Story
Arlo is an 11-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was surrendered to a rural Mississippi shelter after his owner could no longer care for him. When he arrived, he had clearly spent much of his early life crated and was severely underweight. Despite that difficult start, Arlo has an incredible zest for life. Every day is his best day!
He is extremely friendly and loves everyone he meets. Arlo still acts very puppy-like with lots of energy. He enjoys long walks and hiking and can easily go a few miles. After exercise, he’s happy to curl up on the couch and snuggle. Arlo requires daily excersize and brain stimulation. He gets along well with other dogs, shares toys, is not food aggressive, and is not destructive in his foster home. Due to his nature, Arlo requires a fenced in back yard. He has no recall and needs the space to run so he can come inside and enjoy snuggles.
Arlo does have separation anxiety and will bark when left alone or crated, sometimes for up to 30 minutes before settling. Apartments would not be a good environment for Arlo. He does best in a home where someone is around most of the time and ideally with another dog. He is crate trained, mostly house trained, knows “sit,” and does best with easy access outside (such as a doggy door). He weighs about 14 lbs and needs to continue gaining weight.
Arlo is good with kids. He would push boundaries with small children. For this reason, we will only adopt to households with older children or no children.
Arlo is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

For Pet's Sake Rescue is a Mississippi based rescue. We are located in an overpopulated area surrounded by high-kill shelters.
Adoption fees include transport, vetting and a MS Health Certificate to travel. Each pet is spayed/neutered, receives age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, heartworm test (6 months and older) microchipped and flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
