Story
We adopted Ozzy from a home that had big dogs and other cats. We weren’t aware that he is deathly afraid of dogs and our home has 3. We have tried to acclimate Ozzy for 6 months but he is not happy at all and hides away and cries a lot. If he is around just one of the adults in the home, he is great…so cuddly and sweet. If the kids or dogs are around he is terrified. He doesn’t like kids as there is too much going on for him. His ideal home would be a single person or couple with no kids or dogs. I am not sure if he gets along with other cats.

HOW TO ADOPT: These cats are participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet these cats, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.---Jolie and Andy are Bonded Buddies. They'll be adopted as a pair. - Can be quite shy until she gets to know you, but once she does she's pretty laid back and loves pets and ear scratches - she'll bump against your arm or body if you stop to encourage you to keep going!- Likes toy balls and catnip toys- Loves to play with wand toys! - Has done well with dogs and other cats- Not a fan of loud noises or fast movements, and young, busy (or even fairly calm) children are way too much for her right now, so she is looking for a mature home that is calm and quiet- Please plan on starting her and her bonded buddy in one room of your home and giving her quite a bit of time to become comfortable with that area and with you before allowing her access to larger areas of the home; this process will help set her up for success by not overwhelming her Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: White Weight: 15.1 Age: 4yrs 7mths 0wks

Story
This cat is participating in our Camp Purr working cat program, which is designed for feral or semi-feral cats that would be happiest living outside as working cats. Adopters must provide shelter and food/water to these cats year round and need to be willing to work with our Camp Purr team to ensure these cats are acclimated appropriately and humanely to their new environment. Because these cats are familiar with the other cats they are living with currently, we require that all Camp Purr cats be adopted with at least one other Camp Purr cat. The adoption fee for each cat in this program is just $25, and all cats have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. HOW TO ADOPT: These cats are available by appointment only to ensure our team has adequate time to assist you. To get started, please answer a few questions here and a Camp Purr Counselor will email you soon. Primary Color: White Weight: 9.4 Age: 2yrs 5mths 4wks

Story
Laurel and Laney are Bonded Buddies; they'll be adopted as a pair- Friendly and enjoys attention This cat came from a situation where they did not get the socialization that house cats typically get from a young age. Because of this, they may be fearful in new situations and when meeting new people, may need help getting used to a carrier, and may never enjoy being picked up and held. Since this cat has lived with other cats, they may benefit from having another cat friend to help them build confidence and show them the ropes. You can find more info here about cats from hoarding situations and how to work with them to set them up for success. Primary Color: Black Weight: 7.4 Age: 0yrs 9mths 1wks
