Story
Woof, friends! I'm Leo, a sweet and resilient six-month old mutt with a story to tell! I started my journey at Tehama Co Animal Services, where things were a bit ruff. You see, I was kenneled with too many pals in a tiny space (four dogs to be precise), and it wasn't the friendliest place. Back at the shelter, I was a bit shy and spent most of my time hiding in the back corner. Can you blame me? It was very overwhelming and unfortunately, I got beat up. Due to overcrowding and my kennel stress, the shelter was planning to say goodbye to me way too soon. But guess what? Some amazing humans came to my rescue just in time! I do best with slow intros and friendly dogs, and now I'm living the good life in a foster home with two other canine buddies. My gentle personality is starting to shine, and I've discovered this incredible thing called cuddling. I absolutely LOVE it, and I'm eager to find a special someone to share my snuggles with! My foster parents say I'm one of the best snugglers ever – their words, not mine, but I'm not one to argue! I've got this amazing potential to keep blossoming into the best dog ever. So, if you're looking for a furry friend to share your heart and home, I'm here! Leo’s adoption donation is SPONSORED: includes: Neuter, Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella, Microchip See Leo on Instagram @tahoefosterdogs You might be wondering what “sponsored” means. A dog is sponsored when their foster or a donor loves them so much that they cover the adoption donation for a future adopter. This in hopes that the pup finds his or her forever family ASAP!

Story
Reba is a very sweet, active, and energetic girl. We found her at the Dublin shelter, where she had been for 5.5 months. They thought she was having seizures. We've finally been able to get her in to UC Davis for a neurological exam. Her "episodes" are not seizures. It seems she has some damage or deficit in her cerebellum, we think she was possibly grazed by a car. She has these "episodes" intermittently, and after resting for about 5 mintues, she is good to go again. No medications or treatments needed. Other than that, she is very healthy and loves to fetch and run. She will sit and wait for her food or for her crate door to be opened. She would make a great walking or running companion. She’s great with animals that won’t run from her. She gets along with our older small dogs and would play well with another dog her size or bigger. She’s looking for a home of her own and her own person, where she can get attention and exercise and love. Will you be her person? Please contact us if you'd like to ask any questions and/or meet Reba!

Story
Chanell is a sweet, young, athletic, loyal and extremely intelligent companion for you. She is less than 3 years old, potty trained, recently spayed and up to date with her vaccinations. She has had flea and heartworm medications. She follows commands and intuitively understands what is expected of her. Unleashed she comes on command. She sits and shakes. Within 2 days of being introduced to her new foster home she learned to tap the bell to tell her foster that she needed to go potty. Chanell loves to play with balls and chewing on cheeses. She loves to play fetch at the park and is friendly to strangers and other dogs. At home she can be mellow and is content to chew on her ball while sitting next to her human. Chanell will also protect your home. She was saved by Ruff Day Rescue from being euthanized at the Stanislaus shelter. What a fantastic girl to add to your family!

Story
Introducing Zeus, a big and beautiful 100# German shepherd who wants nothing more than to chill at home with his humans. Despite his large size, Zeus would even be happy in an apartment setting with regular walks, as he's generally very low energy in the home. Unfortunately NO kitties, and likely to small animals (small dogs are OK), Zeus is extremely cat reactive. Zeus would be happy as an only dog but also plays very well with others, people are his real priority! Zeus knows sit, and shake (sometimes lol), and will walk on a loose lead as long as he's wearing his gentle leader, which will come home with him! Zeus is crate trained, and even went through nearly two months of crate rest after a surgery complication with no fuss. Besides cats Zeus is totally non reactive, and won't bark at passing cars or barking dogs, but as is normal for his breed he wants to protect his family and will bark if an unfamiliar human is in his yard unaccompanied. Make sure he sees you with someone or are there to introduce and he loves everyone! Zeus has also shown signs that he LOVES kids, despite not having any in the home, seeing them walk down the street or seeing them on walks he is desperate to say hi, and will very calmly let them pet him all over. If you want a calm, happy-go-lucky gentle giant, look no further than Zeus!

Story
Woof everyone! I'm Sox, or shall we say “fox?” Yeah, I get that a lot. In addition to my awesomeness, I’m also pretty exotic lookin. Regal, right? I’m 30lbs and will probably not get significantly bigger, so I’m the perfect velcro pocket shepherd! I follow my peeps around to stay close on the action. My life started with a bit of an adventure – I was rescued alongside a lovely lady shepherd and a bunch of other playful pups. Talk about a squad! Fast forward to now – I'm the definition of playfulness and energy. I’m a malinois mix after all! Fetch, tug-of-war, you name it – I'm always up for a good time. Energetic is practically my middle name. Currently, I act neutral around the other dogs in my foster home and even enjoy pack walks with them. However, I don’t love sharing my toys or space with others, so I might be best as an only child. I might be able to coexist with a more passive pup if we’re allowed some time to get to know each other. I’m lookin’ for special someones who will show me the ropes in this big ole world because I am on the timid side. I’m shy with new people, but will warm up if they are packin’ on the treats. Humans who give tasty snacks are good people, right? While I have some anxiety I’m learning to cope with, I’ve made great strides with crate training and encountering other dogs and people on walks. I’m starting to realize how great walks around the neighborhood are! Before, I was too nervous and really missing out! I don’t mean to brag, but I was potty trained in just a few weeks! The one thing I’m a little behind on is my love for the car. My foster is optimistic that I may get more comfortable as I get older with the help of training and positive distractions. You see, I’m a bit of a conundrum. I’m quite lively and playful with my close circle, but need time to feel comfy around new things. I hope you can understand! I can’t wait to blossom with my future person! Sox needs a new foster, foster to adopt, or better yet, a forever home! $350 adoption donation includes age-appropriate shots, microchip with free lifetime registry, deworming, flea preventative, and spay/neuter agreement addendum Ideal home will: Have the time to commit to all things puppy! Please note puppies do not do well left alone long hours and need to be let out every 2-3 hours for potty. Long work schedule where the puppy would be left alone for 7+ hours can be difficult on most puppies and young dogs. Solid plans for puppy socialization, positive exposure and continued training + relationship building -- commitment not just to puppyhood but to a lifetime of love, care, companionship and vetting. HFP advocates for Positive Reinforcement only for young puppies and training that focuses less on "obedience" and more on confidence building, relationship building and consent training. Preference to homes w/ friendly & well-trained dog role models (preference, NOT required) Preference to homes w/ yards (preferred, NOT required) Why? Puppies cannot go in public until they are 4 month old and complete their puppy shot series. Having a yard during this time greatly helps with play, potty training, and providing an outlet for your puppy to get outside. There are ways to work around this if you do live in an apartment setting but it takes some extra work and planning! Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more!
