ADOPTION FEE: $475 **SEE SPECIAL EVENT ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet our Farm Diva, Anabelle! This princess is a real character. She prefers it if we all work around her schedule. She loves her walks and does well on a leash, but you can't rush her. She likes to stop and smell the roses along the way. Anabelle finds it unacceptable when another dog yells at her from afar and she would rather not be friends with such rudeness. Anabelle is originally from Puerto Rico. Her owners left the island and didn't take Anabelle with them. She has been very sweet and social with staff but after everything she has been through, new people give her the scaries. Can you blame her? She needs a slow intro to new people as she can be easily overwhelmed by those that come on too strong. Watch out though, once she gets past her nerves, you're now besties! When she's in a quiet environment, she settles and is very affectionate. Once Anabelle gets over her nerves of meeting you for the first time, she will run circles around you with intermittent breaks meant for kisses and pets. Once she's done with the love session, she's off to do another lap in our fields. Anabelle has never had an accident in her kennel since being at the Farm. We never guarantee it but it's safe to say she's potty trained. Since being at the farm, it takes Anabelle multiple intro to warm up to other dogs. Her play style can be overwhelming so she needs some direction and supervision as she tends to get over stimulated easily due to her high energy level. We will update the profile as we do more dog introductions. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Anabelle will play with dogs but needs direction and supervision as she gets over stimulated easily. KNOWN WITH CATS: Unsure KNOWN WITH KIDS: Anabelle prefers when people around her go slow and give her a chance to get used to them. This may prove difficult for children. She also has a rough and tumble play style and might knock over a child on accident. KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit and Down, working on Place KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Anabelle will settle into her crate given a few minutes. KNOWN LIKES: Anabelle is food motivated and LOVES to run. KNOWN DISLIKES: Our little diva doesn't like being rushed. HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: Spay/Neuter First 3 distemper series vaccines and de-wormings Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees Current on heartworm preventative Current on flea/tick preventative EXCLUSIVE ADOPTER BENEFITS: Free first exam with: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Jermantown Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA offers $250 coverage - details provided) Free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting (in DC/Arlington/Alexandria only) A portion of EVERY ADOOPTION fee supports spay/neuter for animals in under-resourced communities. Story
Batman is a 2-year-old black and rust male with cropped ears and a natural tail. He is a sweet, friendly, loving boy who follows me around wanting to know everything I’m doing. He is very happy, wiggly and loves to give kisses. He enjoys playing with my dogs or is content to play with a toy or chase his tail. He rides well in the car and walks pretty good on a leash. He is very food motivated and picked up on the routine here quickly. He has good house manners although like a lot of dogs he may take food items off counters if the opportunity presents itself. Check his video https://youtu.be/EDhJ4nkCHac?si=g44dVGyWlRpZ-VfV Batman weighs about 60 pounds and has a big personality. He has a good energy level having plenty of energy for play or exercise but also good to relax and hang out. He is crate trained and likes a Kong or chew toy while in there. He is good out of the crate overnight, but is content to be in his crate when I am not home. He has learned to sit for treats. He’s unknown with cats or small children but is good with other dogs. He’s a happy, super cool guy looking for his forever home. Batman is fostered in Virginia. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Max is a 3 year old, black/rust, docked, natural eared lump of sweetness that weighs in at around 74lbs and has average activity level. Max is a sweet heart that has yet to meet a human he has not liked. He is house trained and spends his time while we are away in his ex pen snoring away. He's learning how to wait to go out of a door until given the okay, he knows sit and down, has started to wait to eat until given the okay and we are working on him giving his paw. He will need solid work in his leash manners. We have never had an issue taking anything away from him and he has had no problems if you approach his bowl while he eats. At night he sleeps on a bed in our room and from day one has just gone with the flow of our routine and has blended right in. In his previous home he lived with four other dogs and a cat. He liked to chase the cat. Max will make sure that you are never alone and will follow you wherever you go. He will lay his head in our lap for love and will look up at you with complete adoration and just wait for you to pay attention to him. He's had baths and nail trims while with us and has done well with both. Max is waiting for a family that will love him for who he is and will help him become the dog he can be. Max is being fostered in Maryland. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Meet Coco! She is a sweet, 9-year-old Blue Doberman. She loves to be anywhere and everywhere that you are! Coco is a healthy girl who weighs about 66 pounds and has a docked tail and natural ears. Coco also has a beautiful full coat of fur. Coco is house trained. She is not a fan of being crated so I have left her with run of the house when I am not home without incident. Coco will whine when I am gone so she would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time. Coco enjoys using her nose to explore our yard and loves taking walks in our woods and down our road. Coco may jump around and pull on the leash if she sees a cat or other small animal. Coco gets excited when she sees deer. She also loves to relax and lay in the sun when outside! https://youtu.be/Zcscqwxr1EE?si=Lvbu2x4QHIopaVKA Coco enjoys nibbling on a couple of her favorite plush toys and will usually have one or two with her most of the time. She does like to sleep in our bed, but she tends to stay in her spot and isn’t a bed hog. She also likes to lay next to you on the couch. Coco likes meeting new people, including children, and enjoys getting the extra attention from them. Coco is dog reactive and will need a home without other dogs. Coco is not good with cats. Coco loves to take car rides and will keep watch out the windows for most of the ride. Coco goes with me to my office most mornings. We usually do not see any of my coworkers, but when we do, she enjoys meeting them. Coco is a well-mannered girl who allows me to Dremel her nails, bathe her, and wipe her feet when wet before coming inside the house. If you’re looking for an older, calmer Doberman than Coco would be a great companion for you. She is currently located in Virginia. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Meet Kismet, a beautiful and sleek 1-year old black/tan, cropped male Doberman who is eagerly awaiting his forever home. Kismet is a quick learner and responds well to positive training experiences. Kismet is very smart and curious. Weird fact- Kismet likes to take showers and will stand nicely inside the shower while getting his beauty treatments. He loves to be hugged and petted and has the potential to form a deep bond with his human. Kismet also carries a tender vulnerability, navigating the world with some insecurity that will require understanding and patience from his potential adopter. While Kismet may initially be cautious in new situations and with new people, his sweet nature shines through as he gradually acclimates. Positive reinforcement and gentle guidance will be crucial in helping Kismet feel secure in his surroundings. A calm and consistent approach to training, combined with plenty of reassurance and love, will help him flourish and overcome his past. Kismet will do best in an adult only household. It's important to note that Kismet is still very much a puppy and so is not yet trained. He is working on his basic commands and house training. Kismet’s adopter should be prepared to invest time and effort into training, starting with the fundamentals. He will benefit greatly from the guidance and structure that consistent training provides. He is good with cats and could be ok with another dog with proper introduction. Kismet will be best in an adult only household. If you are ready to open your heart and home to a handsome young boy who needs a little extra support, consider giving this beautiful boy the loving home he deserves and be rewarded by watching him grow to his potential. Kismet is being fostered in MD. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.

Story
Meet Charlie! Charlie is about 2 years old and weighs about 26 lbs. Our best guess for Charlie's breed mix is Min Pin/Fiest Mix (just a guess). Charlie is a happy boy who has a good deal of energy and enjoys daily walks and play time. Once he has gotten his energy out he is happy to chill with you on the couch or snuggle in for a nap. Charlie is good with other dogs, but is not good with cats. Although Charlie is not in a foster home with children, we feel he would do well with children 5 years and up. Charlie would do best in a home where someone is around a good portion of the day. Charlie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from Canine and Kitties Rescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $375.00, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Meet Cute Bam Bam - Bam Bam is about 13 weeks old and weighs around 15 pounds. We think Bam Bam looks like a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Terrier Mix (just a guess). Bam Bam loves to spend the day wrestling with his sister, Pebbles. Bam Bam loves to play, play, play with all the dogs in his foster home, including his 3 older and much larger foster sisters! He also loves to lay in the grass when he gets tired from playing too hard and running to chase the bigger dogs. Bam Bam is working on his house and crate training. Because of his playful nature, his forever home must have another playful dog in the home to keep him company and get out his playful energy! Baby puppies will require an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day to continue training - no exceptions! This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be spayed at the age of 6 months. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check.
