Meet Moira! A dog with a motherly personality and a smart, athletic side. She enjoys spending time with her people, learning new things, and a good game of fetch. When the toys come out, she’s all business! Moira is proof that old dogs can absolutely learn new tricks. She would love a home that gives her plenty of enrichment, adventures, training, and lots of snuggles. She has done wonderfully with her current canine housemates and would likely enjoy having another dog in her home. She would do best without cats, as they tend to be a little too distracting for her. Moira is still working through some anxiety from her life before rescue, particularly with loud noises and storms. She’ll need a patient person who can help her continue building confidence. Her ideal home will provide clear boundaries, daily enrichment, and plenty of one-on-one time. In return, Moira will happily be your adventure buddy, training partner, and nightly cuddle companion. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Adoption fee is $250. At just 1 year old, he has his whole life ahead of him and is looking for someone who understands the breed and is excited to help him reach his full potential. Rocky came to us after his family had to leave the country, and while this has been a big change for him, he's ready to start his next chapter. Like many young Shepherds, Rocky has a lot of energy and thrives when he has both physical exercise and mental enrichment. He's still learning about the world and can become overstimulated when he sees people or other dogs on walks, leading to some leash reactivity. We also don't think he's had much experience with structured leash walking, so he'll need a patient adopter who is committed to training and helping him build confidence. The good news? Rocky is incredibly smart and has all the makings of an amazing companion. With consistency, guidance, and positive reinforcement, we know he'll blossom into the loyal best friend German Shepherds are known to be. According to his previous family, Rocky did well with dogs, though he has a very energetic play style. He previously lived with children, but because of his size and enthusiasm, we think he'd do best with either an adult only home or older kids who can comfortably handle an active young dog. Cats, however, are a little too exciting for Rocky, so he'll need a cat-free home. If you're looking for a young dog with incredible potential and are ready to invest the time to help him succeed, Rocky will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a lifelong friendship. Harley is a 6-year-old German Shepherd/Red Heeler mix who has the whole package: calm, loyal, smart, and deeply devoted to her people. She is house-trained, crate-trained, knows her commands, and settles beautifully in the home. She enjoys her daily walks, her toys, and above all, being close to her humans. A true Velcro dog, she loves nothing more than quietly sticking by your side. Harley can be a bit reserved with men and loves to protect her human. When she is feeling unsure or scared, she may bark or growl out of fear, but with slow, positive introductions, she warms up wonderfully. In her foster home, she absolutely adores her foster dad and teenage foster brother, showing just how loving and loyal she becomes once she feels safe. She gets along with other dogs and is in foster with dogs of various sizes and personalities. She may show herding instincts, so a home with older children and no cats would be best for her.
