Story
Meet Palmer Palmer is a handsome ~2½-year-old Border Collie mix who has been patiently waiting for his forever home while he heals from a significant abrasion to his foot, but true to his breed and his resilient spirit, Palmer is ready for a lifetime of the perfect companion. Palmer is happiest while doing what he does best — being active, fetching balls, playing with toys and engaging with his people. He’s smart, athletic, and happiest when he has room to move and a purpose to focus on.? Palmer is house trained and has mastered the “sit” and “wait” commands, proudly showing off his ability to listen and obey when given the positive reinforcement and encouragement he needs to be successful. He loves leash walks, but sometimes his exuberance can be a bit overwhelming but we are sure that with consistency and regular walks, he will learn to be a perfect walking companion. He’s an intelligent dog who thrives with loving, consistent discipline and clear guidance.Palmer would do best in an adult-only household that understands the needs of a driven, intelligent dog and is excited to include him as part of their daily routine. With the right structure, exercise, and affection, Palmer will be a loyal companion, adventure buddy, and devoted best friend.IMPORTANT ADOPTION INFORMATIONThe dog you are considering is located in South Mississippi, with transport available (for an additional fee) to approved adopters in the Northeast. Story
Looking for a loyal, 70lb hiking partner who thinks a splash in the water is the best part of the day? Meet your new best friend! At 4 years young, I’m the perfect mix of `Let`s go for a run!` and `Let`s chill.` I’m a healthy, spayed, and heartworm-negative girl who is ready to find her forever home.If you’re looking for a solid companion for your daily adventures, I’m your girl. I have a great balance of energy—I’m always up for a long walk or a run, but I’m also happy to settle in once the exercise is done. I like the water and I`m happy to get in for a splash or a cool-down during our outdoor excursions.I am a huge fan of my toys! While I haven`t quite mastered `fetch` (I prefer to keep what I find!), I am a professional at carrying my treasures around. Because I love my toys so much, I can be possessive of my collection, so I’ll need a home where my playthings are managed safely.I’m currently a `curvy` 70 lbs, and my vet would like to see me lose about 10 lbs to keep my joints jumping for years to come. I love my exercise, so I just need a partner to help me stay on track with a healthy diet and plenty of steps!Social Style: I am currently looking for a home where I can be the star of the show while my humans get to know me. While I lived in harmony with my best bud, Woody (who is also available for adoption BTW) I am choosy about my doggie friends so would probably do best as the #1 star of your show.I value my food as much as my toys! I’m currently fed in my own space so I can relax and enjoy my dinner in peace.Top Skills: Walking on a leash, riding in a car, splashing in the water, and being a loyal companion. The Bottom Line: I’m a vibrant, active girl who just needs a little structure and a lot of love. If you want a walking buddy who will cherish every toy you give her, I’m waiting for you!

Story
Petite and AgileAddison `Addie` spent over a year in a scary shelter, overlooked because she was too terrified to show her true self, just cowered in the back of her kennel, frozen on her bed. The staff of the shelter identified her as one of their residents who desperately needed to be OUT of the shelter to thrive and to have a chance at a future. So she came to me. The first few days were heartbreaking - she trembled at the end of a leash, her tail stayed tucked - always, avoided eye contact. But then one day, it happened, that little tail tip wagged, ever so slightly, still tucked, but it was a major step. After that the growth came faster day by day. And with the help of her foster brother, Joe, she is blossoming into a `real dog!` Addie is surely a mixed breed, but appears may some Feist in her blood. But we don`t know, we just ran her through some programs and they said Feist, rat terrier and staffordshire terrier. She is beautiful, sleek, loves to chase balls and is incredibly fast. She is an athletic girl who lives for a game of fetch and will happily bring the ball right back to you everytime, well, almost. Once the playing is done, she heads straight for her `special spot` on the sofa to snuggle up and relax.Addie is still getting over her fear, making progress daily. When her guard is down she asks for pets, loves to play fetch and loves her soft bed and blanket inside too. She is very food-motivated, which is making her training a breeze! She is currently working hard on her leash walking skills and gaining confidence every day. She loves her foster brother, Joe, and would thrive in a home with another dog to keep her company. She is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and heartworm negative.Addie needs a patient family willing to work with her, to continue showing her that the world is a safe place. If you have a tennis ball and a cozy spot on your sofa, Addie might be your perfect match!
