Callie came into the San Bernardino Shelter as a stray. She was terrified and visibly shaking in the kennel. The shelters are so overcrowded, that fear can get you on the euthanasia list. Unfortunately, because Callie's "tail was tucked and she was whale eyed", she was set to be euthanized. Southpaw Rescue pulled her. Since coming into rescue we realize Callie is one of the sweetest, most inquisitive dogs we have had at Southpaw. She loves to give kisses and cuddle up with everyone. She is gentle with the children who have wanted to meet her, and gently licks their hands. Callie is good with all of the other dogs her foster home. She loves to play and is usually the more submissive one. Callie knows sit and walks great on a leash. We met this beautiful girl at a local Walmart while collecting Toys for Tots with the Explorers. A family was moving out of state with four kids and dogs in a small RV and didn't have room for her. We took her in and she became an unofficial mascot of our post and she wound up housed in our place. She has amazing eyes, beautiful coat and is full of energy. She is wonderful with people, especially kids. Best of all she is not finicky. She'll make a fine guard dog and companion for everyone in your home. Unfortunately changes at the station, as well as my own living situation--I am going overseas, and getting married--mean we need to find her a more permanent and still loving home.

We rescued Kodi in Oct. 2023 from his previous owner who neglected him and kept him caged all day. When we got him, he was very destructive, overly energetic, stubborn, and asserted dominance over our other dog. We sent him for professional board and train in Nov. 2023. He has improved significantly, but is still stubborn, chews on non-pet toys, and is energetic. He also asserts dominance over our 1-year-old by knocking him down. Kodi needs a home without dogs and young kids, and with a large yard to get his energy out.
