Story
Callie came into the San Bernardino Shelter as a stray. She was terrified and visibly shaking in the kennel. The shelters are so overcrowded, that fear can get you on the euthanasia list. Unfortunately, because Callie's "tail was tucked and she was whale eyed", she was set to be euthanized. Southpaw Rescue pulled her. Since coming into rescue we realize Callie is one of the sweetest, most inquisitive dogs we have had at Southpaw. She loves to give kisses and cuddle up with everyone. She is gentle with the children who have wanted to meet her, and gently licks their hands. Callie is good with all of the other dogs her foster home. She loves to play and is usually the more submissive one. Callie knows sit and walks great on a leash. She doesn't mind going into her kennel when her foster mom needs to work. https://youtu.be/d3d7O2wyGzY Call is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her shots. Here is a video of her in February when she saw snow for the first time: https://www.southpawrescue.com/adoption-application

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Approximately 4-5 year old Esme is part of a pack of dogs that lived in the desert for several years after their owner died. A good samaritan visited the pack several times a week to make sure they had food, water, and shelter. Esme was rescued with a few others in September 2020 but spent almost a year in boarding since there were no open fosters. Finally, in the summer of 2021 Esme was able to get into a foster home.Over the last few months, Esme has been learning what it's like to truly be a dog. She loves napping and chewing a good bone. Esme hasn't been around kids before, but she is very relaxed and hasn't ever shown any type of aggression. She is very shy with humans and apprehensive of new people. On the other hand, she completely comes out of her shell with other dogs. She loves hopping around and playing with the other pups in her foster home. She is currently living in a foster home with other dogs of all sizes and ages, as well as cats. She hasn't had a problem with any of the other pets.Esme will definitely need a special home, with a family that will be patient with her while she continues to grow and learns how to trust humans. She will likely never be super social with humans, so a fairly mellow home with at least 1 other dog is ideal. Esme does enjoy walks and walks nicely on a leash. She is crate trained, but not house trained. If you can be that patient and loving home for this special girl, please apply to adopt Esme today.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 23, 2024, 2:39 pm

Story
Rocket is a 2 year old neutered Ger-moodle (Shep-a-doodle). He was born July 2019. His mom is a standard poodle and his dad was a German Shepard. Rocket is crate trained. He can be shy (at first) when meeting new people / new surroundings. At home, he is very affectionate and loves to be the center of attention. He loves family adventures - especially if car / boat rides are involved. Rocket has been raised around older kids (10 years old +), and has not had many interactions with younger kids. Rocket needs a home where he is the only dog. He usually gets along well with his pet siblings, but does have history of lashing out at them (which is sadly why we can no longer keep him). Rocket has been around cats, but does like to chase sometimes.  ##1486025##
