Story
Gwen came in with 7 other dogs, and, probably due to a lack of socialization, was terrified of people, walking on the leash, and dogs that she didn`t know. She has been blossoming in playgroup, but still could use some help learning how to live in a home environment and doing all of the things that we expect from dogs every day. We think that her ideal home would be quiet, with someone patient enough to teach her that things don`t have to be scary. We think she would do great with a gentle/playful/confident dog to show her how to do things in a home.If you think you might have the right place for her, please email at animal.care@ventura.orgRescues: VCAR.rescue@ventura.orgFoster: vcar.foster@ventura.org

Story
Meet Evie, a brave, mellow, and smart adult Doberman who has been through a lot. She was abandoned and hit by car, causing her to lose her puppies and then to have surgery to mend a broken leg and hip. Yet her gentle spirit never wavered. She's a fighter and remains the sweetest, friendliest soul. Evie's favorite pastime is playing with her squeaky toy, which she carries everywhere. She's also incredibly cuddly and loyal, always seeking out human companionship. This beautiful girl is loving, affectionate, loyal, and has a calm, gentle spirit with just the right amount of silly. She’s incredibly well-behaved and has a heart full of love to give. Evie enjoys the simple things in life – burying her favorite bones, playing ball, and just being near her people. She’s the kind of dog who will form a deep bond with her forever family and always be by your side. Evie's resilience and loving nature make her an amazing companion. Her bravery and sweetness are an inspiration. Adopt Evie and gain a friend who will cherish you unconditionally. Evie is looking for a home where she can be the only pet – she deserves to soak up all the love and attention for herself. She is fully vetted, microchipped, and house trained. Adoption fee is $375. Story
Cute right? This adorable guy is Sensei and he is finally ready to start the search for a forever home. Ironically enough, Sensei actually needs a sensei or in another words...a teacher. We aren't sure he has a lick of training but we know an experienced and calm owner could do wonders with him. He has mellowed a lot in the last few weeks, a far cry from the emaciated wild child that showed up from the animal shelter. Honestly, he was tough to handle and all over the place at first but he has settled in and become a willing student. We aren't sure if he has any doggie social skills yet but we do know he has some reactivity on leash (common in our breed) so he will need a little work in order to go for walks in the neighborhood. He won't be the right addition for a lot of people but for the right home, Sensei could be an amazing companion. Affectionate, smart and perfect for people who love to be active...absolutely full of potential.

Story
Angie is an adorable Dobie mix with a heart of gold. She originally came to us very pregnant so she needed time to safely have and raise her pups. Now she is spayed and ready for a new start in life. She’s just under 50 pounds, all natural (floppy ears and long tail), good with other dogs and very sweet with people. It’s hard to tell if she can live with cats because she certainly seems inclined to chase. Angie has enough energy and athleticism for the active folks out there but she’s not non-stop activity so she can have down time too. She was guessed to be between 14 months and 2 years old. *We try to keep our posts up-to-date but there may be more dogs available for adoption than we have shared here. Please go to our website at www.dobiesandlittlepawsrescue.org to see all of our available dogs and fill out our adoption application.

Story
We received five pups that were brought to an upstate animal shelter as a group that were supposedly dumped in a desolate area and brought to the shelter by a Good Samaritan. We think this is yet another case of dogs breeding during the pandemic's worst year, when people moved and couldn't take their dogs, couldn't get or pay for spay and neuter appointments at veterinary clinics, etc. We had agreed to take two of the pups at a time, but it was implied that due to shelter overcrowding, the other three wouldn't be available later on to be rescued. As of early September, the siblings are 7 months old; four males and one female. They are very social with each other but have had no leash training or experience outside their home environment. Grace is the female, a big, light tan female. Each of the pups would probably benefit from having at least one other dog in the home, or else be adopted by a family that provides socializing with other dogs at dog parks and the like. None of them are aggressive. Their DNA was tested and they are 50% Doberman, 25% Belgian Malinois, and 25% Dutch Shepherd.
