Luna

Poodle (Standard) Great Dane

Female, Adult
Red Deer County, AB
Size
(when grown) X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more
Details
Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
We rescued Luna 2 years ago (previous history unknown). Extra Large - perhaps Poodle/Great Dane. Gets along well with our medium-sized dog, and family of 5 (youngest is 10). We had a large private acreage where she loved playing outside and usually stayed within the range of her boundary collar. She is house-trained, calm & cuddly indoors. We recently moved to a smaller acreage in a more populated area. Many of our neighbours have small - medium sized dogs that wander off-leash, often passing right through our yard. She has become increasingly aggressive since the move and recently attacked the neighbour's dog, causing puncture marks. She would do best on a quiet acreage with no cats or small dogs. If other large dogs, she would require a dedicated/experienced owner to introduce/manage aggression. I would recommend no small children just to be extra cautious due to her size. Kennel-trained, Spayed, Up-to date vaccines, Muzzle-trained. Well-loved, just want a more peaceful home for her.

Story
Location: Medicine Hat Area// Age: 1 Year, 8 months// Sex: Spayed Female// Energy Level: Medium// Dogs: Yes, Gabby loves other dogs// Cats: Yes, but wants to be friebds and will chase// Kids: Yes// If sunshine could take dog form, it would look a lot like Gabby ☀️ This brown-eyed beauty is the definition of joy on four paws — playful, loving, and just the right mix of goofy and smart. Gabby spends her days romping around the yard with her foster playmate, trading zoomies for cuddle breaks and never turning down a snack (seriously… she’s very food-motivated 🍗). Gabby loves dogs, thinks cats are fascinating (dog-savvy cats only, please — she really wants to be friends!), and she’s a total sweetheart with kids. She’s the kind of pup who fits right in — whether it’s family movie night, a weekend hike, or a road trip to somewhere new. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and ready to find her forever people — the ones who will include her in all their adventures and love her for her playful, happy heart. Because honestly? Gabby isn’t just a good dog. She’s a great dog — the kind that makes every day brighter. 💛If you would like the opportunity to meet Gabby - please complete an application on our website and one of our volunteers will be in touch to arrange a phone call: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form

Story
Location: Parkland County (Edmonton Area) // Age: Rascal is 3 years, Cece is 13 // Sex: Neutered males // Energy level: Rascal is medium, Cece is low // Dogs: Yes // Cats: Yes // Kids: Yes // Meet Cece & Rascal 💛🐶 Double the love. Double the personality. Double the tail wags. Cece and Rascal are a devoted duo who balance each other in the sweetest way — like peanut butter and jelly, sunshine and shade, or naps and zoomies. 🐾 Cece – The Gentle Soul: Cece is the calmer half of this bonded pair. With his moderate-to-low energy, he’s happiest lounging nearby, quietly following you from room to room, or settling at the foot of your bed for the night. He walks beautifully on leash and enjoys stopping to sniff the world around him. Squirrels and birds are very interesting (and sometimes worth a bark!), but he doesn’t lunge — just observes with curiosity. He adores gentle affection, especially ear and neck scratches. Cece is easygoing, sweet, and happiest simply being close to his people. He may be partially deaf, but he watches closely and takes his cues from you — and from Rascal. He’s incredibly adaptable and thrives on routine. At night, he sleeps peacefully and is reliably house trained with regular outings. He’s an old soul who takes life in stride. 🐾 Rascal – The Spirited Sidekick: Rascal brings the sparkle! Moderately high energy, playful, and treat-motivated, he loves walks, jogs, toys, and interactive play. He’s smart, eager to learn, and very responsive — especially when snacks are involved. He’s affectionate and expressive — expect happy vocal greetings and full-body wiggles when you come home. Rascal thrives on connection and absolutely adores being involved in whatever you’re doing. If you sit down, he’s there. If you get up, he’s ready. If you leave the room, he’s checking in. And the sweetest part? If Rascal goes outside without Cece, he waits at the door for him. Their bond is undeniable and heart-melting. 🏡 Their Ideal Home: Cece and Rascal would love a family who appreciates both cozy downtime and playful energy. A fenced yard would be wonderful for Rascal to stretch his legs and show off his “spitfire” zoomies, while Cece supervises with calm approval. They’ve met other dogs and a cat respectfully, showing curiosity without issues. They are not resource guarders and happily share space, toys, and affection. They sleep through the night on their beds or the couch, free roam respectfully when left alone, and are generally very easy to care for. With regular bathroom breaks, they are reliably house trained. Because Cece can be sensitive around his back end (and will gently warn if something hurts), a family that is respectful of his space and mindful with handling would be ideal. Rascal can get playfully mouthy when excited but responds well to direction. 💛 Why You’ll Love Them: They are incredibly loving, affectionate, and loyal. They get excited for their walks. They nap like pros. They watch you like you’re their whole world. Together, they offer the perfect balance of calm companionship and playful joy. If you’re looking for two best friends who already love each other deeply and are ready to love you just as much, Cece and Rascal are waiting. 🐾Because some bonds are too special to break — and these two are meant to stay side by side. Story
Location: Edmonton, AB // Age: Approx 9 years // Sex: Neutered male // Energy Level: Low-Medium // Dogs: Yes // Cats: Untested but likley ok // Kids: Older, calm kids // 🐾Milo is a sweet little Chihuahua boy who proves that the best things really do come in small, cuddly packages. With his gentle nature and low energy level, Milo enjoys a relaxed lifestyle—short walks, cozy naps, and being as close to his people as possible. When he’s not curled up beside you, he has the cutest little spurts of energy where he’ll trot around happily before settling back in for another snooze. 🐾This affectionate senior absolutely adores people. He greets everyone like a long-lost friend and would happily spend his days following his person from room to room or wiggling his way into your lap for snuggles. 🐾Milo walks beautifully on leash and seems to already know his manners, often checking in with his handler and stopping when you stop. He also enjoys enrichment toys—especially hide-a-treat games (because snacks are one of his favorite things!). 🐾Like many small dogs, Milo is still working on his housetraining. He would do best in a home with easy, frequent access to the outdoors to help him succeed. Right now, his foster mom uses belly bands to help manage occasional accidents while he continues learning. Milo also tends to gobble his food and water, so he currently eats and drinks from slow feeders to keep things safe and comfortable. 🐾Milo gets along well with other dogs, though he can be a little protective of his people or food at first until he feels secure. With proper introductions and time to settle in, he should do well with a friendly canine companion. Cats would likely be fine, and due to his small size and gentle nature, he would do best in a home with older, calm children. 🐾This little senior deserves a home where he will be cherished, spoiled, and loved for the rest of his days. Milo has so much affection to give, and he’s ready to share it with a family who will adore having a loyal shadow and cuddle buddy by their side. 🐾If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion with a soft heart and a gentle soul, Milo might just be your perfect match. Story
Location: Crossfield, AB // Age: Approx 1 Year // Sex: Spayed Female // Size: Approx 20 lbs // Energy: Medium (with a splash of puppy zoomies!) // Dogs: Yes — playful friends are a must! // Cats: Yes -dog-savvy cats // Kids: Yes // Canela is as unique looking as she is sweet. This 20-lb cutie is just wrapping up her puppy phase, which means you get the best of both worlds: playful, bouncy fun *and* a smart, eager girl who is ready to learn. 💛 Canela **loves** other dogs and truly shines with a playful canine buddy. If there’s a dog in the home who enjoys romping, wrestling, and zooming around the yard, Canela will be in heaven. She gets along with all dogs but is very play-oriented, so a playful match is ideal. 💛 This smart cookie is very food motivated and eager to please, making her a dream for anyone who enjoys training. Puzzle toys, games, bones, and learning new things are right up her alley. She would thrive in a home that enjoys walks, enrichment, and keeping their dog’s mind busy. Once her needs are met, she’s perfectly happy to entertain herself with toys or curl up for a cozy nap beside you. 💛 She’s working on her house training and does not have accidents with consistent outings. She also is fairly comofrtable in her crate, sleeping through the night (with only a brief 15-minute bedtime protest to plead her case for more fun). She rides well in the car in her crate and likrd being outdoors—unless it’s too cold, because this little lady gets chilly easily! Canela would do best in a home with kids who understand her playful, zoomie energy. She takes direction beautifully and will be an absolute rockstar for a family who wants a fun, trainable, affectionate companion. She’s a bouncy, joyful girl who just needs a moment to feel comfortable — and once she does, her loving, cuddly personality shines. If you’re looking for a playful sidekick, a training partner, and a sweet cuddle buddy all in one adorable package, Canela might be your perfect match. 💛 If you're interested in meeting Canela, complete an application and our team will be in touch: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form

Story
Location: Bowden, AB // Age: Approx: 4 Years // Size: Medium // Sex: Neutered Male // Energy Level: Medium // Dogs: Yes // Cats: Yes // Kids: Older, dog savvy kids // Meet Ratchet – your gentle shadow with a heart of gold. 🐾💛 Ratchet is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart without even trying. He’s a sweet, soulful little guy with a moderate energy level and a big love for being part of the pack—whether that pack is other dogs or his favorite humans. His happiest moments are the simple ones: tagging along outside, exploring the yard, lounging with his dog friends, or curling up for a cozy snuggle at the end of the day. 🌿 A happy little pack member Ratchet has settled beautifully into foster life alongside four very different dogs, and he fits right in with the crew. He’s respectful of other dogs and enjoys their company, happily snoozing and hanging out with them throughout the day. He’s also learning to live with cats—sometimes even cuddling up beside them when they’re feeling friendly (and politely retreating when they’re not!). 👋 A gentle guy who warms up with a little time When it comes to people, Ratchet is a gentle soul who just needs a moment to get to know someone new. He can be a little cautious at first, but once he’s had the chance to say hello and see that you’re a friend, his loving personality shines through. Before long, you’ll find him happily sticking by your side, ready to follow you wherever the day takes you. 🚶 An easygoing walking buddy On walks, Ratchet is polite and relaxed on leash. He enjoys taking his time, sniffing the world around him, and exploring at a comfortable pace. He’s also doing well with his crate routine—sleeping soundly through the night and resting quietly when left alone. Like many dogs adjusting to a new home, he’s still working on his house training, but he’s a smart boy who is eager to learn (especially when treats and praise are involved!). 🏡 His ideal home Ratchet would thrive in a home with a friendly dog companion and humans who enjoy including their pup in everyday adventures—whether that’s heading outside, running errands, or simply relaxing together. He’d likely do well with older, respectful kids and could live with cats that aren’t too hard on him. Most of all, he’s looking for kind, patient people who will continue building his confidence and guiding him as he grows. 💖 A loyal heart waiting for his people His foster mom describes him as a soft, gentle, loving little soul—the kind of dog who forms deep bonds and will be incredibly loyal to the family lucky enough to call him their own. With a little guidance, some fun training challenges, and lots of love, Ratchet is going to blossom into an amazing companion. ✨ If you’re looking for a devoted buddy who will happily explore the world with you and then curl up close for snuggles, Ratchet might just be your perfect match. 🐶 Apply to meet Ratchet on our webiste here: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form
