Story
This Lil Girl is very unique. With her merle coat that perfectly splits down the center of her face, to her independent personality. Lil Girl came into our care in Oct 2025 as a stray by Animal Control and was not reclaimed by her owners. Now she is looking for a family who will take her on outdoor adventures where she can observe all around her, and relax. She does like other dogs, but would be just fine by herself. She walks perfect on a leash, is up to date on vaccinations, prevention, microchipped, heartworm negative, and spayed. Do you need a calm girl in your life?

Story
Calling all shepherd lovers! Meet Kirby, a six year old shepherd mix with a heart as big as his smile. Sadly, his previous owner decided they just did not want him anymore and surrendered him to the shelter, but we cannot understand why! Kirby is a happy go lucky boy who loves to “talk” in true shepherd fashion, and his `tongue hanging out the side of his mouth grin` is guaranteed to win you over.Kirby is already neutered, knows how to sit, and we believe he is housebroken. While he is heartworm positive, our Wellness Clinic at HSSM offers affordable treatment to help him get back to feeling his very best. More than anything, he is looking for a second chance, for someone to appreciate him and his shepherd quirks, and someone who will love him forever this time. Kirby is currently residing in a foster home. If your interested in meeting Kirby, please contact us at foster@hssm.org

Story
Meet Otter! Your New Cuddle Buddy, Walking Partner, and Favorite Conversationalist. Otter’s story began on October 25th, when this 2-year-old terrier/pit bull mix was found on the side of the road in Saucier with no collar, tags, or microchip. Though no one came forward to claim her, she hasn’t let that dim her bright spirit. Now she’s safe at HSSM, and it’s our mission to help her find the loving forever home she’s been waiting for. From the moment you meet her, Otter’s charming personality shines. She’s wonderfully talkative—the kind of pup who always has something to say, whether she’s asking for pets, sharing her excitement, or giving you her adorable commentary on life. Her little vocalizations are never demanding—just sweet, silly reminders that she wants to be part of whatever you’re doing. Otter has a refreshing, joyful energy that follows her everywhere. In the yard, she’s all about romping, running, and chasing tennis balls with pure enthusiasm. But she’s just as content to settle in for a cuddle session, curling up right beside you for some cozy one-on-one time. And when it’s time for a walk? She moves with grace, always walking politely on her leash and making every stroll an easy, peaceful outing. While Otter loves people with her whole heart, she does prefer to be in a home without feline friends. She’s happiest with humans and canine companions only, and she’ll thrive in a home that appreciates her affectionate nature and fun, expressive personality. When it comes to health, Otter is a shining star. She’s up to date on vaccines, already spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative—ready to walk out the door and start life with her new family right away. If you’re searching for a sweet, spirited, and wonderfully talkative new furry friend to fill your home with love and laughter, Otter is your girl. So what are you waiting for? Come on down to HSSM and meet her today!

Story
Hubba (Aka Hubba Bubba) is our 8 year old Hound dog who is as independent as they come. Self entertaining, all he wants in life is a family who will take him in walks and understand he will be smelling absolutely everything.Hubba is the kind of dog who will make you laugh without even trying. He has perfected the art of the dramatic sigh, the slow-motion trot, and the hopeful stare that magically produces treats. He may be a little older, but that just means he’s wiser about the important things in life—like naps.He is gentle, and ready to be a quiet companion. This sweet hound is ready to trade in shelter life for a forever home where he can finally relax. Are you looking for an independent pup? Are you a Hound dog fan? Then come inquire about him today

Story
My name is Petunia...yes like the flower. I am a 6 year old Labrador mix who came to HSSM as a stray when Animal control found me lost and running down pass road. I am here to find a forever home with a family who understands my age. I may not be as young as I used to be but I have lots of love to give you. I would love to have my own spot on the couch where I can nap daily, and a friend to keep me company. I know how to sit, and I`ll even smile in hopes that you`ll give me more snacks. I am heartworm positive, but don`t worry HSSM discounts the treatment for you and has even started my meds. Do you think I could join your home? Come and meet me today!
