Story
Meet Gia! Gia is a German Shepherd/Black Lab mix. age unknown, maybe 6 or 7 years. Gia is looking for a loving forever home. She would really like to be in a house with a family and a yard. Ideally this house would not have any cats, although she would be good with a certain type of cat. Gia loves people and children. She is very loving and sweet. And very cuddly. She is also VERY well-behaved. She is potty-trained and would never do her business inside. She doesn't bark or bite. She doesn't chew or destroy furniture. She is (almost) a completely perfect family dog! Gia loves rawhides and loves to sleep on the bed, although she is good sleeping on the floor too. She mostly loves spending time with her people. She is very low maintenance. Everyone who meets Gia loves her. Her former owner is a sweet elderly woman who just can't take care of her anymore. The time I have spent with this special beautiful creature has been very rewarding. She warms my grumpy heart.

Story
Clay is a 4 year old neutered male livestock guardian/shepherd mix. He loves people more than anything. He is good with cats and small dogs. He is okay with some large dogs and not others. He has not been observed around young kids. Clay is medium energy. He loves to run and play as well as cuddle and nap. He is still building confidence in new situations and with new people. He is very shy in public. At home, he is confident and always wants to be by his person's side. He will need someone willing to go slowly when introducing him to new people, animals and experiences. Clay was found on the streets of Modesto as a stray. No one claimed him. He was set to be euthanized at the shelter due to overpopulation before we took him. At the shelter, he was terrified and kept to himself in the corner, shut down in fear. In his foster home, he is lively and social.

Story
Dogs don't come any cuter than Daffodil! Daffodil is an approximately 3-year-old bundle of fun who is eager to find her forever home. She is the sweetest girl who will happily make herself comfy in your lap and cover your face in kisses. We haven't had the heart to tell her she is slightly too big to be a lap dog. Daffodil is fully grown and weighs around 60lbs (although she could benefit from losing a few pounds). Daffodil came to us after she was found as a stray. One of our foster homes agreed to take her in until an owner was found, but an owner never came forward. A couple of weeks after she was found, Daffodil gave birth to 9 puppies! All of her puppies have been adopted, so now it's her turn! Daffodil is a wiggly goofball and loves to explore and go on adventures. Now that she doesn't have to care for her babies, she is ready to enjoy life and soak up all the human attention for herself. Daffodil has been doing great learning her basic manners, and has learned "sit". She is very food-motivated, which makes training a blast. Her new family will need to be prepared to dedicate the time to continue to work on her basic manners to help her be the best girl she can be. Daffodil would do best with someone who has large dog experience, as she is a strong and enthusiastic girl. Daffodil is a moderate-energy gal. When she's at home, she is happy to chill on the couch and enjoy movie marathons, but she also has the energy for long walks and hikes. She loves car rides and hops right in and is ready to go. She loves making new human friends and has been a popular girl at our adoption events. She is quick to cover your face in kisses and will lean into you for a hug. She oozes happiness and can't wait to find her fur-ever family! Daffodil would do best as an only dog or with an easy-going male dog. She needs a kitty-free home. Due to her rambunctious nature, Daffodil would do best with an adult-only home or with kids 12 years or older. Daffodil has been doing very well with her house and crate training. She sleeps through the night in her crate and has done well hanging out in there when her foster mom is at work or gone for a few hours. Daffodil is such a sweet girl, and she deserves her happy-ever-after. If you think that might be with you, submit an adoption application today!   Daffodil's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. August 10, 2025, 6:49 pm

Story
Willow deserves a loving home with owners who have time and ample space for her and can give her the love she deserves. I took Willow in after my mom passed away trying to give her the best home, but unfortunately my older senior dog has never liked Willow and it has become too much to manage. Willow is amazing with kids, cats and other dogs. She is a bit clumsy and silly and extremely loving to all. She loves to play fetch and get lots of head scratches. She does have tummy issues and does well on beef or lamb kibble only. She is house trained but does have occasional poop accidents she may need medication for.

These pups are in Davis, California too!

Story
Marvin is a 2 year old Belgian Malinois. He is dog and people friendly. He has not been observed around cats. Marvin is high energy, playful, and affectionate. He loves toys, walks, playing, and pets. Belgian Malinois are a working breed and require physical and mental stimulation to thrive. Marvin and his sister Molly were found together as strays in Modesto and set to be euthanized at the local shelter due to overpopulation. We pulled them both and placed them in a foster home together. They love playing with each other, but they do rile each other up. They can be adopted separately. If adopted together, their adopter needs breed experience. Marvin is doing well in foster. Molly had to be placed in boarding for going after the foster’s small dog.

Story
Molly is a two year old female Belgian malnois. She cannot be around small animals. She is good with other large dogs. She is jumpy, so I do not recommend her to someone with young kids. Molly is playful and friendly. She is high energy. She loves to run and play. She likes pets and playing with her brother Marvin. Marvin and Molly were found as strays in Modesto and set to be put down at a high kill shelter due to overpopulation. Our rescue pulled them both. Marvin is thriving in his foster home. Molly was in the home with him and was doing well until she bit the foster’s small dog. So she cannot be around small animals and is now in boarding until she can find another foster or adopted. Could you be this girl’s hero?
