or snoozing, but he also loves to snuggle!  Randy enjoys his walks (did I mention one of his hobbies is sniffing?) and observing birds. He especially enjoys walks where he gets pets from kind neighbors and strangers.  When he’s settled in and knows he’s safe and loved, he will show you his most joyous zoomies. Overall, he’s a quirky lovable dog who would be a loyal companion     Heartworm information: Randy is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.
