Story
🧶Lucy is adorable, playful, sometimes shy, and very gentle—like a kitten in a sweet 5-year-old body. She’s been the love of our lives. She snuggles with her brother but is uncomfortable with our older cat, so she may do best as an only cat or in a home with people around more, a steady routine, or even a mostly-outdoor/unique setup. 🐈‍⬛ Her challenge is occasional peeing outside the litter box. The vet believes it’s behavioral—loneliness, late meals, or territorial stress. She has her own box for pee, cleaned daily, and uses it, mostly reliably. She’s had a couple mild UTIs that respond well to meds, sometimes with a spot of blood, but further tests are costly. (Less than 1x/ year) 🐾She and her brother may feel more secure together; we’re open to rehoming them as a pair. We aren’t home as much now, and while she uses her box most of the time, the issue has become hard to manage. We adore her and hope she finds a home that fits her needs.

Story
Parker and August arrived as a very scared, feral kittens who weren't sure what to think about people. They went to foster care, where Parker slowly learned that humans can be pretty okay after all. Parker is still a worried boy, so he will need a calm, patient home where his new people understand that trust takes time. A friendly, confident kitty friend (or two!) will help show them the ropes and reassure them that they are safe and loved. With plenty of patience, gentle encouragement, and consistency, Parker will continue to make progress at his own pace. This sweet boy is looking for adopters who believe in giving shy kitties the time they need to bloom. Watching them gain confidence and learn to trust will be a truly rewarding journey. August is terrified. Once you can pick her up she will bury her head into the crook of your arm. It is going to take a special person to help this little girl settle into her home. TJO feline staff will support their adopter in integrate these kittens into their home.OTHER PETS: They must have a social kitty or two to play with and to learn from.OWNER EXPERIENCE: Their adopters must have experience with scared / worried kitties and their socialization.KIDS: There adopters must be older teens and adults only.ACTIVITY LEVEL: They are currently a couch potato's. They do not know how to play. They have no idea what they are missing out on. A patient adopter and social kitty friends will be wonderful for him.VETERINARY CARE: They looking forward to meeting their new vet and receiving regular vet care.LEVEL OF SOCIALIZATION: They are in need of a home where his new family is comfortable helping a scared kitty to blossom.GROOMING: They take good care of their coats. Soft brushing is a great bonding activity for kitties and their humans.January 5, 2026, 12:45 pm

Story
Meet Marmalade! A wise and whimsical eleven-year-old Domestic Medium Hair currently in Harvard, MA, whose orange and white tabby coat glows as warmly as her soft, pigeon-like purrs. With her plush fur, gentle heart, and soulful eyes, Marmalade is the kind of feline companion who turns quiet afternoons into moments of comfort and calm. Despite her senior status, Marmalade is still light on her paws, she loves nothing more than batting her catnip-stuffed squirrel across the wood floor, chasing it with surprising agility! If the toy happens to tumble down the stairs, she’ll dutifully retrieve it like a true champion of squirrel rescue. Her playful spirit adds a dash of charm to every day, and her favorite time to unwind is curled up at the foot of the bed, where she softly purrs herself, and maybe you, into a peaceful nap. Marmalade is affectionate on her own terms, and her favorite spots for scratches are the top of her head, her chin, and her lower back. She may request attention with a head bump or a soft meow, but she’s also a gal who values her space and appreciates caregivers who understand feline finesse. She’s eats heartily and still maintains her own grooming with the poise of a true queen! Health-wise, Marmalade is currently on a kidney-supportive diet after some recent lab results showed slightly elevated proBNP and a lower than normal urine specific gravity. While she’s not on any medication and remains lively, she may benefit from future care with a specialist to ensure she continues to thrive. Having lived in a quiet environment for much of her life, Marmalade would truly shine in a calm, cat-only home with no dogs or young children. She’s looking for a compassionate, attentive pet parent who has the time to play, the heart to love, and the resources to support her unique needs. In return, she offers peaceful companionship, the sweetest purrs, and the joy of watching a once-reserved cat bloom in a home filled with warmth. Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about bringing Marmalade into your family! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
This sweet group of cats came to us together and is now ready to find their next homes. While they can be adopted together if you’re looking to welcome multiple feline friends, they are also happy to go to separate homes and start new chapters of their own. These cats have lived with other cats and a dog in the past, so they are comfortable sharing their space with furry companions. Like many cats experiencing a big change, they can be a bit nervous in new environments and will need some time, patience, and understanding to fully settle in. They would do best in homes that understand the importance of a slow transition and are willing to let them adjust at their own pace. With love, routine, and a calm environment, these kitties are sure to become wonderful companions. If you’re looking to give one—or more—of these cats a fresh start, they’re ready to meet you and begin their journey home. 💛 Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org.
