Story
Acorn is a gorgeous medium-haired black female. She is very playful and loves wand toys. She's very skittish and needs a patient home who can take the time to earn her trust. Once she gets to know you, she enjoys gentle pets. Acorn would prefer other cats that are mellow and gentle. She was also good with the small, older dogs at her foster home. Acorn is not litterbox trained.

Story
This gorgeous girl is Camila or Cami for short! Camila was surrendered to us after her owners were faced with health issues beyond their control. She was well-loved and very spoiled, so we're hoping to find her a new home that will do the same! She is 4.5 years old and a larger sized cat, weighing around 11lbs. She is understandably very stressed and upset at the shelter. She will occasionally rub against you, but currently does not allow petting, beyond her trusted staff member. We hope with time and patience in a quiet environment away from cats she will start trust people again and feel safe. She will need a patient home that can give her ample time and space to adjust. She will require an experienced cat owner who understand she likely will take lots of work to become friends with. Camila lived as an only pet in her previous home and is looking for a home with no children.Camila is front paw declawed. When she first came to WCHS, she experienced some discomfort in her front paws. Our vet did x-rays and observed nail fragments in her front paws. She received a pain injection and has been doing wonderfully since. Any interested adopter would want to keep this in mind to share with their vet in case any complications arise in the future! At this time, Cami will likely need routine grooming/haircuts to upkeep her coat.

Story
Meet Shelby – Your purrfect lap companion! Shelby is a sweet senior kitty with a heart full of love and a soul as gentle as a soft purr. She’s searching for a forever family to cherish her golden years, offering snuggles and companionship in return. Her estimated birthday is 6/14/2011 (so she's nearing 14 years old). Fully litter box trained and well-mannered, Shelby is a low-maintenance companion who thrives in a calm and cozy environment. While she hasn’t had the chance to meet children or dogs yet, she’s shown a polite curiosity toward her feline foster siblings from afar—indicating she could do well with other cats after a proper introduction. Shelby is a moderately social sweetheart, enjoying quiet moments by your side or curled up in your lap. Whether she’s snuggling next to you during a movie night or simply keeping you company as you relax, Shelby’s presence brings a comforting warmth to any home. She even welcomes being picked up, making her the perfect cuddle buddy! Though Shelby takes thyroid medication for hyperthyroidism, it's easily managed, and she doesn’t let it slow her down. Due to her hearing impairment, she may get a little startled when you suddenly appear, but once she realizes you're there, she'll be ready for affection. If Shelby had a dream job, she'd be a dedicated secretary, always by your side, keeping things in order with quiet grace and an observant eye. This lovely senior lady is looking for a peaceful home where she can enjoy her days in tranquility. If you're searching for a gentle, loving friend to share your quiet moments, Shelby is ready to fill your home with warmth and affection. Adopt Shelby today and give her the loving retirement she deserves! Story
Calvin came to SAYv from Chicago Animal Care and Control, where it was clear that he had spent some time outside. His fur was incredibly matted, tangled with burrs all down his belly, ultimately resulting in the need for a little bit of a haircut, but sweet Calvin took it in stride. He may look a little worse for wear still, but we know that with a little bit of time this boy is going to be the prettiest cat on the block. Personality wise, Calvin is like an old soul. He's mellow and quiet, perhaps a little timid at first, but curious. He's sweet and very much enjoys having the back of his ears scratched. He definitely wants to be a lap cat. He's the kind of guy that would love nothing more than curling up in your lap in front of a fire. Because we don't know Calvin's history, we're still getting to know this sweet boy. Our vet's best guess is that he is around seven years old. Based on his personality and the fact that he definitely enjoys human company, we can only guess that he may have been someone's pet at some point in time - but I guess we will never know. All we do know is that this gorgeous boy definitely deserves a happy ending. Will that happy ending be with you? If you think it could be, apply to adopt here: sayvanimals.org/adopt (PLEASE NOTE: Despite what PetFinder, AdoptAPet and other aggregation software systems state - the first step is to submit an application via the link above, NOT send a message through their platforms.
