Story
Our dear sweet Coal, the perfect lap cat, loves everyone he meets. He's less than a year old, but seems to have an "old soul" attitude. He's very chill, loves to hang out on the back of a sofa and enjoy the sunshine (and birds!). He has a beautiful mid-length coat. He also has a "wonky" eye that appears sort of clouded over. The Veterinarian says it causes him no pain. I think it causes us humans more pain than him. At some point in his life, it may be necessary to see a specialist to make sure it is not causing him pain. Coal is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Story
Everything you've heard about orange cats is true with these two. Oatmeal and Barley are two adorable bundles of energy. These playful brothers are always up for an adventure—whether it’s chasing after toys, climbing to the highest perch, or zooming through the house in a game of tag.The brothers' big hearts are hidden beneath their shy exteriors. These gentle kitties may take some time to warm up, but with patience and love, they will slowly reveal their sweet and playful personalities. At first, they may prefer to observe from a safe distance, but given time and a quiet space, they will start to trust. Once they feel comfortable, they’ll allow gentle pets—and when they do, their deep, rumbling purrs will let you know just how much they appreciate your kindness.Barley, the more cautious of the two, loves finding cozy hiding spots and watching the world go by. But once he trusts you, he enjoys chin scratches and will purr loudly in appreciation.Oatmeal, the braver brother, is a little more curious and playful. He loves chasing toys and wrestling with Barley, and with patience, he’ll happily accept gentle pets and head scratches. These sweet boys need a calm and understanding home where they can take their time to adjust. But for those willing to give them patience and love, they will reward you with their trust, affection, and the sweetest purrs. They have gotten along wonderfully with both dogs and cats in their foster home. If you are interested in meeting them we please ask that you email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an adoption application. Once you have an approved adoption application on file we can then schedule a time for you to meet these boys. Their adoption fee is $150.00 each, that includes them being altered, current on vaccines, microchipped, treated for fleas and treated for worms. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgFebruary 27, 2025, 5:34 am

Story
Hi, my name is Chris and my sister Lucy (CH-Lucy) and I are looking for a very special person. You see, our human mom took us off the streets as feral cats when we were really young - as cats go, but probably as feral cats go, really too late to 'flip us', to be regular house cats. I have become more outgoing, as time has gone by, but, my human mom has always referred to Lucy as 'a ghost' I think you could actually say that I am the emotional support animal for Lucy (and she is mine) I could be a 24/7 lap cat. I love getting my belly rubbed and being brushed. When I came to SCC, I was pretty matted on my belly, but my foster person and I worked on getting all of those nasty felted mats off of my belly. That feels so nice now. We are ramping down on 12 years old now. SCC got us a senior blood panel and in the scheme of things, we are doing alright. Let me tell you about me. I am quite a bit bigger than my sister, and a very fluffy boy. I am a lot more outgoing than my sister, but still timid. As you can see from our pics, we are very bonded and are often perched together by the window, watching the world go by. We also like to play with catnip mice inside crinkly, kitty tunnels. And I really like treats! The cats in the foster home we are in come to visit us. I like to give them head-butts and am never aggressive with the visitors. Lucy stays back in the shadows and is not so welcoming. We would be best in a quiet home environment, like with retirees that live a quiet life, and are home more. If friends or family do come to visit, they might not see us, but you should know that we will be waiting for your company to leave so that we can come out. As you might assume, kids are a bit noisy for us, and even though we had a dog in our lives before, we can do without that. We are current on our vaccines and microchipped and are very good with our litterbox. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application.February 15, 2025, 2:14 pm
