She came from a backyard “oops” litter without proper early socialization, which made the world overwhelming early on. Through structured training and consistent guidance at K9netic Pack, she has made a significant transformation into a confident, affectionate, and capable dog. Kiara was previously adopted and returned—not because she is a bad dog, but because the environment was not the right fit. She was placed in a high foot-traffic home with a lot of movement and little structure. For a dog like Kiara, that kind of environment creates overstimulation and confusion. Without clear leadership, she became overwhelmed. She also sheds, which is normal for her breed mix but was a contributing factor for the previous home. This is not a reflection of Kiara’s quality—it’s a reminder that placement matters. Dutch s a handsome 5.5-year-old black and tan male Doberman with a docked tail, natural ears, and a big heart. He weighs about 100 pounds and is a sweet, loyal boy who enjoys being close to his people. Dutch is happiest soaking up attention and companionship while you watch TV or read a book. Dutch also enjoys getting out and being part of everyday life. He likes going to restaurants and sitting on the patio for lunch, where he can relax near his person and enjoy the outing. Dutch enjoys his walks, though he can be reactive to small critters. Watch out squirrels! He will do best with someone comfortable handling a large, strong dog with a high prey drive. He likes bigger dogs and can be okay with some small dogs, but his ideal home would be a single-dog household with no cats, where he can settle in and feel secure. Dutch does have some anxiety. Like a lot of dogs, he can be very interested when he sees dogs and bicycles while riding in the car, and this is something his foster is actively working on. While home alone, Dutch is confined to a small area as he does not enjoy being crated. He also likes having his emotional support chicken (dog toy) with him when he is left alone. Dutch will do best in a home with owners who have experience with large dogs, and who can provide clear boundaries and structure. He has a good training foundation and is looking for a home where he can continue to work on his training. His ideal home is one where he isn't left alone for long periods, because his favorite place to be is right by his people's side. Dutch is fostered in Virginia. Meet Axel, a four-year-old male Doberman. Axel has natural ears, fawn coloration, and a docked tail. He is a gentle giant who loves to be with his people. Axel is sweet and easygoing, and he genuinely aims to please his humans. He knows basic commands (sit, come, down) and has adjusted to changes in routine quickly. He's well-behaved in the house, and we haven't needed to crate him. He pulls on the leash and would benefit from more training to walk well. He does better in a harness. Axel is keenly interested in squirrels, rabbits, foxes, and whatever wildlife stumbles through the neighborhood. On walks, he generally alerts before pulling toward something. He enjoys looking out the windows and patrolling the backyard. He will bark if he sees or hears something that concerns him — squirrels, trucks, the occasional passerby — but when guests come over, he meets new people with quiet curiosity. Axel is a good eater — he's a big boy at around 92 pounds — but he has good food manners and is not a counter-surfer. We do not have experience with Axel around children. We think he would be gentle and kind, because that is his nature. At the same time, his size and enthusiasm could be a handful. For that reason, we recommend a home where everyone is familiar with Dobermans and willing to help Axel continue to learn. Prior to coming to DAR&E, Axel lived with a smaller female mixed breed, which makes us think he would be comfortable in a home with another female dog. Axel was a bit overweight when he came to DAR&E. As part of his veterinary care after coming to DAR&E, we found out that his thyroid gland was under active which often causes weight gain. It’s a condition that is very common with Dobermans. It is managed with an inexpensive daily thyroid supplement. Axel is a loving dog who would thrive in a home with treats, a comfy dog bed, and humans to lean against and love him back. He is being fostered in Maryland. Meet Daisy, an energetic 15-month-old black & tan female Doberman. Daisy has natural ears, a docked tail, and weighs in at 73 pounds. She was a little unsure for the first day but quickly claimed her new people and home. Daisy came into the rescue through no fault of her own. Daisy has had some formal training. Daisy knows the commands sit, down, come, and let’s go. Sometimes she doesn’t want to follow the commands, but she knows them. We are also working on “leave it”. Daisy is not a big fan of car rides; however, she was very well behaved the few times I have taken her in the car. She alternates between looking around and laying down. Daisy likes to take walks and sniffs everything. She will pick up and eat items, so her handler needs to be aware to keep an eye on what she is sniffing. When in our fenced in backyard, Daisy does have a prey drive and will race after squirrels and birds - hoping she can catch one! She also likes to play fetch with squeaky tennis balls or run around with a jolly ball. A fenced in yard would be a big plus for Daisy. Daisy is house and crate trained. She is a happy girl who needs to be crated when left alone. She sleeps most of the time while waiting for her people to come home. When they do get home, Daisy gets very excited!! She does a bit of jumping when in that exciting moment, but we are working on being a bit calmer. Daisy will pick up things around the house that don't belong to her, such as flip flops. She should be watched when chewing on stuffies or soft plastic toys. Daisy does have a favorite blanket that she likes to suck on. Daisy is a happy, smart, loving girl who quickly acclimated to our household. She is a typical velcro Doberman who wants to follow you everywhere. She also likes to curl up beside you when watching TV so she can be near you. Daisy currently sleeps in a crate in our bedroom. With some patience and continued training, Daisy will be a fantastic family member. Daisy is happily awaiting her forever home and is currently being fostered in Virginia. Meet Ernestine, aka Tina! This elegant queen has fully settled into her routine and is living her best life. Tina was found as a stray down south, lost, frightened, and unsure of what kindness looks like. Now she’s safe at the Haven after taking her very first flight to get to us. She’s spending her time in foster care resting, healing, and learning the fine art of chihuahua diplomacy in a house full of tiny, friendly supervisors who have made her feel right at home. Tina adores exploring the yard at her own pace, following foster mom around for treats, and supervising household activities like a tiny, silent CEO. She still isn’t a fan of being handled, and leash training… well… let’s call it a journey. She does great once the leash is on, but getting it on and off? Absolutely not. A fenced yard would be ideal for her comfort and peace. Tina is a wonderfully independent girl who would love a calm home where she can just chill out, vibe, and socialize when food is involved. She’s not a cuddle bug, and she’ll tell you that herself, but she’s a lovely companion for anyone who appreciates quiet company, a gentle presence, and a little lady who lives life on her own terms. Tina is looking for a home with patient humans who will let her acclimate on her own timeline. While it takes her some time to trust you and she's not much for snuggling yet, she LOVES chicken jerky treats and they are a surefire way to win her heart. She bravely eats them directly from her foster mom's hand, and will even let her foster mom pick her up as long as she does it confidently. Tina enjoys company, but not being handled. She has recently permitted foster mom the honor of delivering chin rubs, which is basically her version of signing a peace treaty. She will sit nearby while you exist ~ as a listener, a witness, a small supervisor with opinions about the crinkle of packaging and the exact time dinner should have been served. She is deeply bossy about food and deeply uninterested in being carried, hugged, or otherwise arranged. You talk, she listens, and occasionally she comes over to confirm you still possess snacks. Tina enjoys toddling behind her foster mom from room to room, selecting cozy beds the way some of us collect throw pillows. And she is a great dining companion: as soon as her foster mom sits down to eat dinner, Tina is right in front of her asking for a seat at the table. She's building her leash walking skills and making great progress, but she'd love a home with a fenced-in yard where she can bounce arond like a silly, happy explorer. Tina gets along well with other small dogs; we haven't had a chance to observe her with bigger ones yet. She's learning lots of new skills in her foster home and is making great progress on both stairs and housetraining. For now, she will benefit from having some potty pads around. She does well in the car and is happy to stay home while her humans are at work. Tina would love a quiet home where she can exist alongside you, request snacks, and occasionally socialize on her terms. She is a companion in the truest sense: present, steady, and never overwhelming. Tina is looking for a quiet, gentle, and patient forever family where she is loved just as she is. Could it be yours?
