Story
We rescued Hank from the local animal shelter in February 2024. He is our beautiful, silly, and sweet tempered boy. He is about a year and 5 months old, still just a puppy. He is potty-trained; he's got a handle of the basics (sit, stay/wait, shake, high five, come, lay down). Does very well in his crate, sleeps there all through the night. VERY trainable and smart. He is an athlete, he is so fast, strong, and capable. We have 2 other dogs, a female dalmatian & a male hound. The dynamic with the male hound is the reason why we have to find Hank a new home. He plays very well with our girl dog (it is cute they are best buddies). But our older male dog has grown so stubborn in his years and he has not been as welcoming to the young & energetic addition. We think Hank has had an abusive and troubled past, because he has gotten very reactive & aggressive towards our male dog when provoked. For the safety of our older dog, we know Hank should be placed in a home where he is the only dog.

Story
Cute right? This adorable guy is Sensei and he is finally ready to start the search for a forever home. Ironically enough, Sensei actually needs a sensei or in another words...a teacher. We aren't sure he has a lick of training but we know an experienced and calm owner could do wonders with him. He has mellowed a lot in the last few weeks, a far cry from the emaciated wild child that showed up from the animal shelter. Honestly, he was tough to handle and all over the place at first but he has settled in and become a willing student. We aren't sure if he has any doggie social skills yet but we do know he has some reactivity on leash (common in our breed) so he will need a little work in order to go for walks in the neighborhood. He won't be the right addition for a lot of people but for the right home, Sensei could be an amazing companion. Affectionate, smart and perfect for people who love to be active...absolutely full of potential.

Story
Zeus is a young, all natural dobie boy who is almost 2 years old. Unfortunately, he hasn't had a whole lot of training but he is smart and eager to please so in the right home, he could be a wonderful member of the family. He didn't have proper socialization with other dogs at a young age but we are working with him. He has a hard time meeting new dogs and he takes direct eye contact as a challenge so dog parks won't be a good place for him. He has however, been able to live nicely with a couple of large female dogs whom he adores. He loves to play and even has some puppy-like qualities. Zeus would be great for someone who is a bit of a homebody with a large yard or property so he can get his daily exercise without reacting to other dogs. He is a silly, happy, and submissive guy who would love to finally find a loving family of his very own. Story
Cannon is a 3-year-old Dobie (as of 2020) who was turned in to an animal shelter by his owner. He is a "hard-mouthed" dog and actually did break skin minorly when interacting with a kennel staff member, so he was then quarantined for the bite and made "rescue-only." During Cannon's stay with us, it appears that he merely engages in rough play, and an experienced adopter should be able to work through this behavior with him, either through professional training or electronic aids or both. Cannon has been kenneled alone since he wasn't able to live with another dog long-term during his stay with us. This dog will also require at least moderate daily exercise to release some of his energy. We are also seeking an adult owner for him.

Story
Audi is a shy, all-natural guy that is slowly coming out of his shell. He needs some patience, especially on leash because he just isn't sure what is expected of him all of the time. He has peacefully shared his kennel with different larger, female dogs over some time so we are confident he can live in a home with a female dog but possibly not males. Audi has a lot of potential waiting to be unlocked by the right owner. *We try to keep our posts up-to-date but there may be more dogs available for adoption than we have shared here. Please go to our website at www.dobiesandlittlepawsrescue.org to see all of our available dogs and fill out our adoption application.
