Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. Lil Feet has been patiently waiting (since December) to find her forever home. Her best buddy Marty (another foster dog in her foster home) will be leaving for his foster to adopt home soon so we are hoping to find an adopter (or foster) for her. She is going to be devastated without her buddy so we would love for her to be able to leave for her forever home at the same time he does. We believe Lil Feet is a Doberman mix. She won’t be as big as a Doberman but probably on the larger side of medium. She has beautiful yellow/green eyes and we think she’s about a year old. She is an active dog that loves to play with other dogs, chase squirrels and rabbits. She would benefit from a home with another active dog to play with or an active person who will let her tag along often. She loves car rides and she is house trained. She is a very sweet girl who has never had any type of stability in her life until she came into rescue this winter. She will make a wonderful companion for someone! Good with kids. Spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and started on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Harrisburg, PA 2am FridaysPort Jervis, NY 5am Fridays Southington, CT 8am Fridays East Hartford, CT 11am Fridays To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $125-$140 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. For more info regarding adopting, email apps.aasr@gmail.com. Thank you for considering one of our rescue babies! May 27, 2023, 3:55 pm

Story
Meet Cosmo, a 3-year-old Doberman Pinscher who is looking for his forever home! Cosmo is a black and rust Dobie who is neutered. He has cropped ears (one is straight up, and the other is floppy) and a docked tail. He is microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines. He is currently being cared for by the Doberman Pinscher Rescue of PA. Cosmo is an excellent family dog who bonds strongly with his family. He is a fast learner and is highly food-motivated. He behaves wonderfully at the vet and has no resource-guarding issues at all. He is very protective of his people and loves making them happy. Cosmo will need an experienced, strong leader to teach him proper reactions to new situations and people in the home. He is very excitable and needs consistent training with firm, steady commands to know when to be calm. Ideal adoption candidates will have experience with Dobermans or other large working breeds. Ideal home environments will have a fenced in yard in a quiet area with minimum vehicle and pedestrian traffic. No young children and would do best as an only dog. No cats. If you think that Cosmo would be a great addition to your family, visit https://www.dprpa.org/adopt-available-dogs-apply to fill out an adoption application!

Story
Meet the oh so sweet and personable, Vyce! Vyce was surrendered to rescue when his family realized they were struggling to provide the time and stimulation a Doberman needs. Vyce is a 4-year-old cropped and docked fawn Doberman. Even though Vyce wasn’t socialized much, we found that he absolutely loves meeting new people. Vyce’s loves to run around in the yard and play, play, play! Which is great because he could stand losing a couple of pounds. Vyce's absolute favorite thing is his love for his people. He wants to be with you and by your side and continually with you 24/7. He loves long walks, playing and also enjoys just relaxing and being with you. He is doing good walking, learning to go in his crate easily and is just all around a very good boy Vyce could benefit from some basic training as he needs to work on his leash manners, but he is a very intelligent dog and aims to please. He has lived with young children, however due to his size and energy level we are recommending a home with older kids. Vyce has also lived with a cat, and should do fine in a home with one. He has been introduced to a few laid back dogs and got along with each, therefore, a home with another canine companion would be beneficial. Vyce is looking for an active family, who will provide him with a routine and ample outlet to get his energy out. If you think Vyce is for you, apply here: https://www.dprpa.org/adopt-foster

Story
Hi, my name is Mindy. If you think my velvet ears will melt your heart, just wait until your eyes meet mine! Mindy is a 6-year-old female who was surrendered when her breeder decided to move on to other breeds. Although it’s difficult to imagine such a magnificent creature being so disposable, his loss could be your gain because this middle-aged gal is super sweet and enjoys most anything! She’s good with kids, loves people and car rides, and is content to just soak up the sun outside or relax on a dog bed. Despite being very overweight, she enjoys walks too. Her foster home already has her on track to hit her target weight loss of approximately 20 lbs. Mindy is learning what toys are and would love a family that will appreciate this sweet girl and keep her in motion to continue losing weight and feeling her best. She is scheduled to be spayed on May 9th and will then be ready to move to a forever home or foster to adopt situation. She previously lived on a farm, so she may be suitable for cats. If you think this girl may be for you, please apply at https://www.dprpa.org/adopt-foster

Story
Courtesy Posting! Hi everyone, I am Bass, they call me a huge sweetheart who loves my snuggles and kisses. I'm brilliant, at least that's what I think "highly intelligent” means. All I know is I can sit and shake on command and am quick to learn more for the right owner. I am told I am a sweet guy with a great personality and the brains to match. I need someone who understands my size and spirit, someone who has had some dog experience. I've been working on developing my skillset while staying here at Animal Care Sanctuary so I'm up for a job if you need me to work. I do like to play and getting loving from my people is my favorite thing, next to treats of course! I'm almost five years old and I'm searching for my forever home. Bass is a little timid when he first meets new people but only takes him a minute or two to come around and get comfortable. He would excel with a job to do and someone who can put in the work with him. If you are looking for a dog who can work but loves to lay on the couch and cuddle too, then he is the guy for you. He did live with two large GSD’s and was fine but would not recommend small dogs as he does have a good prey drive. So also, no cats. Bass is neutered, micro chipped, and up to date on all vaccines. He is located at: Animal Care Sanctuary 353 Sanctuary Hill Lane East Smithfield, PA 18817 adoptions@animalcaresanctuary.org If interested, please fill out one of the shelter’s applications: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ACSP/Dog
