Dutch the Dutch Shepherd is a male 1-1/2 year old. He is neutered. House trained and very lovable. He has lots of energy as he is still a puppy. He is also chill and loves napping. He sleeps in his kennel with the door open all night. He doesn’t wake us up till we get up. He loves his walks and is very good on leash. He is sometimes very eager to walk and can’t stay still long enough to put collar on. He does live with a cat and they play together. He has never hurt his cat. He still needs more training.

Meet Mandy Mandy is a gorgeous Plott Hound mix. She was rescued from a high kill shelter. This beauty is incredible! Mandy is just one year old. She is super sweet, affectionate, friendly and outgoing. She's absolutely gorgeous with long legs and a long, lean body. Mandy loves our shelter staff and volunteers. She is so happy to see them, and she calmly sits for scratches and gentle pets. Mandy travels well in a car and likes going places. Mandy is a bigger girl at 60lbs. She is energetic and would do well with an active family or person. She loves walks/hikes, likes to run in a fenced yard, she might even enjoy dog parks or doggie daycare. She loves other dogs and plays very well. She can be submissive if she’s feeling overwhelmed by other dogs.Mandy is sensitive and very smart. She is a gentle soul. Mandy had so many advocates trying to get her to safety and we can see why. She is amazing. It’s so hard to understand how a dog like Mandy finds herself homeless, but the family or person who adopt her will be getting a gem. Mandy is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
We adopted Odin from the Atlanta Humane Society when he was a puppy. He is beyond a good dog. He is now seven, and we are unable to give him the exercise he requires. Our schedule doesn't allow us to be as active as it used to be for him. This has caused him to act out by eating off the counters, growling if our baby gets near him, and occasionally showing obedience. This is all on us since we can't get him stimulated as he needs, and that hurts me. I want him to go somewhere that he will get all the attention and exercise that his breed desires. He is a good boy and an awesome companion when he gets to work. He is a bit wild around other dogs, so some may want to fight, but he is friendly if they are equally wild. The fee is to ensure he goes to someone who really wants him and can afford to provide for him.
