Story
Ella - Meet Ella, a beautiful, almost 9 month old and 60 pound, red, cropped and docked, Doberman. She has one floppy ear that only adds to her irresistible and goofy personality! Ella is very smart and food motivated. Since being in her foster home, she has learned sit and how to use stairs. She is working on stay and come and walks well on a leash with an easy walk harness. She is house trained and crate trained. In her foster home, she sleeps in the crate. During the day, we have started to leave her out of the crate and unattended in part of the house and she has done very well. She has not destroyed anything and either sleeps or plays with her toys. In the crate, she voices her opinion for a few minutes but then settles down nicely. She loves playing with toys and entertains herself with a bone or kong. Ella is a typical Doberman puppy with energy. She loves to be with her people and will follow you everywhere. She thinks she is a lap dog, and she loves to give kisses. She is dog friendly but can be a little shy. Ella's forever home should be committed to continued training and socialization to help her gain confidence in new situations. Because Ella is under 1 year old, DAR&E requires a fully fenced yard. (no e-fences). If you’ve got patience, a sense of humor, and a soft spot for a big-hearted goofy girl with a floppy ear and a brilliant mind, Ella might just be the dog for you! Ella is fostered in MD. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Dakota is a very affectionate, gentle, 97 pound, 7-8 year old female black/tan Doberman with a calm and friendly personality. She is a bit overweight and on a journey to a healthier leaner body. Dakota is a special needs dog; she had a cancerous mass which was removed. There are currently no signs of cancer but she should be monitored to see if it returns. Dakota greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail and gentle kisses. Dakota is calm and well-mannered. She is content to take naps and relax. If she is left alone she does whine and pace. She is not destructive but will chew a blanket. She sleeps through the night on her dog bed. Dakota will do best in a new home where someone is home with her. She does well when riding in the car. Dakota spent some with another female Doberman and got along well with her. She would be a good companion for an older or more relaxed playmate rather than rough-housing with a young puppy. Dakota is fostered in Maryland.
