Story
Forever in Foster CareReina will be a forever foster in DRM's Program and is NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.    Meet Reina! This girl is 7 years old and is handicapable! Reina was originally rescued from a high kill shelter by an all breed rescue. It was apparent she suffered from neurological issues, but nothing could be found on x-rays of her spine. DRM then stepped in and welcomed Reina into our program to get the help needed so she can thrive!   Reina was born with a condition that caused the nerves from her back legs to brain to not map completely. Sometimes she can be a bit wobbly and sometimes she suffers from incontinence. She is on a special diet that has helped a lot with her potty issues though!  Reina’s favorite activities include snuggling her humans, chewing on bones, going for walks, playdates with her friends and exploring the yard. She also LOVES to chase rabbits and squirrels! When she’s tuckered out, she’ll sunbathe looking out the window or hang out with her foster family.  Reina has lived with other dogs and cats – she’s awesome with dogs but can be very curious about her feline friends. Reina is super smart and knows all the basic commands. Her recall is great (as long as she’s not scouting for bunnies or squirrels) and she is very food motivated to learn anything else you’d like to teach her. She is a hit around the neighborhood with her sunny disposition and love of everyone she meets. May 22, 2024, 9:03 pm

Sunny was surrendered to DRM in 2018 after her owner passed away and has been loved by her foster mom since then. Sunny is a smart girl and knows all of her basic commands. She also lets you know when she must go outside by pawing at your hand and giving you a quick kiss. She loves to run around in the yard and when she’s tired out, she wants to rest by your side.   Sunny wants nothing more than to be by your side and craves attention. Her foster reports that she just wants to be loved and feel safe!  Please read all adoption steps and policies carefully on our website. http://dobermanrescueminnesota.com/adoption-steps/ Qualified adopters are within the approved adoption area, and Adopter will be requested to visit this foster dog at the foster family home. Story
Anubis would like to say Hello! It is very nice to meet you! This gorgeous 1 1/2 year old neutered boy is Anubis. He is a large, bounds of energy and curious boy. Anubis is learning all sorts of new behaviors, trainings, boundaries and above all being exposed to all different environments.  Anubis was not socialized properly and he is going to require an owner who has Doberman experience, someone who is comfortable and knowledgeable in training with a Doberman/working breed with their traits, size, personality and behaviors.  Anubis needs very slow intros to everything new. He lacks self confidence and needs a strong confident owner who can show him the way with hard work, trust, patience and lots of love and understanding.  He is getting better on walks and his fosters work all the time with him on leash control, basic commands and general obedience. They tried a prong training collar and he seemed a little reactive to it and so they have switched to a gentle leader and he seems to be responding to that much better. He is getting better with meeting new people, but still need slow intros. He will need to be with a family with no children younger than teenagers, he has not had exposure to children that we know of and they make him nervous and on edge. Too much noise and fast movements. He is still unsure of the whole world around him and so we want to make sure he feels safe in his own home and yard so we are requiring him to be placed in a home with a tall, physical fenced yard.  He is crate trained, may bark for a bit and no blankets, pads or toys in kennel for he will destroy anything in it.  He did pretty good at the vet and was able to get through the whole appointment with no issues. He is ok in the car, as long as you are in motion. As soon as you stop and he sees people and dogs he will start to bark nonstop. So this is an area that will need work as well.  He gets along good with the resident senior female dog and the cat. Wants to play nonstop because he is a puppy and has endless energy, but he does respect the other dog and listens to her when she has had enough. He likes to play with the kitty and doesn't get too rough.  Anubis is a really great boy, he is just going to be a lot of work and needs an owner who is going to be able to provide training, structure, boundaries, patience, strong leadership and love.  This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog. Beautiful girl looking for perfect home!! Delilah is doing well! Not only is she soooo beautiful, she can be such a sweetie pie! She is Velcro to her foster mom much of the day and loves to cuddle. She is soooo smart, she has learned to sit, go sit by the door (her potty cue), she knows "wait" , "come" & "stay" and shake! She definitely loves chew toys, so lots of of tuff chew toys are good to have on hand. She is good with older, slower more calmer kids. She can still be nervous in new situations and around new people or animals, so we have to be cautious about introductions, but it seems she is attentive to foster mom for cues on if the situation is ok/safe and she seems to be able to be calmed/distracted before she gets too agitated. Delilah needs a home that will be patient and understanding with her and will earn her trust through calmness, dependability and most importantly lots of love!!! Story
Hi, my name is Fury! But I'm more like a happy, gentle breeze that wants to have fun! You might recognize my name from the famous character Director Nick Fury of the Marvel movies, I'm kinda like him: I love being the center of attention and don't like it when people take my stuff! I am a big dog! With my mixed Doberman Pinscher/Black Labrador genes I am a whopping 52#/lbs and have a ton of energy and muscle that needs to be worked! Because of this it would be best if I was paired with an active family who knows how to keep a dog mentally stimulated and respects my boundaries well. No apartment living for me please! No cats or small children either! My caretakers have learned some important things about me: I am a chow-hound and will try to eat anything I can get my hands on! So please leave food out of reach from me or I'll swoop it all up. Secondly, I would prefer if people didn't grab things that I have in my mouth, it's mine not yours hehe! Overall, I am a big-hearted dog who wants to go play, be adventurous, have fun with other people and dogs! I am however not such a big fan of car rides, they make my tummy feel sick eww! I love all people and dogs, am a healthy, happy boy and just want to find my home. Let's work together and find it!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Hi! I’m Cyrus! I’m about 2 years old and look to be maybe a Doberman/Lab mix, but that’s just a guess! I’m a very happy boy and I love to play!  I’m very sweet and would do great in training (as I will do just about anything for a treat ). I’d do great in an active family, someone who can take me on daily walks and help me get out some energy. I do good with other dogs, but the shelter still recommends we do a meet & greet if I'm going to be in a home with other dogs. I would do best in a home wiht older children just due to my active personality. I do great in my kennel overnight and seem to be potty-trained! I've spent 4 weeks at a training facility getting hands-on training to be the best boy! I know how to sit, lay down, and walk well on a leash! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA, and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long-distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##1836569##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please help us by fostering  TODAY!!!!! ________________________________________________________ We try to evaluate  most of our adoptable dogs temperament  with a senior UDR rescuer before it goes into a foster home. This helps ensure we place it in the right foster home. We may have some dogs in rescue who are not on our website that we are getting to know and who may need a foster home. Our goal is to place dogs in the right foster and adoptive homes! Of course it is up to the fosters to further evaluate the dogs while they are living in the home.  New arrivals coming soon! We partner with Doberman Rescue of Northern Texas, High Desert Doberman Rescue and many other rescues across the US and world. We have new Dobermans coming in often and have the ability to take in a homeless Dobermans the same day we are contacted should we get a surrender request. We can always use fosters to be on the ready to foster one of these new arrivals!         Please apply on our website to foster, or give a shout out if you can help any of these dogs!! As always fosters get the first chance to adopt! You provide a safe, loving home with daily structure until your foster dog gets adopted. Time frame is anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months. If you have a dog, your dog may like a friend. We try match up the dog with the foster home best suited for each dog in need. UDR supplies all the dog food, some supplies and always pays for vet care. Going on vacation and worried you will have to find a place for your foster dog?? NO worries!!!Know we DO have numerous options for vacation boarding and doing temporary fostering of your foster dog while you take that much needed vacation. We are also in need of short term fosters, those foster homes who would take in a foster dog on a short term basis, a weekend, a week or two, even to help in emergency or medical situations. Please fill out our foster application today and help a dog in need!!!  Fosters get first chance to adopt their foster dogs, so this might be a great way to "test" out your new friend. Fostering has its perks!! Many fosters do join the foster failure club, meaning they end up adopting their foster dog! Why should I foster a dog? Fostering a dog is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have (other than adopting, of course). By taking an animal in need temporarily into your home you’re: freeing up a spot so a shelter can take in another dog. giving your foster dog the time he needs to be ready for adoption. helping us learn more about the dog so he can end up in the best home possible. socializing the dog to a home environment and possibly getting him used to being around other pets and different types of people. Thank you for helping us help them! Fostering saves lives. Be a hero, foster a dog in need! He was microchipped, owners were called but never came to claim him.  Pumba would like to move onto a brighter future. He has become food obsessed a trait likely developed from uncertainty about his next meal. He needs to be fed away from other pets. He resource guards, but not with humans. He has been ok with my other dogs, but would prefer total human attention.  He is fine with older considerate children. He is potty trained and does not need a crate. He however does like one handy with the door open He will go lay in it to watch the goings on. He sleeps under a cover at the foot of my bed. The only time he becomes vocal is when he gets over excited. Bring out a leash. Loves a good walk! Or when he potty's he wants to come right back in and will bark at the door excitingly.  He does bark if locked into his kennel and you are ignoring him.  He would be perfect for a single or couple middle aged couple.
